very very cross, the girl is pregnant, stressful enough, she is working with a small child, stressful. She has been caught out so we feel the need to make her go on this morning and answer her crimes... get chucked out of a shit competition because of it- don't even start me on natasha giggs wtf, clearly banging your husbands brother is ok, smoking is not. Poor girl, I feel disgusted that she was made to feel like such a villan.

LilacWaltz · 06/03/2012 11:08

I'm sure she chose to go on this morning! Nobody made her..... Like nobody made her choose to smoke!!!

LilacWaltz · 06/03/2012 11:09

(and this morning will be paying her for it)

DinahMoHum · 06/03/2012 11:09

i think its a bit crap too, poor girl.

TheSinglePringle · 06/03/2012 11:11

I do feel everyone is attacking her over it. One pic of her smoking and everyone's shouting that she should lose her job and she's a shit mum.

Kerry Katona has won mum of the year so its not exactly a great award any way

fortoday · 06/03/2012 11:12

just feel like there a lot of 'perfect' moms out there that have an opinion on her- she is human, makes her mistakes like the best of us, bet she feels absolutely terrible- nothing like this humoungous stress to make her smoke more!

OP posts:
Honeydragon · 06/03/2012 11:12

Why are you comparing her to Natasha Giggs? People do have strong feelings about pregnancy, it is a given. The media know this and use to their advantage. No SS is using the coverage to hers.

Whole thing is a bit meh.

SquidgyBiscuits · 06/03/2012 11:12

Well millions of women around the world go through the stresses of being pregnant whilst working and looking after children. Many of those manage it without inhaling poison that is proven to damage your unborn child.

I'm glad she's being vilified for it. It may just make other women who would smoke during pregnancy think twice.

OrmIrian · 06/03/2012 11:12

?

I've never heard of her, couldn't give a toss if she smokes and didn't vilify her.

MonsterBookOfTysons · 06/03/2012 11:12

FWIW I don't smoke.
I could never smoke or drink during pregnancy so have little sympathy.
Also you have to be pretty stupid to think as a celeb you wouldn't get 'caught'

Honeydragon · 06/03/2012 11:12

Now ss is using the coverage. Sorry typo

LilacWaltz · 06/03/2012 11:14

She us a bit of a has been really

And anyway, she us supposed to be a 'singer', so neither her voice or her baby mean much to her

fortoday · 06/03/2012 11:15

whats ss?
natasha giggs has been nominated for mother of year- says it all about the award really!

OP posts:
LilacWaltz · 06/03/2012 11:15

Maybe she staged it for a bit of 'fame' and to get herself some cash.... Must be drying up a bit

What does she actually do??

DodieSmith · 06/03/2012 11:16

YANBU

Llanbobl · 06/03/2012 11:17

Fortoday you're not Stacey are you? Just wondered as you seem a tad steamed up about the whole thing.

FWIW I think she's irresponsible - she's in the public eye - and let's face it many women are likely to have much more stressful pregnancies than she is and you don't see them puffing away do you? I just don't get the whole "I can't stop it's sooooo stressful thing" - is she going to give the baby a fag when it's born - no - so why do it now?

sassymcnassy · 06/03/2012 11:19

I#m pretty sure no-one actually forced her onto some stupid morning show to answer to being a knob. She's a media whore whose ambition is to get herself in the papers, now she's done it, and people think she's a silly cow. Whish she is.

So what is your problem? And why would you possibly care?

JasperJohns · 06/03/2012 11:20

Well I am glad that someone in the public eye, someone held up (previously) as a mum of the year, therefore, someone some might look up to has been vilified for smoking whilst pregnant.

fortoday · 06/03/2012 11:20

no i'm not! And I was a smoker before i got pregnant with my dd1 - I smoked 20 a day, had a stressful job etc. So from that side i could take the attitude of 'i did it' why can't she, but i just feel terrible for her, maybe I am having a sensitive day usually i'm the first to pick fault!

OP posts:
CowboysGal · 06/03/2012 11:21

isn't the opinion of the society around us a good tool for pointing out acceptable/unacceptable behaviour? I think it's right for people to get their knickers in a twist about it just as I think it's right when people are judgey about pregnant women getting hammered or injecting drugs.
I also think it was a very silly remark (if quoted accurately) to say that her doctor had told her it was healthier for the baby if she smoked than to go through the stress of quitting. I have heard many young pregnant mums trott out this line and think it's said as an excuse for the guilt they feel. Any doctor who thinks a pregnant woman smoking is better for the unborn baby than the alleged stress of quitting must have skipped a bit of training.

LilacWaltz · 06/03/2012 11:23

Loving the 'stressful job' bit!! What is her 'job' again?? What does she actually do? Anyone?

WorraLiberty · 06/03/2012 11:26

Lilac

I don't know how much TV you watch but Stacey has a lot of work it would seem. She always seems to be filming something or other, or appearing on shows.

Good on her, she's earning her own money while she can, by doing what she can.

scuzy · 06/03/2012 11:27

it comes with being a "celebrity". they have a duty in a way. so i am glad she is being vilified otherwise it will be seen to be ok to smoke while pregnant. so pregnant people smoke .... doesnt mean its right? this is not a case of safety in numbers. its wrong!

and i am a 20 a day smoker who was off them for 2 years while pregnant with ds and went back on them (stupidly).

Honeydragon · 06/03/2012 11:29

SS Stacy Solemen

Oh now I get why you mentioned Natasa Giggs.

Still a "meh" here

musicismylife · 06/03/2012 11:58

Thank you OP, people are such hypocrites. Like I mentioned in the last thread that someone mentioned, I don't like people having abortions, they still do for the same reasons such as stress, etc.

Like I say, I do not judge. Is it not ok that she smokes (IMO), but I am not her, I have not walked a mile in her shoes. It is not ok (IMO) that people having abortions, but they still do it but again, I have not walked a mile in their shoes........

It just seems that some people can justify one and not the other

HYPOCRITES!!

takingiteasy · 06/03/2012 12:02

I think she is getting it harsh but not totally undeserved and if it stops others following in her footsteps then good. I remember pics of Kate Garraway smoking, don't think she copped this much grief.

I watched SS on This Morning, correct me if I'm wrong anyone but it's interesting she didn't mention the advice she'd been given by her GP apparantly, that stopping would be more stressful.
