...use expressions like "I was a little bit sick in my mouth" and "I spat all over my keyboard".

You didn't actually did you?

Oh, childbirth has lent a worrying truth to the maxim 'I nearly let a little bit of wee out! Blush

Psammead · 30/03/2012 15:59

PMSL.

Ummm.. Blush oops.

Pascha · 30/03/2012 15:59

They are horrid expressions, but sometimes they make me laugh so hard a little bit of wee comes out Smile

MardyBra · 30/03/2012 15:59

Lol is acceptable if you do actually laugh out loud.

OP posts:
OhChristFENTON · 30/03/2012 16:00

I have wondered the same myself, Mardy. What's with all this ROFL-ing too, if you were you wouldn't be able to type that, would you?

Pascha · 30/03/2012 16:00

I don't really understand lolol(olololol...) though. It doesn't make grammatical sense.

Psammead · 30/03/2012 16:01

I actually did get coffee up my nose once because of MN, and I did once spit on the screen, but that was because I was choking and was not pleasant AT ALL.

MardyBra · 30/03/2012 16:01

Lol is unacceptable when you use it a bit like punctuation lol instead of full stops of commas lol because it makes you sound like a tittering nethun imbecile.

OP posts:
GhastlyBespoke · 30/03/2012 16:01

LMFAO

If only I could.

MissFaversham · 30/03/2012 16:02

I used to think lol meant you were being lazy Grin

nenevomito · 30/03/2012 16:04

I have managed to choke on my drink reading something on Mumsnet.

The choking made a bit of wee come out and I ended up on the floor.

True Story.

MardyBra · 30/03/2012 16:04

Yes I can't imagine anyone would actually ROFL at something they've read on an Internet forum.

Oddly I don't have a problem with LMAO because I feel it's an expression rather than a pretend statement of fact iyswim.

OP posts:
BareBums · 30/03/2012 16:05

I could say coughing myself laughing cmsl but that's not as funny - it is accurate though :o

MardyBra · 30/03/2012 16:06

Yeah right babyheave? And then your arse fell off?

OP posts:
EasyOnTheChips · 30/03/2012 16:06

I laughed once and inhaled a quaver and nearly died laughing.

this is true

BareBums · 30/03/2012 16:07

babyheave :o

OhChristFENTON · 30/03/2012 16:07

babyheave I meant to say earlier, but I missed the moment and it all went , erm poof

anyway...

when you offered to tell that story, you know the one about the hairdryer, please let's hear it again Grin

GhastlyBespoke · 30/03/2012 16:08

Yeah but, but, if your arse isn't lying on the floor independent from your body then it's not true. It's pretendy.

redrubyshoes · 30/03/2012 16:08

I really do bleach my eyes and brain.

Sootie · 30/03/2012 16:09

I have sicked up in my mouth, but that's when I was pregnant and suffering from acid reflux.

I have nearly splurted all my tea out onto my laptop though - not on mumsnet, but on this site I found about trolling on dating sites....I can't remember the web address but this man went around drawing ugly exaggerated pictures of women he'd met on a dating site. I know its cruel and horrible, but the pictures were just hilarious!

EasyOnTheChips · 30/03/2012 16:10

OI babyheave and Fenton - why did that thread go poof?

MardyBra · 30/03/2012 16:10

I think some of you are falsely claiming to be purchasers of tena lady.

Not all though as I know crazynanna some of my fellow peris need them.

OP posts:
Sposh · 30/03/2012 16:10

Everything online must be exaggerated. So a simple lol means you smiled enigmatically to yourself. A pmsl (in small case) means you really smiled. Capitalised PMSL means a small chuckle and a ROFLMAO meant you tittered. Slightly.

Gawd knows what acronym you'd have to post if you actually literally peed yourself.

youarekidding · 30/03/2012 16:14

I have literally spat pepsi out on my keyboard ready MN. It had a sticky end Sad

OhChristFENTON · 30/03/2012 16:14

I dunno Easy . I think the OP inadvertently stirred up a bit of bad feeling about quiche threads, which weren't in fact quiche threads but very important support threads to those who frequented them.

Didn't see the going of it though, had to take the olds out for their Friday early bird spesh.
