Ularooo! Neighbours memories

mothmagnet · 18/01/2012 13:24

Does anyone remember when Lucy sneaked a bit of Ayers Rock home and then a curse befell Ramsay Street? Every time something new happened, she'd wail 'Ularoooo!'

Or wondering what lamingtons were and saying "you dag" to your friends?

My big crush was Paul, even though he only had a couple of facial expressions.

{blush] howlong I'm obviously making up characters here Grin

StickAForkInMeImDone · 18/01/2012 21:54

I loved Terence Donovan's character.

HarrietJones · 18/01/2012 21:54

Shortland street the only programme with wobblier sets than Neighbours!

Sevenfold · 18/01/2012 21:55

I liked Toby Mangle.
doug willis was horrid.
I remember Shane

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 18/01/2012 21:58

I'd forgotten The Young Doctor!

StickAForkInMeImDone · 18/01/2012 21:59

sevenfold Toby Mangle! God he was a little shit wasn't he?
Saggy I just googled The Young Doctors and listened to the theme tune. T'was all very dramatic for back then!

alemci · 18/01/2012 22:04

Mrs Mangle fancied Harrold. do you remember he lodged with her. And also we never saw Len, her husband but she always talked about him.

StickAForkInMeImDone · 18/01/2012 22:09

Why was Max (married to Steph I think) written out? That story line was awful and didn't make any sense even by Neighbours standards

MrsLinks · 18/01/2012 22:12

Lou and Andy from little Britain have also been in neighbours. Found it on YouTube somehow (please note I don't look up neighbours clips!)

NotLivingTheDream · 18/01/2012 22:15

At our school, there was a song..... Cant for the life of me remember the start but the last few lines were; daphne had a baby, called it little jamie, its better than home and away. Blush

Am embarassed to admit to singing it for the last 10 mins trying to recall the start. If someone can enlighten me, I would be able to sing the whole song sleep easy.

Sevenfold · 18/01/2012 22:18

they are terrible at writing people out.....
summer over night Piano genius, of to boarding school.
ben overnight genius off to boarding school.
Zeke/silly sister/malcolm..... goes to england next day
and so on

NotLivingTheDream · 18/01/2012 22:18

Just read that back...

openyerlugholes · 18/01/2012 22:22

The most wobbly sets were to be found on Sunset Beach.

Said this on other thread but had a major girl crush on Jane from neighbours when I was a teen. Changed my name to Jane for two months, wore humungous glasses and carried a briefcase to work (was an office junior) to be just like her Blush

Sevenfold · 18/01/2012 22:47

what ever happened to Jane(the actress)

LugholesTheInvisible · 18/01/2012 22:52

Dunno. Must go do a google search on my previous love.

Haven't watched neighbours for years am ashamed to say.

StickAForkInMeImDone · 18/01/2012 23:03

plain jane now

LugholesTheInvisible · 18/01/2012 23:06

Oh. My. Goodness.

I think she may now develop a crush on me.

StickAForkInMeImDone · 18/01/2012 23:10

fucking I'm sad
Who remembers Eileen Clarke?

LadyBeagleEyes · 18/01/2012 23:15

Actually the wobbliest sets ever were in Crossroads.
I remember Meg Richardson.

DaPrincessBride · 18/01/2012 23:26

My first memory is of Neighbours...the shame! Had a Scott and Charlene jumper...Double shame! Went on the guided tour in Melbourne a few years ago and helped the guide when he faltered with names...beyond shame.

Toddlerama - Boyd is a doctor! Summer mentions him every so often.

I can't remember who asked about Phil's (second) wife (he was allergic to her perfume, not her, after a strange storyline) - she was Ruth.

Melanie married Joe Mangel!

It was the Willis family in the Kennedy's house before them - Doug Willis was actually Jason Donovan's dad :) - they left after Cody was killed.

God I need help.

crawls back under rock in shame

DaPrincessBride · 18/01/2012 23:30

Does anyone remember a very odd storyline a few years back when a local 'hooligan' was found out to be Jamie Clark, around the same time as the Kennedys found Daphne's will showing he was owed A LOT of money? It never came to anything and he just vanished minus money...

I loved the Alessi family, gutted when they went.

BupcakesandCuntWorms · 18/01/2012 23:37

This:

"Phil was a behemoth of mid 90s Neighbours. He was played by Ian Rawlings, who just five years earlier had glowered with raw sexual energy as Sons and Daughters? bad boy Wayne Hamilton. Well, those five years must have been pretty tough and involved a lot of comfort eating, because by the time Phil arrived in Neighbours with his annoying wife Julie and even more annoying daughters Hannah and Debbie, he looked fat, balding and very cuddly. As already mentioned, Phil?s career took many strange twists and turns, from janitor to CEO to newsagent to romance novelist (Philippa Martinez), garage owner and many more. Phil was genial and amiable and a bit of a comedy character, as evidenced by storylines based around him trying to lose weight in a bacofoil tracksuit.

However, to make his character edgier he was once caught up in a road rage incident that made no sense. Good old Neighbours, and its total lack of sensible character development."

Has had me in stitches. Then TeamEdward's synopsis of Brett, the young fogey.

Who remembers Brad Willis, the blonde surfer bum, brother of Cody? I used to lurrrrrve him.

LugholesTheInvisible · 18/01/2012 23:59

Ooooh brad and cody.

Made me want to emigrate.

Still do.

That Mangle lad was a bad sort though. Could never get over the size of Helen's mouth. It was never ending!

Skillbo · 19/01/2012 00:20

Stickafork - I remember Eileen.. she went on a cruise and never came back!

So many happy memories reading this thread...

BupcakesandCuntWorms · 19/01/2012 00:23

Helen was born to play that flying Dog out of Never Ending Story.
