To think you should be able to sue your mum if you weren't breastfed

and have suffered health consequences that could have been prevented by breastfeeding?

That's it, I'm all sued out now.

Unless we can sue our siblings? Can we do that?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 15/03/2012 08:27

Lesley I click on what looks like a "normal" thread and then weirdness ensues....maybe it's me!

Rhinosaurus · 15/03/2012 08:28

I've got five teenagers and I get through an inordinate amount of hair dye (to cover grey), washing powder, paracetamol, wine and spend an awful lot on clearisil, super noodles, hair products not to mention continuous shoes for their ever growing feet the size of clowns

Where do I sign?

heliumballoon · 15/03/2012 08:28

Do you want to know the worst thing? When I had DD1 and was struggling with bf, the bf counsellor attached to the hospital said to me that she thought it was only a matter of time before someone sued in the court of human rights for not being bf as a child.
As my DD1 and I were both sick in hospital, DD1 had many bottles of formula and with every one I would remember her words and cry. I really hope she is not practising any more.

lesley33 · 15/03/2012 08:29

Maybe??

But other threads like feminism are full of normal threads. AIBU or chat are a mixture of both. Or start your own normal threads?

TandB · 15/03/2012 08:29

There will be no costs to suers as all costs will be recovered from the other side.

Tee2072 · 15/03/2012 08:30

I think I'll sue my mom as she left me to cry when I was only 3 weeks old (my brother was very ill, no one remembers where my dad was) and now I have Anxiety Disorder, for which being left to cry may be a contributing factor.

Kung, will you take the case? She lives in the US, so might be a bit trickier...

TandB · 15/03/2012 08:30

I am an experienced and professional solicitor and will sort everything out for you.

[channels annoying PPI adverts]

Children were mis-sold to thousands of parents when they neither wanted or asked for them. You may not even realise you have children. You must check now.

TandB · 15/03/2012 08:31

Hmm. Tricky, Tee. Did the crying take place within this jurisdiction?

lesley33 · 15/03/2012 08:33

helium - I wouldn't think they would have a hells chance of winning, as they would have no real grounds.

But I guess she is right - after all some of the attempts to sue in America are very wierd. Like the class action (they lost) against McDonalds by parents, for making their children unhealthy. The parents in question had been feeding McDonalds meals to their kids every single day for 10-15 years! Hardly McDonalds fault. So it wouldn't surprise me if someone tried to sue.

I'd rather sue my mum for being a selfish alcoholic bitch who walked out on me & my brother when I was 11, stealing all my dad's money, bankrupting him and nearly causing his nervous breakdown.

There's more than one way to fuck up your children!

kickingking · 15/03/2012 08:38

My mum smoked occasionally while pregnant with me, tried but failed to breastfeed me, started me on solids at three months, had me eating offal by six months , used to smack me when I was naughty, wouldn't let me have the 'right' trainers as a teenager so I used to get bullied...gosh, the list is endless. I could get thousands out of suing her! And I have got health problems too!

kickingking · 15/03/2012 08:40

Oh and she used to leave me in my pram at the bottom of the garden for hours. In the winter. That piece of advice truly does baffle me, actually.

Tee2072 · 15/03/2012 08:44

Unfortunately not, Kung. It was also US based, Massachusetts, to be exact. Which is part of New England, so maybe we could make a case for it actually being the jurisdiction?

Meglet · 15/03/2012 08:44

Grin at 'children being mis-sold'.

I was bf, I'm off to the hospital later for another IBS related appointment. Protective benefits, pah.

Whatmeworry · 15/03/2012 08:45

It would be very interesting to put the supposed claims of b/f superiority to a court of law to prove a case.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 15/03/2012 08:59

But you can sue her. You just won't win. Should you wish to pay me privately to represent you in this poorly concealed attempt at Daily Mail rabble rousing I am happy to assist.

GeekCool · 15/03/2012 09:00

hahahahahaha. Yeah if I ever find my bio mum I'll be sure to tell her I'm suing. Honestly, this gave me a good giggle :D
