To think that I now know why the bloody cats ended up in the cat home to begin with!?

We adpoted 2 Siamese brothers aged 6 about 9 months ago...LOVE them both...they're gorgous . BUT one of them keeps pissing on our bed and on DDs bed. He's a pissy panted little shithead and I am THIS close to handing him back!

He has been to the vet incase there was something wrong...no...all fine...he has been given a beautiful litter tray with door all of his own and has the best litter in it....his brother has his own tray too and has no problem going in it. Both trays are changed regularly.

Both of them eat the same food and have plenty of water...they have a daily constitutional in the garden and a lot of love. So why does the little urinator keep on pissing where he shouldn't??? I just bought a new duvet the other day and it's too big for the washing machine!

I have washed the pissy part with very hot water and bio stuff...and it now smells fine and is hanging over the radiator...WHAT CAN I DO???? I am asking here as the litter tray is full of people saying "Get Feliway"

No. I won't buy bloody Feliway....He's a mickey taking little craphead and I have spent enough money on his bladder. NO. AIBU to give him back? I cant and wont give hime back really but just need to vent and hope some advice comes my way.

Hmmm but feliway is really quite helpful. You can get it much cheaper on Amazon than at the vets.

Otherwise, keep the bedroom doors closed.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 09/01/2012 19:57

My neighbours cat used to do this, she took it to see a cat behavioural person (seriously), turns out the cat was anxious and didn't like being left alone. Confused I'd close the doors to keep the cats out of the bedrooms until it's settled into your home.

G1nger · 09/01/2012 19:57

Your duvet might smell fine to you, but to your cat it might smell like his wee. Sorry.

My own experience of this was a cat that was going deaf and wanted to make us get her a litter tray. Not the same thing as yours.

hardboiledpossum · 09/01/2012 19:58

My dads cat was like this until they got Feliway.

mycatsaysach · 09/01/2012 19:59

eeeeeeeek don't let em in the bedroom - mine would do this given half the chance

We try to keep the doors shut but the DC keep forgetting...they pissed on our beds for 3 buggering years and are now facilitatiing the cat in doing the same!

Ladysyb he's not alone ever! His brother is there and we're there all the time too!

" he's not alone ever! His brother is there and we're there all the time too!"

He wants to be alone? Wink

cozietoesie · 09/01/2012 20:02

Yep - as sugarpaste said, it's a protest. You're doing something to annoy him.

Are you sure he actually likes his brother? He might prefer to be an only cat.

BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 20:03

I am on top of the litter tray sugar do I have to change it EVERY time he pees though? I do it twicce a day and more if he poos....what if there is one or two pee's in it? Is that too many?

[considers toilet training the cat or buying premie nappies for him]

Make sure the doors are closed. I'm fairly certain my neighbour held her cat's head above the mess (she didn't push the cats face into it), I'm not sure that this is the right way to go about this though.

Lexie1970 · 09/01/2012 20:03

Can only offer you my sympathies... my parents adopted 2 burmese cats and one of them was dirty. Mum put up with it for years but all bedrooms doors were shut at all times because as soon as you left a door open ginger spice was up there crapping and weeing on the bed.

The cat was thrown out the back door on numerous occasions as mum was so annoyed and she kept threatening to take to vet and be put down. The vet could only say some cats are dirty and there is nothing you can do about it.

She finally had enough and the appointment was booked at the vet (who could understand that she was at the end of her tether :() when a work colleague said they would take the cat. Work colleague fully aware of her dirty habits and the cat was duly despatched.....

I think it is unlikely cat will be clean so you can just make sure that the bedroom doors are kept closed at all times to save your quilt......

JayVazzle · 09/01/2012 20:04

Does the cat get scared? My cat will pee and crap in protest when she is spooked, she has been under the desk, on the sofa and the door mat to name a few.

Feliway didn't work btw I just have to put up with it, I love her lots really Smile

BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 20:05

Ginger Grin cozie he LOVES his brother more than anything! They wash each other every night and lie wrapped up together.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 09/01/2012 20:05

You don't need to change it each time he pees, you'll be removing his scent. Use a scoop to remove the poop once/twice a day though.

clare458 · 09/01/2012 20:07

We rescued a cat a few years ago that did the same thing. He was a lovely cat but would piss everywhere!

We kept giving him chances and got a litter tray, regularly shut him outside etc
He'd go for periods where he was really good and we thought we'd cracked it but then he'd start again.

The last straw was when I was heavily pregnant with twins and after being out all day he came in and piddled on the carpet right in front of us.

I do think this is probably why he was at the rescue place centre in the first place. We ended up buying kittens and litter training them ourselves. They are 5 now and are brilliant.

The only time we've had an incident is when I forgot to unlock the cat flap before I went to bed, he kept hassling me but being half asleep I kept pushing him away. He ended up seeing on my foot in desperation!

Dee03 · 09/01/2012 20:08

I feel your pain!!
One of my little buggers pisses up against my boys bedside cabinet...only during winter months and I'm sure it's one of my 2 females!!!
Ive scrubbed and scrubbed with washing powder and white vinegar but room still stinks!!!! The cats are 3 and 10 so no excuses for urinating over my furniture!!!
I desperately want to decorate their room but not going to pay out for new carpet etc for them to just trash Sad

TheMonster · 09/01/2012 20:10

Take the lid off the tray. Maybe he'd prefer to wee in the open air.

G1nger · 09/01/2012 20:11

Is he neutered?

Dee03 · 09/01/2012 20:12

And part of me does think if their door is shut 24/7 then they'll just go and piss somewhere else in the house!!!!

northerngirl41 · 09/01/2012 20:12

Feliway doesn't always work on cats though - what might work is Royal Canin's Calm food or Zylene both of which have synthetic mother's milk proteins in them. It will require another vet trip though for a prescription... Worth a try!

cozietoesie · 09/01/2012 20:13

Well I've had Siamese for a very long time and IME, they pee badly in protest at 'something'. Wrong litter (they prefer clumping Fuller's earth), covered littered tray (they prefer open), not cleaning after they've used it (yes, I'm a slave) - but most of all, it's down to conditions (not quiet enough) or another cat. (They tend to want to be top cat.)

I'd have a long hard look at that relationship with his brother again.

OrmIrian · 09/01/2012 20:15
