mummyanonymous - have you had your elective section yet?

I have had two elective sections - first one bliss, wonderful, amazing; second one - scary, frightening, dangerous.

Please do not believe that all elective CS's are stress free.

PoppadumPreach · 23/01/2012 20:56

I had a ball with both my ECS and ELCS - just so exciting!

appreciate others have a less than wonderful time but if i was to have a third, which i won't, i would absolutely, definitely have an ELCS

ps isn't a catheter fab too - 24 hours where you just don't have to get out of bed to do a wee!

Tiredmumno1 · 23/01/2012 20:58

Well I am starting to find this thread a bit odd. Has anyone got a normal answer from op

mummyanonymous · 23/01/2012 21:06

One NB, one CS thank you Tired. Normal is as normal does.

Ps lilRed, it wasn't elective, it was emergency.

Grin thank goodness thought you'd lost your voice Grin

I have had 1 NB and 2cs, none are exactly nice obviously, however the pain after the cs is not easy to deal with

Tiredmumno1 · 23/01/2012 21:10

How old is your lil one op?

seventieschick · 23/01/2012 21:13

Had one of each and I'm with you. A hideous natural birth followed by a lovely elcs 3 years later. Recovered so much quicker from the section.

LilRedWG · 23/01/2012 21:18

You know what - YANBU to love it at all. If you had said that it was better for everyone you would have been unreasonable, but you didn't.

Op - yes, 4 paracetamol. The main thing of course was the TENS machine which was fantastic.

Ample - 'Depends on your pain threshold' um, just not true.

SenseofEntitlement · 23/01/2012 21:38

I've had one crash section (awful) and one planned (lovely) and I think my experience of labour with DD1 was so utterly awful and terrifying (I still get flashbacks and she is nearly five) was due to the complications that led to the crash section, so...meh.

hazeyjane · 23/01/2012 21:40

Oh and as far as the 'washing up' sensation, I never got that, unless you end up with a pile of broken dishes when you wash up. Felt more like someone dragging an enormous pile of washing out of a tumble drier, whilst some other bastard punched me repeatedly in the chest, from my inside.

G1nger · 23/01/2012 21:44

I think it depends on a mixture of luck (non-distressed baby; healthy mother/baby; baby in good position etc) and - for me - much planning into non-medical pain relief to give myself the best possible chance of having a positive experience if I could. I don't have a high pain threshold. I'm a wimp normally.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 23/01/2012 21:45

yyy

'washing up' = 'bad period pain'

both lies. unless you suffer from no period pain whatsoever or have never successfully washed a dish.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 23/01/2012 21:45

in terms of Great Birthing Lies Women Tell Each Other, i mean.

Red2011 · 23/01/2012 21:50

I had to have a c-sec as my body decided not to let baby out/she didn't want to come out...
The first few days were a bit of a haze (50 hours without sleep does that), but I was bloody uncomfortable for quite a while - the information on 'don't overdo it' was a bit lacking, and I ended up overdoing it. I had to go and get a special cushion to sit on for weeks.
However, now I know what it's like, IF we were to have another DC then I would go for an ELCS. And make sure I had plenty of help around the home for a month!

troisgarcons · 23/01/2012 21:55

C-Section X3 = a doddle.

One natural birth that went tits up - NEVER AGAIN.

Managed birth - thumbs up Thanks
Mother Nature - yeah well , cheers Hmm

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 23/01/2012 22:04

you probably needed the cushion because of your labouring, red, rather than the c-section. having in my case a (slight emergency but not panicky) cs, i can't think that my backside was involved in the proceedings. or even my fanjolele.
