AIBU about Hijackers?

I have observed that many AIBU threads are taken over by a certain few members. Particularly if if they think the OP is unreasonable. That's fine - have your say - but why turn it into something unrelated? Some posts are trolling, I can see that and it's unacceptable. I also recognise that the last few days have been a bit unusual. But really, frequent posters, what message are you sending to newbies? "Post on here and we will flame you, then we'll take the piss and hijack your thread". It doesn't inspire confidence in a site which is reknowned for being accepting, supportive and fun. No biscuits please - I don't like them.

The moaning about MN is getting tedious , as is the constant references to a certain few posters

I'm just a bit fed up of people telling us how we can and can't bloody post .

If you want a more moderated site , maybe MN is not the place for you.

But seriously crystal, it isn't up to you to police other people's posts, or judge them, or say how you want MN to be.

THAT is why people are deliberately derailing your thread, because you are judging them when you are not in a position to do so. If you object to something report to MNHQ do not start (yet another) lecturing/moralising threads.

Of course anyone can post what they want on any thread. But someone else can also say - I think you were wrong to post that. That is all that is happening here.

Derailing pisses me off too...unless it's an obvious wind up thread and then it's a laugh.

But other than that, it's probably best to roll your eyes and just read one of the other 100s of threads rather than derail the OP's one because it comes across as a bit 'arrogant' for want of a better expression.

Bottom line is it's a nasty snipey thread to start and YABU

MaryZ, my point was that some AIBU posts are taken over by some members before they get the chance to develop - purely because said members don't agree. They are dominated, have the subject changed and often ridiculed. The same names often crop up. Did you not read the OP? It was an opportunity for people to comment.

And although I like that MN isn't moderated, I still think its good not to be rude.

It's only nasty and snipey if you are a hijacker.

Did you want people to come on and name names? or play guess the nasty poster game?

Well, I'm not a hijacker, and think it's nasty, sniping and stirring.

Naming names is not necessary, usualsuspect. That's not what it's about. Childish comebacks achieve nothing.

I find your thread topic tiresome, repetitive, nasty and snipey.

To be fair, maryz I have raised this on several threads. No-one took a blind bit of notice. And why should I report it? We are not children. I'm not going to wrap it up in cotton wool. Posts that are disliked by certain members are hijacked, derailed, whatever. When the same names crop up, time after time, what are people supposed to think? I have no doubt, however, that these people are being hugely supportive in other topics. It's just AIBU.
