Ularooo! Neighbours memories

mothmagnet · 18/01/2012 13:24

Does anyone remember when Lucy sneaked a bit of Ayers Rock home and then a curse befell Ramsay Street? Every time something new happened, she'd wail 'Ularoooo!'

Or wondering what lamingtons were and saying "you dag" to your friends?

My big crush was Paul, even though he only had a couple of facial expressions.

Darren Stark was the fittest man ever to be on neighbours, with the possible exception of the policeman Mark that just got killed recently. Beautiful Darren

I also had the neighbours sticker book. And I still watch it now. So much cheerier than the dreary british soaps. I even still have the neighbours board game in the loft Blush

StickAForkInMeImDone · 19/01/2012 00:43

I had the "Charlene & Scott, Daphne & Des, and Madge & Harold" wedding trilogy on video Blush and I paid for it, double Blush

Mya2403 · 19/01/2012 02:51

I love neighbours I used to have a bit of a thing for Connor the sexy irish one.

WillSingForCake · 19/01/2012 06:40

The Willis family all left the show, apart from Cody who stayed living with one of the neighbours and then when she died it was only her mum's character who came back for the funeral!

She had two brothers (Adam who was a student doctor and had a fake skeleton he used to talk to, and surfer dude Brad) and her sister was Gaby. Think Gaby had her own clothing line at one point?

gettingalifenow · 19/01/2012 06:46

I was totally in love with Brad. Scott Michaelson in real life, if I remember.

And totally agree on Darren, bupcakes.

But no one has mentioned Drew ! I wept buckets when they killed him off.

Anyone else noticed how dangerous it is to live in Ramsey Street? The mortality rate must be the worst on earth....

mothmagnet · 19/01/2012 07:00

Stickafork, I'd forgotten Eileen, she was one of the 'characters' designed to make the others look cool. I remember when Clive was trying to reason with her and actually said 'come on Eileen' Smile hilarious

Those where are they now sites are good, I hadn't scrolled enough to see all the early characters, sad about Mrs. Mangel.

And Dorothy Burke! I'm sure she was also in one of the others, Prisoner maybe?

Groovee · 19/01/2012 07:49

OOh Sharon set fire to the coffee shop didn't she!

scrivette · 19/01/2012 08:06

Yea Gabby had a boutique shop called 'Gabrielle'. She gave birth to a son at the same time that Lou Carpenter had a little girl and they were both called Shannon. There were lots of arguments between them as they both 'wanted' the name and Lou's daughter was known by her middle name of Louise, shortened to 'Lolly'. I don't know who the Mum was though, I expect she died!

chocoroo · 19/01/2012 08:17

I have come to this thread late but am loving it!

When we went travelling in Australia we went to Neighbour's Night. It was attended by Drew, Harold and Toadie. Toadie felt my ass, Harold was pretty rude and Drew was surrounded by security in case the mad English girls tries to steal him or summat. It was rumoured to be Drew's first night back on the job as he's been barred by the Neighbour's producers for shagging a girl in the toilets. Stephanie Scully was also apparently banned because of drugs.

I bloody love Neighbours.

AWimbaWay · 19/01/2012 08:18

StickAForkInMeImDone, I wondered that about Max, weirdest storyline ever, normally if an actor wants out or is fired they just get a new one to play the same character. Although they did writer out Joe Scully in a bizarre fashion too rather than replace him.

chocoroo · 19/01/2012 08:27

Didn't Joe Scully do something BAD in real life? I don't remember what though.

I still have The Neighbours Game in the loft somewhere. Genius

scrivette · 19/01/2012 08:28

Blond haired Shane was very good looking, he went out with Angel and then died before she had her baby, a girl, who she called Shane.

cumbria81 · 19/01/2012 08:45

I saw mark little do stand up a few years ago , was really good.

mothmagnet · 19/01/2012 09:43

Shane became much more good looking after Neighbours.

Thumbwitch · 19/01/2012 09:45

I agree with that, Moth - he was pretty hot as the rollerblading doc in whatever show it was (was it Casualty?)

DoingHouseworkHonest · 19/01/2012 09:47

Oh, I'm loving this thread! I haven't watched Neighbours for absolute YEARS so don't know most of the newer characters, but I used to watch it religiously back in the Scott and Charlene days!
This is what I remember most:
-Scott and Charlene's wedding day and that song they walked down the aisle to, Suddenly by Angry Anderson. aww

  • Kerry Mangel who got mistaken for a duck and shot at when on a protest Grin
-HUGELY irritating Julie Martin who you just wanted to SLAP. Repeatedly. Didn't she fall to her death at a murder mystery weekend? Or she was pushed. Something like that.
DoingHouseworkHonest · 19/01/2012 09:49

This thread has also reminded me of the Neighbours board game that I used to have and had completely forgotten about until now!
I'm going to have to ask my mum if she's still got it next time I see her. Bet she's chucked it. Angry

mothmagnet · 19/01/2012 09:49

I can't remember what I've seen him in, only that losing the fluffy blonde hair and going serious suddenly made him more desirable, like Plain Jane in reverse.
Even Henry looked better after.

StickAForkInMeImDone · 19/01/2012 09:52

Cody Willis was played by 2 characters wasn't she? The first actress was really annoying.
I loved the episode with Paul and Gail when they realised that they really did love each other. . They had a marriage of convenience at first. Can't remember why they split up though.

LadyBeagleEyes · 19/01/2012 10:01

Oh yes, Drew.
He was gorgeous.

PMSL THAT WAS IN H&A

Sevenfold · 19/01/2012 10:34

I did like dylan, I always thought it was a shame he left.
didn't he go a bit mad with hatred for Paul as paul had caused stingrays babys cancer(toxic dump?) and stingray dies after giving bone marrow or something
