to think council shouldn't pay for lollypop lady outside private school?

is this not the council subsidising private education? Just annoys me to see all the massive 4 x 4s dropping pfbs and then there's a lollypop lady there laid on by the council? Shouldn't the school organise one themselves?

It's not just the posh kids though - one of the lollypop ladies by me works outside the catholic school - surely my taxes shouldn't subsidis the RC church.

And then, the one in the other direction lets the secondary school age children cross with the little ones, I keep aiming for them but couldn't get a direct hit without damaging a small one.

And just to put the icing on the cake - sometimes parents cross the road while the lollipop lady stops the traffic - I mean ADULTS!!!!

Why is that a problem to you. Secondary school kids are completely dozy. Road accidents is a big problem in eleven year olds who have been wrapped up in cotton wool and never allowed to walk to school.

Adults sometimes use traffic lights to cross a road. I don't see what the difference is to you between being stopped by traffic lights and a lollipop lady.

Trust me if someone gets run over then that causes far more traffic distruption than a lollipop lady.

oh god is this really bugging you ? the lollypop lady is employed by the council and you dont think its fair , 4X4s drop children off at out local state school should they send their children to private school then as they can obviously afford it if they have a big car , Confused the crossing patrol is there to cross a council road regardless if the children are rich or not ,

The only thing I will say is that expats like me who have houses in the UK SHOULD have to pay rent to the Police, council and Fire Department. We don't pay tax and whilst our tenants pay council tax, it is ultimately us who are profiting. Why not have a standard service charge?

I actually don't think it's right that the PFBS' mums get to use the roads at all. Let them take their DC to their posho school by hellicopter I say.

helloclitty · 21/02/2012 15:33

So do the siblings of the PFB's get a free lollipop lady then? Is it just private pfb's you have issue with?

GavisconJunkie · 21/02/2012 15:42

YABU for all the reasons mentioned above.

The only people legally allowed to direct traffic by hand are lollypop people & police, unless it's an authorised traffic measure at roadworks. (DH is a Transport Planner yawn).

So, would you prefer the council installed a pedestrian crossing at huge cost & disruption? Or would you prefer the Indie kids played chicken?

Want some ketchup for that chip on your shoulder?
