AIBU to let them clean the bowl?

I have made cakes this morning for after lunch. Just like my Grandma and Mam before me, I always let the DCs scoop up the last bits with a spoon when I have finished filling the fairy cake cases.

My friend was horrified to see me do this and told me it was a disgusting and potentially dangerous thing to do. I may have said "Meh" to this.

So, AIBU to let the DCs have the lovely left-overs?

I didnt make cakes with ds while i was pregnant as I was reluctantly being carefull.

Cake mix tastes better than the cake, my lot love it and our cakes always end up rather small lol

Eldest son and I both caught salmonella from eating raw cake mix. I used free range eggs from a major supermarket. It was awful . My son was only a toddler at the time and it was weeks before my son recovered . it has permanently affected me. This was around the time that vaccination came in so there may well be not a problem now but I would never risk it again.
