To think that the word is pram

not buggie, stroller or any other toss.

I'll punch anyone in the gob who dares disagree with me

Prams are different to pushchairs/strollers/buggies. They're flat-bottomed carriages, not chairs on wheels.

My gob is ready for a pummelling.

cocolepew · 06/03/2012 16:03

No they're not

OP posts:
JaneMare · 06/03/2012 16:03

what about 'travel system'?

Grin
Kayano · 06/03/2012 16:04

I have a travel system Grin

bishboschone · 06/03/2012 16:05

I hate the word pram , a perambulater is very different to a buggy / stroller . Pram sounds chavvy to me . I call my vehicle for moving baby a pushchair as that is exactly what it is .

cocolepew · 06/03/2012 16:05

Oh for crying out loud! It's pram with a car seat on it

OP posts:
lesley33 · 06/03/2012 16:05

coco - Do you think you are being a tad....aggressive? Hmm

cocolepew · 06/03/2012 16:06

Chavvy!? Shock

Silver Cross has prams and they're well posh.

OP posts:
cocolepew · 06/03/2012 16:06

No I'm not, fuck off.

OP posts:
FannyFifer · 06/03/2012 16:06

A pram is not the same as a buggy.

ThatVikRinA22 · 06/03/2012 16:07

well i had a pram and a pushchair. but im an old gimmer.

cocolepew · 06/03/2012 16:07

I'm right, ok?

OP posts:
JaneMare · 06/03/2012 16:07

i agree though, if the baby lies down, it's a pram

if it sits up, pushchair

RetiredDJ · 06/03/2012 16:08

cocolepew Why does it bother you what others call it? Genuine question, not having a dig.

ShatnersBassoon · 06/03/2012 16:08

Pram is chavvy? Grin Do you mean prams are chavvy, or calling a pram is chavvy, or calling a pushchair is chavvy? I'm confused and can't remember what a pram is now.

SpottyTeacakes · 06/03/2012 16:09

I have a pushchair. A pram lays down flat all the time even when the baby is sitting up Confused

GinPalace · 06/03/2012 16:09

I have to admit when I was expecting first baby and trying to work out best car seat / pram combo all the wide variety of terminology/jargon was mighty confusing for a while - felt like it was a club to which I hadn't got the words to belong - then I discovered a travel system was a pram with a car seat and it got less confusing after that. Grin Blush

ShatnersBassoon · 06/03/2012 16:09

I meant 'calling a pram a pram is chavvy, or calling a pushchair a pram is chavvy?'. My brain's addled by the bizarre snobbery contemplation Grin.

Givememorecheese · 06/03/2012 16:09

Apparently I have a travel system, but as far as I'm concerned I have a pram, or a pushchair, depending on whether the carrycot bit or the chair bit is attached to the frame.

So I agree with you that it's not a buggy, stroller or any other toss, but I also agree with Shatner. It's only a pram if it's flat-bottomed, if it's a chair it's a pushchair.

BoattoBolivia · 06/03/2012 16:09

I had a pram, with a proper flat carrycot, which came off and you could put a chair, so it became a pushchair. We now have a buggy, unbrella fold style and lightweight. Those are the only acceptable uses of the words.

(Is stroller an Americanism?)

eurochick · 06/03/2012 16:10

I've been wondering for a while when pushchairs became buggies.

We'll all be saying "diaper" soon I bet.

LiamsMummyJaz · 06/03/2012 16:10

JaneMare they can sit and lie in my pram/pushchair effort though! I just call mine a pram. I think Confused I don't know really!

Salmotrutta · 06/03/2012 16:11

Stroller is American isn't it?

We had a pram and a pushchair for our two.

And pram is most certainly not chavvy - it takes far too long to say perambulator, that's all.

cocolepew · 06/03/2012 16:11

DJ because I'm irrationally angry.

OP posts:
JaneMare · 06/03/2012 16:11

one cannot lie down in a pushCHAIR - the clue's in the question
