To think that if someone elderly gets on a busy bus...

...they should not expect a seat?!?

I would of course give up a seat for someone elderly or less able than me but should they think they're entitled to a seat just because they're old especially if they get on bus which already has people standing?!?

I offer my seat to elderly people all the time , but I have on a few occasions caused great offence by doing so!

Hullygully · 08/03/2012 16:29

They should have times when people are allowed to travel, old people shouldn't be allowed on public transport in rush hour, not when they don't even pay.

hazeyjane · 08/03/2012 16:29

My mum is 70, she uses the bus all the time, to get to her voluntary job, go to the hospital, do her shopping, visit friends, you know day to day life, not just for something to do, ffs.

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2012 16:29

How do you know Debbie? What are they doing then, just riding the bus all day? Confused Although it's probably warmer than their houses in the winter to be fair. Sad

Hullygully · 08/03/2012 16:31

yy, just about to say that. I know several old people who ride buses day and night so they don't have to pay for heating. tight arses.

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2012 16:33

There is always the library to sit in, but obviously they may need to get the bus there and that would annoy people. Sad

Hullygully · 08/03/2012 16:34

yes but libraries don't move and there isn't much to look at out of the window

ouryve · 08/03/2012 16:34

Warm buses? Our buses are only ever warm in the middle of summer. Then they blast a jet of hot air onto our legs and everyone gets really sweaty. They're cold and damp in winter.

lesley33 · 08/03/2012 16:35

hully Grin
debbie is basically saying old people shouldn't be allowed on buses at all, because all those working people should get to have empty buses free of old people

OrmIrian · 08/03/2012 16:35

"just for something to do" Really? Bloody hell, old age does sound inviting Hmm

I would love to visit Debbie's neck of the woods just to watch the dramatic spectacle of massive herds of OAPs stampeding onto the bus trampling commuters under their zimmer frames and walking sticks. Msut be an amazing sight.

lesley33 · 08/03/2012 16:35

hully Grin stop it!

lesley33 · 08/03/2012 16:36

No orm not commuters - working people who don't work 9-5

Hullygully · 08/03/2012 16:36

No I really feel Debbie's got a point. I can't stand old people stinking out the buses with their RichTea complexions and false teeth.

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2012 16:37

Yes Orm all dashing onto the bus for no reason at all as they don't have anything to do. Confused

Hullygully · 08/03/2012 16:37

tight arsed stinky bus riding old people.

EUTHANAISE THE FUCKERS

lesley33 · 08/03/2012 16:37

So thsi is your new response - be even more unreasonable than any mad posters?

Hullygully · 08/03/2012 16:41

well I wouldn't call it exactly new...

Bring out your old and let's have em shot.

OrmIrian · 08/03/2012 16:42

Shot! And melted down for glue.

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2012 16:42

Then all the buses will be empty and all the bus routes cancelled. Result. I won't have to get stuck behind buses all the time. Grin

lesley33 · 08/03/2012 16:43

And we won't have to pay taxes subsidising all those buses - result!

Hullygully · 08/03/2012 16:44

Yes! Burn the damn buses and their damn old people. Slash and burn. Let's have pyres on the street corners and pomanders to avert the stench of burning tena ladies.

headfairy · 08/03/2012 16:44

Blimey, this thread has turned in to some kind of online version of Viz!

OriginalJamie · 08/03/2012 16:45

"travel for the sake of something to do"

How very dare they?

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2012 16:46

I have seen old people in the supermarket. Is that allowed, or only between certain times? I assume not allowed at the weekends because they have all week to go out so not fair on working people to clog up the supermarkets then.
