Ularooo! Neighbours memories

Does anyone remember when Lucy sneaked a bit of Ayers Rock home and then a curse befell Ramsay Street? Every time something new happened, she'd wail 'Ularoooo!'

Or wondering what lamingtons were and saying "you dag" to your friends?

My big crush was Paul, even though he only had a couple of facial expressions.

ooo now there's interesting - I've just looked Shane Ramsay up, played by Peter O'Brien and discovered that he was in Casualty but not until years later - I'm 99% sure the rollerblading doc he played was in Cardiac Arrest, a show I really liked that had Helen Baxendale in it as well, which was only a few years after he left Neighbours.

silverfrog · 19/01/2012 10:40

argh! damn you all! I have been sucked into watching old Neighbours episodes on YouTube Blush and Grin

will never get the housework done now... so many years to catch up with!

mothmagnet · 19/01/2012 10:44

Ooh I think I remember that, Thumbwitch, would never have recalled the title.
I think we've done well remembering anything seeing as it was 25 years ago and we didn't have a wiki to begin with Smile

Can't believe Paul had a toxic dump, didn't he used to be likened to JR at the beginning?

Paul was a bad boy

When Sky and Dylan try to save some animals that had been poisoned in the contaminated Lassiter's Lake, Dylan is poisoned himself. He later discovers that he is now more susceptible to cancer and other ailments. After some help from Paul, Sky and Dylan, and the other residents, manage to bring down Affirmacon, a corporation Paul was originally working with. Affirmacon were planning to buy out Ramsay Street, so they could build a shopping centre on the land. Paul is kidnapped and pushed off a cliff. Sky and Dylan find him and Paul's leg is infected and needs to be amputated. Dylan forges Paul's signature to save his life. Paul is livid, but realises that Dylan had acted within his best interests. Sky and Dylan begin a relationship.

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 19/01/2012 11:28

Didn't Paul murder Connor and bury him under the rose bush? Or am I making that up???

Sevenfold · 19/01/2012 11:29

why Joe Scully left

had his contract terminated by Grundy Television and he was dismissed from the show after he developed an amphetamine problem,

StickAForkInMeImDone · 19/01/2012 11:31

seven you seem to be the font of all knowledge with Neighbours. Why did Max leave and why was he given such a crap exit?

Sevenfold · 19/01/2012 11:32

no it was thought his mad son did, but connor then sent some presents to Toadie proving he was alive...

mothmagnet · 19/01/2012 11:44

No WAY Shock Paul had his leg taken off? Did you see him with it folded up behind him?

What a storyline though, more amazing with every sentence.

In the old days, you could tell when a story would reach it's conclusion because it was nearing Friday and they all seemed to end then and a new one would start on Monday Grin

sorry I got involved in rl, the Max one was just odd.
he just went mad and cracked up, killed Pauls not mad son by mistake and left to work on an oil rig....

heyannie · 19/01/2012 11:51

Oh my gosh, I totally forgot about Drew, what a hunk. I fancied geeky Brett when I was about 9. Darren was also hot.

I'm still hoping Dionne will re-appear after her tragic accident 15 minutes after her wedding day. I refuse to believe she drowned if they didn't find a body.

Debbie Martin was bulimic, not anorexic. Her sister Hannah was a totally annoying idiot, but later appeared in Corrie, didn't she have a fling with Les Battersby? She is really pretty now.

Sevenfold · 19/01/2012 11:54

Drew died all of a sudden
I remember being shocked as there was no real build up to it. just all in one episode.

StickAForkInMeImDone · 19/01/2012 11:56

seven didn't Drew die after being thrown off his horse?
Wasn't there an English character in Neighbours many years ago? He had a Dick Van Dyke accent. Or have I got the wrong soap?

silverfrog · 19/01/2012 11:57

Eddie Buckingham was British - I think Madge and Harold met him while on holiday, so obviously he 'looked them up' when he came over to Oz...

Thumbwitch · 19/01/2012 11:58

I cried when Drew died Blush I liked him. And felt so sorry for Libbie - I couldn't believe they killed him off. :(

StickAForkInMeImDone · 19/01/2012 12:03

Silver that's him

ChickensGoMeh · 19/01/2012 12:11

Where is Libby? She's just disappeared. Again.

Sevenfold · 19/01/2012 12:15

I want her job, she gets so much leave

Sevenfold · 19/01/2012 12:16

real reason Libbie has vanished

BupcakesandCuntWorms · 19/01/2012 12:16

OMG I forgot about Darren Stark. I used to fancy him like fuckery. He had a proper big adam's apple which I found weirdly alluring.

Merrylegs · 19/01/2012 12:17

And rather hilariously, Mrs Mangle moved to my home town of St Albans. I always hoped I might bump into her on market day.

ChickensGoMeh · 19/01/2012 12:26

Nooooo! Darren had a mullet and no chin!

BupcakesandCuntWorms · 19/01/2012 12:31

No chin - better balance when you sit on their face.
