I know it is not to everyones taste and, to be honest, there is quite a lot of stuff in the catalogue that is fairly horrible - but there is also some lovely items in the Spring/Summer catalogue but the price is just so Shock

Maybe one day...Grin

I used A614 - don't know if it's still working today though.

drywhiteplease · 14/01/2012 13:47

Johnny boden puts me off.......so smug, self satisfied prat , I can't believe he is seriously trying to sell his fashion to the French.....those annoying jolly comments in the catalogue are so irritating and have you ever called boden and heard the voice message? Pass the sick bucket!

Have to admit though I have bought a few pieces but anonymous ones...where I live is a uniform, I call it bodenville.(as is st Ives Cornwall)

MrsBovary · 14/01/2012 13:50

We have that here too, drywhite, the Boden uniform. The local park is all Boden jackets and Hunter wellies (and includes my own dc Blush)

ceebeegeebies · 14/01/2012 13:51

Trust me, where I live, Boden is NOT a uniform - in fact, I very much doubt most people in this town have even heard of it Wink

Loads of Boden on eBay as others have said.

I buy it for the dcs, and then sell it on to try and recoup some of the cost.

I don't like the womenswear - it is utterly ubiquitous.

catchafallingstar · 14/01/2012 14:09

aaaarghh!
Just discovered fat face clearance sale and bought dd a Silvanna Parka for £25 - I blame you lot!!!!!!!!!!!

ViviPru · 14/01/2012 15:12

I like this. There are usually discount codes all over for Boden. No need to pay full price.

nickelhasababy · 14/01/2012 15:15

i won some vouchers on here, and i bought a dress and a swimming costume.
the dress was brilliant - a summer dress that fitted loosely but flattered the figure, and beautifully sewn - fully lined and well-finished.
and the swimming costume was great too- tight fabric, so held everything in, and washes well after the swimming pool chemicals.

I say it's worth buying one or two things from there for your wardrobe, when you can afford a treat.
:)

Garliccheesechips · 14/01/2012 15:31

OP, the charity shops are stuffed full of Boden.
None of it screams 'fuck the shit out of me' so I tend to avoid it.
Also, it's the uniform of the cats bum mouth women that live around my way and if I ever become like one of them I'm cracking opening the cyanide.

IKilledIgglePiggle · 14/01/2012 15:34

The baby stuff is cute, I just ordered DD a few dresses, IMO you can't beat an 18mo in a dress with a giant chicken on it Wink

Thankgodforcaffeine · 14/01/2012 15:38

I like their prints

grovel · 14/01/2012 15:40

I sat very near Johnnie Boden in church on Christmas Day. I thought you'd all like to know that.

Dotty342kids · 14/01/2012 15:47

I really like their kids stuff as none of it is that vile "I'm six but dressing like my sixteen year old sister" stuff found almost EVERYWHERE else! So, it's a good way of giving the kids some choice eg. they can pick what they like and I know it'll all be a) nice and b) last them really well.
However, would agree that much as I have loved their womenswear that the quality of some of it has gone down and you can spot a boden pattern a mile away. So I tend to stick to their plainer, more basic stuff (in the sale I hasten to add). And no, I've never paid full price for anything either. Does anyone????

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 14/01/2012 15:52

I quite like Boden. I agree about the quality of some of the clothing though, very poor considering the price tag. I also don't like the fact that some of it is 'made in China'.

I'm considering a brightly patterned bag and also have my eye on plain, navy dress... I'm just wondering if I can keep my boobs under control in it, being a wrap dress. Grin

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 14/01/2012 16:29

Boden isn't my thing at all; it's a bit too classic and I like more funky trendy clothing.

I love it for my 2 year old and my 7 year old. My 13 year old definitely won't wear it though.

FlyingStart · 14/01/2012 16:36

On Facebook, the Boden site sometimes gives 30% discount codes off plus free postage and packaging. That's when I go shopping, although I still manage to spend 100 quid.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 14/01/2012 17:37

Oh do they, FlyingStart, I don't go on FB now but if they put a code on there, will you post it please?

whatstheetiquette · 14/01/2012 20:16

Thanks Beattie, will try!

imoanruby · 14/01/2012 20:47

I love Boden...i know lots of people don't, but i do.

No one that lives where i do wears it, whenever anyone asks me about dd's clothes they have never heard of it.

Like someone else said i find some high street stores have collections from 6-16 and i don't always want my 8yo in clothes suitable for a 16yo.

I buy lots of their stuff for myself, the jeans are fab (re mum thread, they are comfy and no muffin tops!) their basic long sleeved tops are fab and last for years. Their tunics cover up all lumps and bumps and i love their knitwear. I love the shoes and bags too....am sounding like bit of Boden freak Blush

OP if you want to buy stuff from Boden you should never pay full price.

Clearance is always fab - brought jacket and bag this week, should have cost £230 but only cost £80.00

Register on their website to get promotion codes.

Like their facebook page if you have an account, people always share discount codes on there - you can normally get 15% - 30% off.

If you keep the stuff in good condition you can sell it on ebay when you're finished with it and make most of the money back, i have had people pay more on ebay than i paid Boden!

Happy shopping!!

imoanruby · 14/01/2012 20:47

Oh and i used code A648 this week!

tigerlillyd02 · 14/01/2012 20:51

I could possibly stretch to buy some boden items, but every time I've looked there, there's nothing that sticks out enough to spend such money on their clothing. Next is my favourite shop in all honesty - there's nearly always a few items I simply must have for myself and DS. I always miss their sales though which really annoys me.

I agree with the comments regarding Ebay. I've bought quite a few clothing items on there for DS which are fabulous quality and a fraction of the cost!

MogTheForgetfulCat · 14/01/2012 21:31

YABU, I used to like the stuff when I first found out about it a few years ago, but I think it has gone right off and the colour palette is not my thing at all. A few things are still nice, mainly jersey dresses and the odd bit of knitwear, but most of it is pretty vile, and I don't like most of the prints, or its ubiquity where I live. And the Mini Boden stuff for boys is pretty uninspired, whereas the stuff for girls looks lovely, and there is at least twice as much - grrr.

perceptionreality · 14/01/2012 21:35

I used to love Boden for the children, but I've gone right off it. The quality used to be fantastic but it isn't any more :(

Nearly everything I bought the kids for winter has not worn very well - the leggings are particularly poor. Such a shame...

So I think you're yearning for something not that good. Years ago it was fab, no longer.

Armi · 14/01/2012 21:42

I love Boden. I like that it's not 'sexy' - I don't particularly want my clothes to scream 'FUCK ME, NOW!!!' when I'm at work or pushing the pram around. I'm odd like that.

4madboys · 14/01/2012 21:50

i love boden clothes for dd and ds4 has loads of the tartan baggies and long sleeved tops, i got all his stuff off a friend tho!

but i just ordered dd a tutu in the sale and am very tempted by another dress with matching pants, dd has two of their cord pinafores and has had various other bits but i always have a code and never pay full price.

i was very impressed when at the edn of the summer they got in touch to say they were recalling a t-shirt and shorts set i had bought as they thought the waist tie on the shorts could be a strangulation hazard Hmm anyway dd had just about outgrown them anyway! and they sent me a postage paid envelope to return the shorts (said i could keept he t-shirt) then they refunded me the full price (i didnt pay full price when i bought them) and gave me £10 voucher as an apology! plus i had a code to use so was able to buy three items really cheaply! :)
