I know it is not to everyones taste and, to be honest, there is quite a lot of stuff in the catalogue that is fairly horrible - but there is also some lovely items in the Spring/Summer catalogue but the price is just so Shock

Maybe one day...Grin

What about eBay? Sure they have loads of boden selling on there.

AFuckingKnackeredWoman · 14/01/2012 12:51

Nah a shop opened here for Christmas and alot of the stuff didn't look like it deserved the price tag.

I don't get why its so popular on here at all

WorraLiberty · 14/01/2012 12:52

I genuinely haven't seen anything made by that company that's made me think 'Ooh I'd love that'.

Some thinks are 'ok' but I'm lucky enough to live 20 mins away from a huge shopping and market area where there is so much choice, I don't have to spend a fortune on clothes that are just 'ok'.

If that makes sense Grin

ceebeegeebies · 14/01/2012 12:54

Worra to be fair, there isn't that much in the catalogue that I would buy, but the few things that I would are just lovely and then I look at the price and think I am not going to spend £60 on a skirt fgs Wink

Back to Peacocks and H&M for me Grin

YANBU to wish you had more money - YAB a bit U to think that spending it at Boden would be the best use for it :o

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/01/2012 13:08

I shopped there years ago, went right off them when I heard that they admit their clothes are for women who afraid of being sexy.

Loads of of on ebay.

NearlyMrsCustardsHardHat · 14/01/2012 13:09

YABU it's over priced and poorly made. Better off saving your pennies for Fat Face

Callisto · 14/01/2012 13:17

Boden is shite. So frumpy and ugly. And you can tell it's Boden a mile off (and I have to admit that I get a bit judgy about 'Boden mummies'). Also, the current trout-pouting woman advertising Boden on here is really annoying.

Get on to Ebay, there is lots of Boden on there if you really want to buy some. There are also lots of other brands and it isn't all secondhand tat. I've had some amazing bargains.

OnlyANinja · 14/01/2012 13:20

Boden reminds me of a comment made about Rachel on Glee - she manages to dress like a toddler and like a grandmother at the same time.

SauvignonBlanche · 14/01/2012 13:24

DD has just announced that she doesn't like miniBoden anymore. I think I'll eBay her stuff.

kerstina · 14/01/2012 13:24

Have you clicked on the clearance items ? I can never afford full price boden but I have been able to get heavily reduced items in the sale. Don't be put off if you find something out of stock either as they can come back in as things are returned. Have also got things cheaply on ebay.
I hate their loud frumpy prints but I have been pleased with denim skirts, jeans, dresses, jackets, slippers from them.

catsareevil · 14/01/2012 13:27

If you register your email with them they will send you offers on a pretty regular basis. Im not sure if anyone ever pays full price for Boden.

BlastOff · 14/01/2012 13:29

I think Boden is a lot more expensive this season actually.

I don't agree with all the Boden bashing either, but it's quickly gong out of my price range. I do tend to live in their basics like jeans, long sleeve tops etc. the ones I have are excellent quality and last forever. I also have a great black wrap dress and a few other things which I love.

You either like it or you don't. I haven't ever bought anything full price either - does anyone? - though. I always wait for sales or good discount days.

ceebeegeebies · 14/01/2012 13:33

Funnily enough, the only 2 items I have ever bought from there were not full-price. First one was a dress for a wedding through the Times (I think) and the second one was a raincoat when I got a voucher for £20 off plus 20% discount so it only ended up costing about £15 Grin

Never been sent one of those vouchers again though Sad

You're not missing too much, wouldn't worry. The women's clothes quality isn't what it was, sadly. I couldn't find much at all to buy from there for myself last year.

The children's clothes are quite reasonably priced, though. But dh has tried to steer me away this year for them being so 'high street' and popular now Hmm I've ignored him and bought a few things as usual.

BlastOff · 14/01/2012 13:35

WHat does your Dh want you to dress your dc in MrsBovary?

CointreauVersial · 14/01/2012 13:36

I don't think I have ever bought anything full price from Boden.

The DCs wouldn't be seen dead in their stuff.

NearlyMrsCustardsHardHat · 14/01/2012 13:37

Vertbaudet is always good for slightly off the mainstream too.

ceebeegeebies · 14/01/2012 13:37

I agree MrsB what on earth does your DH want your DC dressed in?? MY DC are dressed in either Next, H&M or supermarket stuff - what would he think of that??

OP posts:
BeattieBow · 14/01/2012 13:38

there are always codes available - there is a 20% one I used yesterday. I don't know if that makes it more affordable.

fwiw I don't like the grown up clothes either (but ordered some maternity jeans in desperation yesterday). Kids clothes nice imo. I never pay full price.

whatstheetiquette · 14/01/2012 13:39

I can't stretch to adult boden prices, but I do buy a few mini boden things for my DCs.

OP - don't worry about it! But maybe splash out for a birthday?

member · 14/01/2012 13:40

I like the look of the tan leather biker jacket; it doesn't scream Boden! At £350 there's no chance!

whatstheetiquette · 14/01/2012 13:40

Beattie - what is the 20% code Grin

spiderlight · 14/01/2012 13:44

I've found loads of virtually brand new mini Boden for DS on ebay for a fraction of the catalogue price. He loves the stripy knitted cotton hoodies and has about four of them in different colours from different years at the moment! Never seen anything I'd wear, though.

MrsBovary · 14/01/2012 13:46

I don't buy many of the high street brands anyway (well sometimes Joules and Brora). I think we see so much Boden out-and-about that he seems to have gone off it rather.
I still intend to buy some things, as it's still fairly good value for money.
