RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

DS hasn't slept since friday night. Neither have I. Stuffed nose keeping him awake. As a last resort, I went to three Boots on a quest for Medised then at the forth Boots they blithely told me that there was No More Medised. Well thanks medicine people. You bastards.

AIBU to want to go and do a dirty protest at Medised HQ?

Please do seek the phamacists advice though Bssh.

They might approve the use of it in that way but you should definately speak to them in case there are any contraindications with any other medications etc.

MotherMucca · 12/03/2012 22:43

Ah yes, phenergen is the cats whiskers.

Valpollicella · 12/03/2012 22:43

Honey [iiiinteresting]

Can you report back also?

BsshBossh · 12/03/2012 22:44

Oh yeah, would always check with a chemist and/or GP, Val, don't worry Smile.

beautyguru · 12/03/2012 22:44

Lol at Honey and phlegm voodoo!!! Grin Mym mum used to give me phenergan when I was a baby, got it on prescription and she said it was amazing stuff!

Honeydragon · 12/03/2012 22:45

Val I would but I don't drink Grin, I'll try and convince dh this weekend

seeker · 12/03/2012 22:45

Olbas oil is the answer.

I just find these thread baffling.

cluffyfunt · 12/03/2012 22:46

vall, how do you know that rubbing garlic on feet makes ones breath smell garlicie?

I have garlic paste and a DH who sleep heavily....

DollyTwat · 12/03/2012 22:47

Another vote for phenergen here
I only used it in emergencies (no sleep for a week) and only for 3 nights max to break the habit of waking up constantly

Whatever anyone says, if you are on your own and your children are not sleeping, you turn into a Zombie. Better to catch up with sleep and get the dc into good sleeping patterns. Mine used to be very affected by the clocks changing

Honeydragon · 12/03/2012 22:47

this is so not going to be a good week for dh's and Mumsnet feet experiments.

BupcakesandCunting · 12/03/2012 22:48

Olbas Oil = like taking a fart to shit fight.

Do you really think that I'd opt to give my child medicine if bloody Olbas oil did anything? Hmm

Isn't phenegren the same as piriton? That's what the pharmacist recommended to me for ds but said it's for over 6's where piriton is over 1? Confused

PurpleRomanesco · 12/03/2012 22:51

If it says for 6 and over then I think you should pass. I wouldn't take anything for myself that wasn't suitable because I would presume there was a very good reason.

Keep going with the Vicks! and make sure he doesn't blow his nose too much because it causes swelling and makes things worse! This lurgy is bad craic, it's been doing the rounds here too.

Valpollicella · 12/03/2012 22:51

I read it on the internet and tried it on myself and someone else once am just very clever like that Cluffy Grin

MollieO · 12/03/2012 22:52

My GP (who is also a paed registrar) told me not to use Medised (I told him I had bought it but hadn't tried it). He said that its effects on brain development in children were not established and could be an issue. I gave the unopened bottle back to the pharmacy to be destroyed.

PurpleRomanesco · 12/03/2012 22:53

Oh and piriton can makes kids go bonkers!

Valpollicella · 12/03/2012 22:53

That's interesting to know MollieO

BupcakesandCunting · 12/03/2012 22:53

I don't want to speak too soon but I think that the Vick's on feet might be working...

Honeydragon · 12/03/2012 22:54

PurpleRomanesco · 12/03/2012 22:55

cluffyfunt · 12/03/2012 22:55

I may still test it out as it sounds v interesting and funny.

Found Phenergan available to buy from various online pharmacies...might be trying it in the future...Olbas Oil is rubbish and actually makes my DD2 less likely to sleep...my HV warned me against it and said it can cause hyperactivity in some children..as can Karvol drops!! Shock

ledkr · 12/03/2012 22:56

Fear not seeker Its safe its just that people have been known to use it to get their dc to sleep

bupcakes Its not for sale,at any price Grin

All my Dr friends use it on their dc.

Valpollicella · 12/03/2012 22:57
