I have a Silver Cross pram and a Graco buggy, the pram was a baby-mostly-lying-flat-facing-me jobbie, the buggy is a baby-mostly-sitting-up-facing away-from-me affair.

Well I'm as pedantic as the next pedant and would also happily refer to everything in as ancient a terminology as possible (we have wirelesses in this house, for example) but whilst pram is an abbreviation of perambulator, nobody, since the King abdicated tends to use it. The word pram is not chavvy either. I had a Silver Cross pram which was described thus by its makers and very lush and beautiful it was too.

Pushchairs are pushchairs. Children sit, or lay back in them and are pushed around. Buggies are a flimsier (but more easily folded) version of a pushchair. Usually with fewer reclining options.

Strollers, on the other hand, exist on the Other Side of the Atlantic. Rather like moms.
