To think "hurrah" when Pauline Quirke admits that when she was huge it was down to general greediness!

Just sick of people not being honest!
i dont believe in people being a size 0 at all, but surely being that large is not good for your health.
She has done brilliantly!

I am not a size 10 because of my greediness. Grin

Not sure about the Lighter Life diet though. Sad

EssentialFattyAcid · 09/03/2012 11:53

really? being large is not good for your health? Please could you site your evidence for this properly

Proudnscary · 09/03/2012 11:53

It's bash the fatties day on Mumsnet - hurrah!!

Sparklingbrook · 09/03/2012 11:54

Oh no. I have done it again. I thought this was a fun thread then noticed it's AIBU. Doh!

OrmIrian · 09/03/2012 11:55

Does being honest help you lose weight then? Gosh I didn't know it was that easy.

hubbabubbabubba · 09/03/2012 11:57

Just sometimes I don't get why larger ladies complain about their weight when it's all under their own control??

I'm not going to be popular now, am I?!

OP posts:
OMGBFP · 09/03/2012 11:59

Yes because it's just that simple HBB Hmm

cerys74 · 09/03/2012 11:59

YANBU - honesty is refreshing when it's not on an issue you're sensitive about!

I'm fat because I like cake and am lazy Grin

Sparklingbrook · 09/03/2012 11:59

Wait for me Sparky

hubbabubbabubba · 09/03/2012 12:01

OMGBFP, it is really that simple! A good diet that's low in fat, and regular exercise, it really is simple.

Well I see where the OP is coming from. Pauline Quirke has said she was so big as she ate too much and didn't do any exercise. It crept on gradually. So she hasn't blamed anyone else. Put her hands up and admitted it was purely down to her.

We all know that being obese is bad. It's not new news.

Like Orm I would not be keen on Lighter Life although I have thought about it myself.

But to be honest different approaches work for different people. Having lost the weight on LL the interesting thing will be seeing if she manages to keep it off. I know a few people who have lost on LL and then put it all back on again.

cerys74 · 09/03/2012 12:03

although admitttedly I realise I am lucky in that I have no medical issues I'm struggling against

SparkyMcSparrow · 09/03/2012 12:03

As we've had a run, burnt some cals and all, would you like a slice of cake? Grin

fallenpetal · 09/03/2012 12:03

AARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Kennyp · 09/03/2012 12:03

As billly connolly said about a girl who said "i,m not fat i,m just big boned".

"its the big bone in your stomach and the big bone in your arse then", said billy.

I am fat because i eat too much, however i was even fatter because i ate FAR too much.

I love pauline quirke for being so honest. Dawn french getd right on my tits though.

Sparklingbrook · 09/03/2012 12:04

Ooh yes please Sparky. Coffee and Walnut. Grin

CiderwithBuda · 09/03/2012 12:04

Ok Hubba - I did see where you were coming from but saying things like "it's that easy" is rubbish. It"s NOT easy. Sounds it to anyone who has never had a major weight problem. Trust me it is not.

hubbabubbabubba · 09/03/2012 12:05

But how do you get big in the first place?

OP posts:
Boston2Step · 09/03/2012 12:05

It's funny how the honesty comes after the diet..... If they had been more honest with themselves to start with....

Mind you, I can't talk..

DoubleNegativePanda · 09/03/2012 12:05

Oh fuck off. Really.

OMGBFP · 09/03/2012 12:06

Can spot the people who have never had a weight problem a mile off Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 09/03/2012 12:06

Anyone else want cake?

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 09/03/2012 12:06

The vast majority of people who are overweight (myself included) are so because they eat too much and move too little. Very few are overweight because of "medical" problems

Pauline Quirke therefore is right to say she was overweight because she ate too much. Not sure that the lighter life was the way to diet though.
