I know it is not to everyones taste and, to be honest, there is quite a lot of stuff in the catalogue that is fairly horrible - but there is also some lovely items in the Spring/Summer catalogue but the price is just so Shock

Maybe one day...Grin

They are the only place which sell boys trousers with poppers/elasticated waist and not buttons! Ds finds buttons too difficult to undo so at least he has some pairs of cords/trousers. The quality of the children's clothes is better then the womens though. I bought a silk dress in the sale last year. It just looks wrong and I never got around to sending it back. The cut of the waist is stupid so it makes me look really overweight. Sad

LAlady · 14/01/2012 22:12

I used to buy from it but reality check - it's a bit frumpy. Sold it all on eBay! Reluctant to dress my children in it now too. I go to the local park and most of the children are dressed in Boden. It used to be unique and stand out. Not anymore.

FreudianSlipper · 14/01/2012 22:17

find an area where there are lots of frumpy women boden clad women and look in the second hand shops you will find lots of per una stuff too no doubt

LAlady · 14/01/2012 22:18

I do love a Boden bikini I have though. Plus I bought some underwear for my DD in New York (Boden was in the sale at Nordstrom last year as I think they launched it there although don't think it sold terribly well judging by how much was in the sale). Got 7 pairs of knickers for £10 and in a lovely bag. Fantastic quality.

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 14/01/2012 22:19

Where are all these towns full of Boden-wearing children? I hardly ever see any children wearing it in my area.

LAlady · 14/01/2012 22:20

Marlow is a big Boden for children area!

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 14/01/2012 22:21

Ah, wasn't Marlow the gorgeous town on Location Location Location the other night?

LAlady · 14/01/2012 22:24

Yes it was on Location. Marlow is lovely Smile

yabvvvvvu op . boden stuff really isnt all that amazing. If you are totally desperate, then look for it in charity shops in areas that have four and five bedroom houses. you will find plenty, at a reasonable price. its good quality and can easily last several children. however, to aspire to it, as a lifestyle choice........ have a Biscuit

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 14/01/2012 22:32

feelingbullied has a good point; there is usually plenty available in charity shops in wealthier areas. I have had several Boden "hotchpotch" tops for my DD from Charity shops for a couple of quid each and they still look brand new even though she's been wearing them for over a year and were worn by someone else beforehand.

Popbiscuit · 14/01/2012 22:35

I ThInk it's really hit and miss; very inconsistent quality and sizing. I've had some great things and some absolute disasters. Sometimes the pricetag is justified, other tomes definitely not.

Most of Boden is overpriced crap. IMO. Some things I'd love to own aswell. It mostly is very frumpy.

I love Desigual and have bought two items from Ebay, second hand, and in tip top condition, (the only two Desigual pieces of clothing I own).

Very little Boden in my town. It's the next uniform that wins out here big style. Went to a kids party and there were 3 little girls in the same next dress.

Whenever I wear my Boden tunics I always get stopped and asked about them. Don't do their dresses though and find trousers too big on the waist.

TandB · 15/01/2012 08:53

We had a very funny Boden moment a few months ago. I don't shop there as I think it is expensive but DS1's nursery gave him a mini Boden rugby top type thing that had been in lost property for years. We were in a shop and a boy of about 14 came in with his dad - wearing the exact same top as DS1 (age not quite 2). He did a massive double take and then removed said top. He was visibly gutted - poor bugger!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 15/01/2012 09:32

I went on to the 'clearance' bit last night and bought the dress that I'd been hankering after in the colour I wanted. It was £99, I think at full price and I bought it at £31, bargain! I also bought a yellow jacket in the sale too... and the Paris navy dress at full price... but that's it, I'm not buying ANYTHING ELSE.

I don't mind the sneery 'dressed by a 3-year old jibes... I wouldn't wear everything there because it wouldn't suit me (and I couldn't afford it), but a few things every season make me happy. We're all different and I for one and very glad not everybody likes Boden... I wouldn't have got my dress if they did.

QuickLookBusy · 15/01/2012 13:49

I buy from there but I never pay full price, just wait for the 20% off plus free postage and returns, which seem to happen every few weeks.

I also avoid the patterns Grin but really like some of the plain stuff. I've had 2 of their cashmere cardigans for several years and they still look like new, despite DD2 pinching them whenever she fancies Shock

alemci · 15/01/2012 14:01

i am very pleased with what I buy from Boden. I never pay full price for anything and buy in the sales usually. I don't like the loud prints.

I tend to buy the basic t shirts, cardigans, plain skirts. Also their coats and boots are excellent and fit my feet (have slim feet).

My DD like Johnnie b and the quality is so much better than New Look, H and M etc so it is a better buy especially with discounts.

I don't want to look sexy either. I mix it with other stuff. I am not top to toe.
