Ularooo! Neighbours memories

mothmagnet · 18/01/2012 13:24

Does anyone remember when Lucy sneaked a bit of Ayers Rock home and then a curse befell Ramsay Street? Every time something new happened, she'd wail 'Ularoooo!'

Or wondering what lamingtons were and saying "you dag" to your friends?

My big crush was Paul, even though he only had a couple of facial expressions.

And what about Bouncer??

Thumbwitch · 20/01/2012 01:29

here you go saggy
In short - Bouncer was always Bouncer but he was bought as a replacement for Basil, who drowned. There was some hideous dream sequence where he dreamt of getting married to the next door dog Hmm; and when the real Bouncer (same name) died of cancer aged 7, he got loads of tributes from fans all round the world.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 20/01/2012 01:44

I KNEW a dog got drownded! YAY! Grin

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 20/01/2012 01:44

OOPS! Blush

"In 2003, Harold suffers a stroke and his personality changes. He leaves the Salvation Army, becomes a "peeping tom", starts drinking alcohol and he pinches Izzy Hoyland's bottom"

There was also a bit where Harold was caught perving through the window at a lingerie party that Sky (his grandaughter) was holding!

Grin to mince cookbook, can there be 101 ways? Also can't believe you remembered lemon chicken, it was their special occasion dish.

Sam Kratz is definitely Julian Assange, when I googled him I did wonder if his grey hair was real. Still nice though.

thank you for solving why Luke turned up - randoms are never truly random are they? Grin (was it Jen that Phil went out with?)

the Todd/Melissa/Josh/Cody foursome and subsequent swap of partners always amused me. whatever happened to Katie (Todd's sister)?

didn'y Clive the doctor have a sideline as a gorilla-gram? (quite why he would is beyond me, but I seem to recall it)

I have watched the first few episodes on youtube (I never saw the first ones, started watching in about 1987 I reckon) and apparently after Helen's daughter died, Julie ran away and got stuck in a storm drain, and was blind for a bit - now this is exactly what Lucy did a few years later (isn't that when the first change of actress happened?) - does anyone know why/how this extraordinary coincidence of fate occurred?

BupcakesandCuntWorms · 20/01/2012 09:38

"Julie ran away and got stuck in a storm drain, and was blind for a bit"

Only in Neighbours...

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 20/01/2012 09:58

Lynn scully had 3 daughters called Flick, Steph and Michelle. She also had a son who suddenly arrived called Jack who was a professional footballer in the UK but gave it up to go to Erinsborough High instead? Michelle went out with Conor.

I used to fancy Tad (Toadies cousin) who has now scaled the dizzy heights of being in 2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps!

I remember Billy and Anne going on a camping trip and losing their virginity!

Also remember a massive storyline because Dannii got her ear pierced - what a rebel!

silverfrog · 20/01/2012 10:05

ah, but Bupcakes - the same extraordinary fate then befell her younger sister some years later... what a coincidence Hmm. I believe Bouncer was instrumental in finding Lucy when she was stuck in the storm drain (and possibly Mike was the one to discover that she was faking her blindness)

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 20/01/2012 10:05

Grin I have a 101 things to do with mince book! It's called "Mince Matters"!
Of course in Erinsborough, the entire book would be devoted to ways to make a casserole with mince! Confused
I remember the gorilla gram! Wasn't that how he made his first appearance?

gettingalifenow · 20/01/2012 10:16

Ah yes, Conor. Murdered by one of the Robinson twins -Cameron or Robert. Last seen being carted away on the back of a truck under a tarpaulin. Then his wallet turned up in China months later? It could happen!

silverfrog · 20/01/2012 10:22

Saggy - I seem to rememebr he was in a shopping trolley dressed as a gorilla Confused

BerryLellow · 20/01/2012 13:41

Thumbwitch - thank you, that's been bothering me for years :o

And yes it was Jen that went out with Phil (another mystery solved).

Something that bothered me about Madge, aside from her sounding like she needed to clear her throat, was the way she pronounced appreciate. Appre-see-ate

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 20/01/2012 13:46

Madge was on Justins house recently!!!!

BerryLellow · 20/01/2012 13:48

She's in Emmerdale or something over here isn't she? Like Marilyn from Home and Away.

Oh another Neighbours query - there was an older woman character a few years ago, no idea who she was, I think she may have been allegedly British. I had myself convinced she was Daphne's mum from Frasier, but I may be way off there.

Thumbwitch · 20/01/2012 14:37

Berry, do you mean Valda? She was played by Joan Sydney and was Lynn Scully's aunt. She does look a bit like Millicent Martin, who played Daphne's mum in Frasier, but they're not the same person of course. :)

BerryLellow · 20/01/2012 15:38

:o I have no idea if that's who I mean or not! I was fairly certain I was making it up.

Sevenfold · 20/01/2012 17:26

Valda turned out to be Lyns mum

HarrietJones · 20/01/2012 19:02

Flick was holly valance wasn't she?

Sevenfold · 20/01/2012 22:31

yep, she was terrible

Thumbwitch · 20/01/2012 22:36

That's right, Seven, she did. Wiki neglected to mention that bit immediately when I checked to see if she was Lyn's aunt or mum - it was lurking in the depths of my brain but Wiki overrode it!
