Had enough of their agenda being forced down my throat whether I want it or not. Major recruitment drive going on lately, and serious opression of other posters views. Just gets worse and worse. This was not what I believed MN was supposed to be about.

I'm off.

OP posts:
Hullygully · 21/02/2012 20:53

I am a hand maiden. Luckily it is a quite undemanding hand. Just a little light moisturising and the odd nail filing.

SinicalSanta · 21/02/2012 20:53

enemy?
traitors? Never said by a genuine MN feminist, I'd bet anything on that

anti-feminist? Well, maybe. When an argument is teased apart it may be antifeminist parts. You have to be able to say that in a political discussion, it's not all hunnybunnying in a debate thread. Support/advice threads are totally different, of course.

catgirl1976 · 21/02/2012 20:54

My left hands ok but the right one is a nightmare. Just slaps at random

SinicalSanta · 21/02/2012 20:54

in parts

SigmundFraude · 21/02/2012 20:55

SinicalSanta · 21/02/2012 20:55

Lol catgirl, is it like dr strangeloves involuntary salutes ?

(not accusing you of Godwin or owt of course Grin)

catgirl1976 · 21/02/2012 20:56

an intimate wash apparantly

AyeRobot · 21/02/2012 20:56

Yes, a google search of Traitor + Mumsnet reveals pages and pages of accusations. Spot on. And very current with the anti-feminist call too. Seen that loads as well.

FFS. Post anti-women or victim-blaming stuff and you'll get called on it. Defend it if you like, it's an open forum. Sulking and grudge-holding seems a bit self-defeating, though.

Goldenbear · 21/02/2012 20:58

I don't see it as radical at all and TBH haven't had my eyes open to any new feminist perspectives.

I am 34 and since I was about 16 have had very strong views on many different things but I was constantly battling with my step dad over what constituted Date Rape and was very vocal when he expected my mum to wait on him- my biological Dad said it was because he was a but thick!

My point is before I came to mumsnet in 2006 I already had very strong views, that my friends hold to. From what I've seen on here it is pretty moderate.

I felt set upon the other week regarding on an unreasonable thread but then so what, I'll get over it.

SinicalSanta · 21/02/2012 20:59

Would you like to precis the reaction to that article that was had over at FWR, Sigmund?

No?

well, I'll do it for you.

Hmmm.
Interesting points.
Let's give it some thought rather than dismissing it out right.
Well, on balance, I don't agree.

That's the flavour

runningforthebusinheels · 21/02/2012 20:59

I know the moment's probably gone now, and I haven't read to the end of this thread yet, BUT rhino can I just say that there was (as far as I saw) only one post which was deleted on the strip clubs thread - and that was by Sigmunda - fancy that.

Sigmund, that's not MN Confused

catgirl1976 · 21/02/2012 21:02

I know you were TSC,:) but there are people who believe that - I was just using it as an example of an extreme view

catgirl1976 · 21/02/2012 21:02

sinical it is just like that

but worse

i'd leave the bastard but its stuck to my arm :(

edam · 21/02/2012 21:07

Is this essentially a complaint about pesky feminists daring to post outside the feminist topic? Is the OP really demanding that feminists not be allowed to chat, or have children with SN, or watch TV, or read books, or be interested in the news, or even find out if TABU?

MrGin · 21/02/2012 21:11

That whole "strip clubs" thread in chat was case and point.. it was SUPPOSED to be there for everyone to discuss.. but by the end of it, there were only radfems high fiving each other and haranging MrGin... they'd bullied, insulted and chased everyone else off the thread one by one

Ahem.. You know I sympathise with SF.

There is nothing wrong with expressing ones views, and nothing wrong in my book with any fight for equality.

However there is a pattern. A feminist, one of a little group, post in chat or AIBU saying 'hey, I'm just a mum without an agenda and goodness me I wasn't sure if I should have posted in Style and Beauty or Feminism so I posted in Chat'

Where as infact they do have an agenda. Which is to debate a feminist issue. Except it never is a debate, it's about 5 or 6 mates who basically shout the loudest and bully or dismiss anyone who doesn't completely agree with them.

And they display all the ugly traits of arrogance, narrow mindedness, bullying and hypocracy of type of man they hate. It's ugly.

The Amsterdam thread however seemed to backfire somewhat when 90% of the posters thought the OP was a prat. But they still bullied SF into the ground.

It is easy to avoid the feminism section. But when they come come on day trips to AIBU and Chat with a hidden agenda, and start kicking heads in I think it's a bit decietful.

As said. These threads are supposed to be for everyone.

I thought SF put up a bloody good fight. I'll miss her.

edam · 21/02/2012 21:15

MrGin, I refer you to my post immediately before yours - are you demanding that feminists be prevented from chatting, discussing books or TV or style & beauty or having children with SN? That'd make MN a pretty weird site - would women have to sign a pledge before commenting on anything outside the feminist boards 'I do solemnly declare that I believe I am inferior to men'?

runningforthebusinheels · 21/02/2012 21:16

Can you explain how the only deletion was sigmunds then MrG?

If everyone else was so bullying on that thread?

Arf at day trips to chat - can't feminists post on chat?

"Feminists - know your place"

FreudianSlipper · 21/02/2012 21:16

you seem to be getting a little fixated with this

only time i have seen feminists in force apart from on the feminist board is when the subject is about an issue that many feminist feel strongly about, are we meant to shut up and keep quiet because others do not agree with what we are saying but it is ok for others to keep bashing away

thankfully feminisim is here to stay in all its forms

SinicalSanta · 21/02/2012 21:17

'These threads are for everyone'

Even feminists, I would have thought.

Wanting equality is not exactly 'an agenda', any more than wanting oxygen is.

catgirl1976 · 21/02/2012 21:17

Everyone is free to post anywhere and rightly so

Don't know about ny others but SF was bullied on this thead

PattiMayor · 21/02/2012 21:19

You agree with SF MrGin? Why, you surprise me Hmm

How dare RadFems leave the feminism section when topics they have an opinion on come up in Active Convos?

Do share these threads where RadFems are posting in chat purely to ... actually, do what exactly? What are you saying? I'm not at all clear. That RadFems post in Chat to incite debate and discussion (I don't think that's against the rules)? That RadFems post in other areas of the board to have a little public clique with their mates? I'm really confused.

Ooo now I've just thought of a new feminist issue.

How about a quota system? Only it can be feminists, and they can only post x amount of times on a thread outside the FWR topic and only x amount of feminists per thread?

That would stop too many of them agreeing with each other. Tis upsetting for the others, you see, when too many people disagree with them.
