AIBU about Hijackers?

I have observed that many AIBU threads are taken over by a certain few members. Particularly if if they think the OP is unreasonable. That's fine - have your say - but why turn it into something unrelated? Some posts are trolling, I can see that and it's unacceptable. I also recognise that the last few days have been a bit unusual. But really, frequent posters, what message are you sending to newbies? "Post on here and we will flame you, then we'll take the piss and hijack your thread". It doesn't inspire confidence in a site which is reknowned for being accepting, supportive and fun. No biscuits please - I don't like them.

I don't read threads like that.

Derailing a whiney thread about derailing is funny. And I'm getting bored with all the whiney, preachy posters who think they are right all the time.

tethersend · 19/03/2012 22:34

For future reference, will we be allowed to derail threads which are boring?

Or not about derailing?

lesley33 · 19/03/2012 22:36

Stratters - which posters?

tethersend - Its up to you what you do/don't derail. IMO though new or fairly new threads shouldn't be derailed unless it is F4J.

I know this can be the case. But I think some of the proposed changes are right. And it annoys me that on benefit threads anyone saying that can lead to a derailment.

I know, its a shame. I would like the chance to properly debate the issues with others with different views. But after a few months of posting on them I tend to stay of them now.

Stratters · 19/03/2012 22:44

Can't name names lesley, that would be a Personal Attack. Shock

lesley33 · 19/03/2012 22:46

I know stratters. Grin But did you mean me?

God yes lesley, you great big fat whingefest. Off to The Pit with you. Grin

lesley33 · 19/03/2012 22:52

stratters - you're one to criticise anyone considering your hoverer Shock

Seriously - I always get a bit paranoid about vague comments about certian posters.

ifyousayso · 19/03/2012 22:55

To assert that I don't like MN based on two very short posts on this thread is odd.

ifyousayso · 19/03/2012 22:58

I did get the reference to one of the threads about this thread, however.

lesley33 · 19/03/2012 22:58

Just realised the pit refers to a new thread started by Maryz.

ifyousayso · 19/03/2012 22:59

Too slow, lesley33.

lesley33 · 19/03/2012 23:01

I know Sad Well I was officially crowned the thickest MNer here Grin

ifyousayso · 19/03/2012 23:04

Won't be seeing you in the G&T freds, then.

lesley33 · 19/03/2012 23:05

No . All because I confessed I wasn't exactly sure where Birmingham was.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 19/03/2012 23:12

I love derailed threads.

And if this makes me as shallow as the gene pool on Matthew Wright's show, then so be it.

(Am I allowed to point out that I actually miss The Wright Stuff? Blush Crap as it it I used to enjoy my rant fest at the tv of a morn. Nowt like it on Aussie telly).

Fuck kittens and puppies (not literally, natch) - calves vs foals is where it's at! Where do you stand? I say <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.com.au/imgres?q=calf&hl=en&client=safari&sa=X&rls=en&biw=1425&bih=703&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=XdCOgvFN1iH1PM:&imgrefurl=www.bairnsley.com/Colour%2520-%2520calves.htm&docid=tTimiNIDHDfchM&imgurl=www.bairnsley.com/Web%252520Photos/calf%252520dun%252520(1wo).jpg&w=407&h=336&ei=B71nT6KwCuWhiAeDk5WUCg&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=619&sig=117500630890909383848&page=2&tbnh=154&tbnw=183&start=23&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:12,s:23&tx=82&ty=66" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">calf .

nenevomito · 19/03/2012 23:13

AIBU isn't here for support, its not even for 'worthwhile' threads.

Its for griping, moaning, bunfights and derailing.

...and for people who ought to know better.

I view it as "The Rosehip Rest Home for the Righteously Indignant".

nenevomito · 19/03/2012 23:14

If AIBU was a british town, it would be Skem.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 19/03/2012 23:15

If AIBU were in Harry Potter, it'd be down Knockturn Alley. Trufact.

lesley33 · 19/03/2012 23:18

I like derailed threads at this point. Just think it is rude to start them early on though.

nenevomito · 19/03/2012 23:36

Grin@ scone

If AIBU was a magazine it would be Pick Me Up.
