To think that parents that let their ds pull their pants down and pee in the street are just training them to pee anywhere they want when their older

I get really annoyed by parents that let their ds piss anywhere they want as soon as they need the loo. I once spotted someone letting their son pee up a tree in the communal gardens to my flat. I thought you would kill him if he was caught doing that when he's older and drunk. So why train him to do it now.

I don't think I've ever seen a boy over the age of about 4 weeing in public.

You mention you have a DD OP.
I wonder if you had a DS, whether you would let him have a sneaky pee behind a bush.
This little problem is SO much easier with boys.

I would love to be able to wee standing up. Just saying.

A very small child needs to go when they need to go. I would let DS wee against a tree if he had to. I think I'd rather he be 'in control' of the wee rather than wetting himself. That must be disheartening for a child who is potty training.

OP I take deep offence at your original post only detailing boys. Both girls and boys need to pee you know! I think you are very sexist. You only have a DD, smog much?

Think yabu, when they need to go, they need to go. When he was 2/3 there were lots of "country pees" when out and about (we live in a rural area). My ds is 5 now and able to hang on until we find a toilet 99 per cent of the time, but he has on the odd occasion had to pee in an alley drain or some such. He has reached the slightly self conscious stage now as doesn't want anyone to see his pants or bum, so will make an effort to hold it. I see this as a natural progression, the learn around 4/5 to be more socially aware, to tell earlier etc.

And yes dogs piss everywhere so I doubt your precious tree would be unsullied even if no child ever peed again in public.

well today ds4 peed in the playground again BUT he did tell me he needed to go this time, so we went to the furthest corner we did and squeezed in behind a bush right up against the fence and he weed into the bush, totally out of sight etc, so that was more acceptable than last time! Grin

I find small boys peeing in public cute so cute in fact that I seriously thinking of purchasing a " pissing " boy statue for the garden
