Am I just a lazy cow or do other people do this?

Start rushing around tidying up about 15 minutes before the OH comes home from work?

It's my day off and I've spent it reading, playing with DD and drinking tea!!!

I should go and do the dishes.........

No but DP does it!

fussbucket · 13/04/2012 18:14

I'm an even lazier cow. Haven't tidied all day, don't intend to, it's a waste of valuable MNetting time!

suburbandream · 13/04/2012 18:15

Grin yes I do too! Although I'm not going to bother today because it's Friday and I just can't be arsed! And anyway - if it's your "day off" then you shouldn't feel guilty, you've been looking after DD all day not actually having a free day Smile.

Ghoulwithadragontattoo · 13/04/2012 18:16

I'm the same as you - always rush round at the last minute and he always looks a bit horrified at mess...

Melindaaa · 13/04/2012 18:18

My house would be a total bomb-site if i didn't do anything all day? I could never get it all done in 15 minutes. I have to keep on top of everything through the day, or my temper frays and the children's behaviour deteriorates.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 13/04/2012 18:20

I have to tidy through the day or I get really irritated. Don't think dh cares though!

SparkyMcSparrow · 13/04/2012 18:23

I do this all the time!

I do small bits throughout the day but the last half hour before dh gets home is manic.

I just need to organise myself better! Confused

suburbandream · 13/04/2012 18:23

I find that once I've tidied up, the place looks like a tip again within 5 minutes so no point doing it til the last second Grin

ragged · 13/04/2012 18:40

Checking in as Yet Another Lazy Cow.

SauvignonBlanche · 13/04/2012 19:38

That's what my DH does, it's chaos if I don't ring him and warn him that I'm leaving work.

cazboldy · 13/04/2012 19:41

I don't.... I'm lucky, his mother was a slattern, so as long as he is fed and given clean clothes he thinks he is living in the lap of luxury Grin

LoopyLoeufdePaques · 13/04/2012 19:42

It wouldn't even cross my mind. I think DH might do this sometimes though.

I don't mind him knowing we live in a pigsty. He lives here, after all.

startail · 13/04/2012 19:46

Moo!

Bogeyface · 13/04/2012 19:51

{Stands up to be counted as a lazy cow}

Suburban, that is my theory exactly!

Melindaaa what happens in your house that cant be tidied in 15 minutes?! Or do you live in a mansion with 34 kids? :o

Yama · 13/04/2012 19:52

Em ... is your the boss?

Bogeyface · 13/04/2012 19:52

Suburban I should also say that it works because I can say "Well it was tidy when you got home, so it must be YOU that made the mess" :o:o:o

Secrecy · 13/04/2012 20:03

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

You Are Not The Only One Grin

GilbertandGeorge · 13/04/2012 20:04

Hahahahaha too.

I would never dream of this. By dh does.

GilbertandGeorge · 13/04/2012 20:05

But, not by

I never do this. I might tidy up because I want to, but never so it looks good for when my husband comes home from work. Anyway he doesn't care. He's as messy as me.

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 13/04/2012 20:06

If DH is looking after the kids he doesn't bother attempting to look like he's done anything if he really hasn't achieved a lot,so I'm buggered if I'm going to run around like a 1950's housewife for him!

I haven't hoovered today as myself and DS went to an ice cream parlour instead! Much more fun. Nothing wrong with a day off :o

NeverHaveIEver · 13/04/2012 20:31

Yes! We did post-holiday laundry, painting, trekked to playground and visited granny today while the house looked like the wreck of the Hesperus. Am sweating now and DH has just sat down to his dinner.

Not that he'd give a shit. He'd either ignore it or start cleaning himself. And it's only because we're on hols. Normally, the DCs are wrecking their CM's house instead Grin
