To really appreciate the non fluffyness of MN?

In comparison to another parenting forum I am a member of - I really like the way that MN is not all walking on eggshells-like.

Maybe I´m just bitchy - but surely no-one is as sweetness and light as all that "hun" and "bless you" from Other Forums would lead us to believe?

No-one is sweetness and light all the time...hence the reason MN has an abusable name change function Grin

Where is Rhubarb the Valiant? I feel she may be needed on this thread.

SparkyMcSparrow · 22/03/2012 18:51

Yanbu!

Sockspence · 22/03/2012 18:51

Everyone needs a stern-but-kind "do fuck off, dear" occasionally.

OddBoots · 22/03/2012 18:54

I think there is a place for both. I do like a lot of the forthright stuff you get here but sometimes I do wish there was a little bit more respect (which I know is a different thing to fluff). I'm not sure I would have coped well here when I was a very new mum just finding my feet, it's only now I have a bit more experience (and a few more years on me) that I feel robust enough for somewhere like this.

I read the ann summers thread in news on NM (more that enough to make a generalised comment on the whole of NM Grin) and thinking about it afterwards felt that some of the comments were patronising - sort of 'if it bothers you don't go there', I am not quoting but can't be arsed don't have time right now to cut and paste, which is pretty pointless attitude on a discussion board.

I haven't seen any others, but 'hun' and 'bless you' would set my teeth on edge!

OhChristFENTON · 22/03/2012 19:10

I think Rhubs went off in a huff after the last 'other site' criticism Sad

I do prefer it here myself, shan't say why...

purplepansy · 22/03/2012 20:14

YADNBU. I find myself wondering if half the women I know in RL (not my friends, just school gate mums etc) are really so fluffy. All the cooing over photos of (fairly unattractive) DCs, the language (hun/bless etc), the smily smily smiling, the loud parenting...is everyone on drugs or am I just an evil cow?

Whatmeworry · 22/03/2012 20:19

Where have all the frothers gone in the last few days? AIBU is like NM!

There was a "No sex with DH AIBU?" thread on a few days ago that stopped dead at 30 posts, those are usually good for 30 pages!

lesley33 · 22/03/2012 20:22

You are an evil cow pansy

I left the other forum a few months back i did enjoy it but i found it very false and people were too nice and not at all truthful , I do think you can be truthful and say what you think without being mean , I like it her its honest and friendly inbetween all the cunts and whatnot Grin

Mrsjay · 22/03/2012 20:31

here* obviously ,

Whatmeworry · 22/03/2012 20:31

We need a bit of a froth free zone for a week or two

How come?

Is there a no froth quiche then?.

TiggyD · 22/03/2012 20:33

Drop a Netmummer and a Musnetter in the woods somewhere and come back an hour later. The Netmummer would be in a daze because there was no phone signal or because she had heard a bug in the trees somewhere. The Mumsnetter would have killed a deer by squeezing it to death between her thighs, cleaned it, cooked it with a selection of NON organic vegetables, and would be scratching her arse with an antler.

BareBums · 22/03/2012 20:37

Grin @ TiggyD

BareBums · 22/03/2012 20:45

As soon as I read nethuns telling someone their DH would leave them because they won't buy the annsummers Bj thing I knew I'd NEVER go over there.
Bunch of wack jobs if you ask me.
