...to want to find a brand of tampon which doesn't fall out..???

oceanstwo · 18/04/2012 13:45

Am fed up of using tampons which work their way down, particularly if I dare to have even a quick pee. Repeatedly find them about to 'emerge' and so get through twice as many as I actually should need to.

Have had one ventouse delivery. Have admittedly also had a number of internals since then, but surely I can't be that stretched can I???

Oh good scrambled - glad to be of help Grin

Mandy2003 · 18/04/2012 14:40

Tampax Pearl expand enormously widthways! I was quite shocked actually Shock

theodorakis · 18/04/2012 14:45

I agree about tampons generally, I wish they would bring out a bent shaped one for those of us who have a retroverted cervix, I find it absolutely to insert a tampon without it being horrid and messy. Sorry TMI

maydaychild · 18/04/2012 14:46

Try Lillet applicator
Tampax are the devils work
I have a short fanjo too! And yep, I'm a mooncup convert

hairytale · 18/04/2012 15:34

I always have this problem with applicator tampons but not non-applicator ones.

RevoltingPeasant · 18/04/2012 15:39

I was a total mooncup convert but have been having massive leakage problems recently Sad

RevoltingPeasant · 18/04/2012 15:39

Just thought I'd share Grin

WeShouldOpenABar · 18/04/2012 15:39

I'm a recent mooncup convert , love it, quite handily both my work and home sink is reachable from the toilet so its dead easy.

When using said mooncup does anyone else hum mooncup.com in the tune of the moonpig ad?

no just me then Blush Smile

RevoltingPeasant · 18/04/2012 15:40

theo I have a retro cervix (so cool!) and I never had that problem.

WeShouldOpenABar · 18/04/2012 15:44

i've a retro cervix too- no issues?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 18/04/2012 15:45

Revolting peasant : have you checked holes at rim arent blocked?

RevoltingPeasant · 18/04/2012 15:48

Yes. And I have trimmed the stem, and moved it low down, and everything - exTENsive correspondence with nice nurses at Mooncup.com!!

I think I have just developed a horrid ExpandingMinge (TM) since stopping pilates.

I haven't even had a baby yet Sad I am a freak.

On the plus side, I am guessing this will mean they walk out......

MeKathryn · 18/04/2012 15:57

I'm all for mooncups but I burnt mine sterilising it ... Blush

valiumredhead · 18/04/2012 16:04

revolting when you are inserting it, do you twist it to seal the rim?

valiumredhead · 18/04/2012 16:05

I never sterilise mine, none else I know does either, just give it a REALLY thorough clean with a toothbrush which is kept apart from family tooth brushes Grin

RevoltingPeasant · 18/04/2012 17:00

valium hmm not always but I never did and it always sealed. Might have to try but not holding out much hope. I am just MassiveMingeWoman - the superpowers are not that great, tbh Sad

valiumredhead · 18/04/2012 17:55

Give it a go - just a half twist.

ooer · 18/04/2012 19:26

Used to have this problem until I switched to Lil-lets. 2 DCs with massive heids, forceps deliveries both.

Bigger absorbencies best for me, and have to take some care with insertion to ge tthem exactly in the right place. Tried mooncup but it used to slip down and annoy my scar.

UpYaKilt · 18/04/2012 19:39

I found this too with applicator tampons, pre children and I'm a midwife so do lots of pelvic floor exercises myself every time I mention them to a mum! Definitely think that lilets expand much more widthways and suit the shorter fanjo. If you're uncomfortable about using non-applicator and touching yourself, are you sure you're putting the applicator ones far enough in? Perhaps they're a bit too far down so your muscles squeeze them out rather than hold them in?

mummiekins · 18/04/2012 21:29

Revolting
My periods were so heavy my mooncup always leaked. Not hugely, but leaked so I used a slim line pad with it.

THEN
I got mirena, periods over time got lighter and lighter (now they have buggered off hooray)

Mooncup stopped leaking. I did not change my insertion technique.

I would say that heavy gush out in two days then dribble for four type periods are just not worth having. No matter what you use, it will leak.

ivanapoo · 18/04/2012 22:53

Another recommendation for lillet applicators. Only place I can find them to buy is in Savers and Waitrose though.

Def the best for stopping leaks too.

Mummiekins - I had same prob with mooncup - fine on lighter days but would leak on heavier ones. And yes I twisted the shit out of it.

MeconiumHappens · 18/04/2012 23:42

Another vote for mooncup!

lookoveryourshoulder · 19/04/2012 00:44

... thank God I don't have these worries any longer.....

I just need Moisturiser .... lashings of it...

BustleInYourHedgerow · 19/04/2012 00:51

I always have to take out tampons to pee... I thought everybody did?? They just don't go any further up. I must have a very short vagina.

oceanstwo · 19/04/2012 06:12

Dh says that things don't feel different to pre-DD (although she's 20m so it's quite a while ago!!).

Maybe I have been stretched. I was quite lax in my pelvic floor exercises..

Well if I dont get with child this month I'll try lillets-think our huge tesco's sells the applicator sort..
