If they got the dc something and you somehting, they should have got him something, even if only a kitkat.

JellyMould · 25/01/2012 14:40

I'd be a bit sad if I were him tbh.

HipHopOpotomus · 25/01/2012 14:43

YABU - tit's are great BiscuitBiscuit

ENormaSnob · 25/01/2012 14:44

So why didn't they just put his name on the biscuits as well as yours?

I would be pissed off too tbh.

Did you and dh get your parents a gift?

Hullygully · 25/01/2012 14:45

It's all right for you, you got a present.

They could even have put both your names on the biscuits.

What sort of biscuits were they? It sounds a very mingely kind of Christmas.

ENormaSnob · 25/01/2012 14:59

Is mingely the same as pousey?

Hullygully · 25/01/2012 15:01

mingely is like meany

what's pousey??

Greenshirt · 25/01/2012 15:09

Tin of xmas biscuits. Not mingy at all! I just thought that xmas was more for the kids than grown adults.

NinkyNonker · 25/01/2012 15:12

Yes, but if buying for one half of a couple it is polite to buy for both.

Hullygully · 25/01/2012 15:26

Why did you get a present then?

Do you mean you are their child so you got one?

mynewpassion · 25/01/2012 15:31

He and your parents must get on well if he's hurt that they didn't get him a gift, even a month afterwards. You don't seem even to understand where he's coming from. Did your parents apologize for forgetting him?

PigletJohn · 25/01/2012 15:34

What's the differerence between sulking and being hurt?

Greenshirt · 25/01/2012 15:35

I presumed that they brought the biscuits as a politeness thing, they were coming to ours for xmas day and wanted to add to the munchy pile! They weren't wrapped up in gold paper with a big fucking bow and a label saying 'To our dearest, darling daughter get rid of the waster that you are married to.'[mmm].They weren't wrapped up at all.I just can't see the problem here. His parents didn't buy me anything and I wasn't expecting them to.I am 40 years old with three kids, not 4 yrs old and stamping my feet.Christ.

Hullygully · 25/01/2012 15:36

What does he say when you ask him why he is upset?

Hullygully · 25/01/2012 15:37

And don't get all cross! I am trying to get to the bottom of it.

Ghoulwithadragontattoo · 25/01/2012 15:37

I really don't understand why the biscuits weren't addressed to both of you. Fair enough they did most of their spending on kids but either they should have said we're not getting anything for the adults, or they should have got you each a small gift or got a joint gift. I can understand why he's pissed off. I don't imagine he's dwelling on it every waking more that if you want him to put himself out in some way for your parents he feels disinclined. I'd feel the same.

Ghoulwithadragontattoo · 25/01/2012 15:38

waking moment

Greenshirt · 25/01/2012 15:43

Sorry Hully, didn't mean to sound cross! It's just that I really didn't expect people to say that it's reasonable for him to feel put out.I just hate being wrong I suppose. It's his 40th this year,God forbid they forget that!!!

OP posts:
Hullygully · 25/01/2012 15:45

But what does he say about why he is hurt/cross?

Hullygully · 25/01/2012 15:45
CleopatrasAsp · 25/01/2012 15:45

I don't think much of the presents he got to be honest and it's rude of your parents to buy you a gift and not your DH.

Hullygully · 25/01/2012 15:45

Have you asked him, or just laughed at him and called him a tit?

Hmmm?

mynewpassion · 25/01/2012 15:46

Maybe you should remind them a week before the date so that they don't forget.

Hullygully · 25/01/2012 15:50

yy all of us in my family all remind each other all the time.

Greenshirt · 25/01/2012 15:51

Hully-he does feel that it was a snub, but honestly I think he is being a bit paranoid at the moment. He is having a shit time at work as he is working with some right dickheads.Maybe it was all the stress of the holidays and feeling low anyway that made him upset.Sorry, sounded like a bit of a drip feed there,it's not.
