to think Tesco should fucking well PAY THEIR STAFF?

QueenOfFlippingEverything · 16/02/2012 16:32

I know, I know, there have been threads about it already.

But this is so rage-inducing, I want THE WHOLE OF EVERYONE to know about it.

Jobcentre advert placed by Tesco for night shift staff. Who will be paid [drumroll] JSA (£67 a week) plus travel expenses.

Why the fucking fuck should Tesco get their staff for free? Why? Their profits last year were something like £3.5 billion last year!

I know who I think is taking the piss here, and its not the unemployed people who will be forced to work night shifts at Tesco for their £67 a week Angry

Hello s---, my name is Joseph Mason, how may I help you?

Are you aware that your company is featuring on a list of companies who are involved in workfare?

Is your company involved in workfare?

I am still waiting for a response Joseph. Is your company making use of unpaid labour?

And I have also posted on BHS fb page.

It's almost as thought these companies having been found out are either hoping we give up or maybe they are ashamed, they should be.

Worzels, I've had a thyroid problem these past few months and I get people thinking I'm playing on it. Namely the social worker who thinks I should look after my elderly mother, as well as working and looking after dts. It is completely soul destroying and I wish this excessive fatigue on anyone who doubts it.

Doesn't surprise me. I'm totally disgusted by this. A wake up call. Sneaked under the alarm people had that folk on benefits were raking in more than £26k per year. Or maybe they thought that this scheme would then be seen in a good light after that?

So Sainsbury's is ok to shop at. What about Morrison's? I wish I'd known WH Smith were involved before I bought my magazines there today!

molepom · 17/02/2012 21:02

Sainsburys and morrisons both OK.

Sainsburys pulled out, as far as I am aware Morrions never took part in the scheme. I cant get to Morrisons easily so will be online shopping at Sainsburys from now on.

KateSpade · 17/02/2012 21:03

The ASDA FB page has the strap-line, "share ideas and help shape what we do"

Well thank you for the invitation. I'm sure we all have a few ideas to share Grin

KateSpade · 17/02/2012 21:09

Well Said, I HATE Loose Women. I used to try and like it, for some reason when DD was just born and slept all day but no. I absolutely hate it, and the women on it.

I used to have an Ex bf that was obsessed with it.. Hmm

another one bites the dust...

"Statement on Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Work Programme scheme (WorkFare)

February 17, 2012

Marie Curie Cancer Care has reviewed its position with regard to the Department for Work and Pensions' Work Programme scheme, designed to encourage people who are receiving benefits to get back to work.

We participated in this scheme because we believed it could offer volunteers an opportunity to gain valuable experience. However, there is a difference between volunteering and being forced to work and if there is any chance that people with terminal illnesses could be made to take part in this scheme we would take this very seriously.

It is possible that some of our shops have provided placements for volunteers under this scheme. If any volunteers currently on the scheme are with us we would be delighted to keep them on in a voluntary capacity, although we would suggest the volunteers check with Department for Work and Pensions about how volunteering affects their benefits position.

Marie Curie will not participate in the scheme in the future.

Marie Curie Cancer Care relies on the vital support of our volunteers without which we would not be able to continue to ensure that more people have access to high quality end of life care in their own homes or in one of our hospices."

Who-hooo..well done Marie Curie!

molepom · 17/02/2012 21:11

Arcadia are not mentioned but lot of their stores are.

peekabooby · 17/02/2012 21:15

Someone has posted that the amount received for each workfare person is £1200 Angry

TapselteerieO · 17/02/2012 21:16

Glad some of the charities are seeing sense, Shelter seemingly withdrew in 2011?

TapselteerieO · 17/02/2012 21:19

I am glad QueenofFlippingEverything started this thread, I think keeping it active, creating new threads, even if you think you are banging your head against a brick wall - it is worth it.

molepom · 17/02/2012 21:23

No, Shelter pulled out this morning link

minimathsmouse · 17/02/2012 21:26

Ooh I think I have finally been banned, ho hum, according to FB I now have to verify my account, thought I had. FB can't possibly condone workfare can they?

DorisIsWaiting · 17/02/2012 21:49

Wow have found parts of FB I had completely ignored until today. Still 'every little helps'

TalkinPeace2 · 17/02/2012 21:53

fun though isn't it!!

molepom · 17/02/2012 21:58

BBC News putting pressure on Tescos' FB page now, asking what their policy is on deleting posts with no explanation.

Anyone care to comment ?- I cant as they blocked me

carernotasaint · 17/02/2012 22:05

OMG can you imagine the sheer fucking irony of having a workfare placement at Shelter and then not being able to attend cos of illness and then Shelter reporting you to Job Centre and causing you to get sanctioned which could make you homeless. I know theyve pulled out now but it still boggles the mind that they fucking agreed to participate in the first place. Was their chief executive asleep or hungover while agreeing to it FFS.

minimathsmouse · 17/02/2012 22:08

BBC comment isn't there. What was said?

molepom · 17/02/2012 22:09

It is, click on the the everyone link on their main page and you will have to keep clicking on Older posts until you see it.

minimathsmouse · 17/02/2012 22:19

Yep found it, it's been ignored. Someone has set up a boycot Tesco FB group.

woollyideas · 17/02/2012 22:25

I haven't been banned yet. (Disappointed...)
