Surely it is the same government in power which created the unemployment issues in the first place? Margaret Thatcher knew when all the factories and the mines closed in the 70's and 80s that it would create a section of society who would be dependent on the government to survive because they would have no other skills to contribute. She has admitted this, no?

Is it only liberals and left wingers who are allowed to express their opinions on MN then? It has seemed like that lately.

Not wild about the tories myself, but then I think all politicians are a bunch of power-hungry, self-serving slippery tosspots. I don't find I have much in common at all with people who vote conservative (and that includes my Dparents ), but I respect their right to air their opinions without being subjected to abusive language and die-horribly-wishes.

It just irks me when people get shouted down for expressing views that don't agree with the more vociferous MNetters' 'party line'. It's all very playground and a bit bullying.
