To think that I now know why the bloody cats ended up in the cat home to begin with!?

We adpoted 2 Siamese brothers aged 6 about 9 months ago...LOVE them both...they're gorgous . BUT one of them keeps pissing on our bed and on DDs bed. He's a pissy panted little shithead and I am THIS close to handing him back!

He has been to the vet incase there was something wrong...no...all fine...he has been given a beautiful litter tray with door all of his own and has the best litter in it....his brother has his own tray too and has no problem going in it. Both trays are changed regularly.

Both of them eat the same food and have plenty of water...they have a daily constitutional in the garden and a lot of love. So why does the little urinator keep on pissing where he shouldn't??? I just bought a new duvet the other day and it's too big for the washing machine!

I have washed the pissy part with very hot water and bio stuff...and it now smells fine and is hanging over the radiator...WHAT CAN I DO???? I am asking here as the litter tray is full of people saying "Get Feliway"

No. I won't buy bloody Feliway....He's a mickey taking little craphead and I have spent enough money on his bladder. NO. AIBU to give him back? I cant and wont give hime back really but just need to vent and hope some advice comes my way.

I would have to get rid, I could not have a cat that pissed on the bed.#I have two lovley cats and thankfully have never had issue

By far the best litter on the market is cats best oko plus litter - it's about £8.50 for a 10 litre bag so SEEMS more expensive than say catsan which is about £5.50 for the same amount BUT it lasts about 2 months - it clumps amazingly and turns wee into a solid gel type lump which can be scooped out easily, I honestly can't recommend it highly enough, it doesn't smell (unlike all the other litters we've ever used and believe me, I think we've probably tried most)

Our cat started peeing on the sofa which was a bloomin' nightmare but only after my OH we started letting in a stray and feeding her - it was obvious he felt threatened. It got to the point where everytime we left the sofa unattended we had to chuck a load of cushions on it incase he tried to have a go on it.

You could try tin foil - cats hate it, lemon juice spritzed on a cloth and left on the bed - again, they cant stand the smell. First off though i would try the litter situation - it may smell fine to you but their senses are a lot more sensitive and they're funny little things when it comes to cleanliness (believe it or not). Good luck.

Too lazy to read whole thread Blush but I had this with mine.

You love the other cat more don't you?

I looked into it, and basically you have to overtly love the pisser cat, in front of the other one. Stroke the pissy cat and fuss it, and let it know you love it more than the non-pisser. (LIE woman, you can do it!)

Miraculously that fixed the problem. I tried loads of stuff before that, but the 'pretend to love him most' technique worked for us.

BandOMothers · 10/01/2012 14:19

I don't love the other cat more nagoo but Dh does. Angry He has been that way since they came. He didn't take to pissy cat s well and fussed good cat more....I have always made a big effort to be loving to both. In fact this morning I tried to give pissy cat more attention and he took it for once...he like being brushed so I did that a lot....I just got the wood type litter.

PMSL (excuse the pun) - it's true, it's all true - my two were like that when first introduced.

So long as I make sure pisser cat is greeted first, fed first, played with first, fussed etc and has my undevided attention when he demands it, he's usually fine now.

Never show that you love non-pisser cat in any way shape or form when both are in the same room with you though - instant jealousy.

BandOMothers · 10/01/2012 14:30

God. DH is putting pressure on me to try and rehome dear little pee-pee and I just can't BEAR it!

Nagoo · 10/01/2012 15:15

Get DH to do some piss cat loving.

good luck.

Areallytiredwoman · 10/01/2012 15:38

No advice but I feel your pain. My cat is 8 and has inermittently decided to piss in the hallway, living room and under the kids bed (didn't discover this for ages and it was rank Sad).

Its getting to he point where I am thoroughly fed up, having tried everything and DD will be crawling soon but devastated at the thought of giving her up which is what DP wants.

Good luck

BandOMothers · 10/01/2012 17:15

aaaaaah glad its getting better

BandOMothers · 10/01/2012 18:10

He's been more sociable and I am SURE it's due to giving him more attention and affection. Not that he was starved of it but he obviously needs to be worshipped.

"giving him more attention and affection. Not that he was starved of it but he obviously needs to be worshipped"

Aww, lovely - they all want worshipping I find, in the cat kingdom but even more so in the pedigree arena.

I take my hat off at the devotion to your two furries - pee or no pee.

Have to say, it really amazed me for a long time just how much love and attention a lot of cats seem to want and need- so much for the myth of their aloofness :)

Nagoo · 10/01/2012 18:33

yay! Keep up the overt loving :)

BandOMothers · 10/01/2012 18:36

Yes it's absolute tosh that they're stuck up! I have also put a new basket by the radiatior for them with a fleece blanket. Stinky bottom is in it right now...he's looking gratified.

Cat pees on bed....result....he is showered with love and given new bed. Hmm

Nagoo your advice combine wth a change of litter WILL secure his future I am sure!

cozietoesie · 10/01/2012 18:43

Oh well done, BOM! Good luck for the new strategy.

I remember when I'd picked up my second last boy (as a kitten) I overnighted at my father's, having left there a bag of woodpellet litter which someone had given me. (I'd never used it before.)

Little blighter got up in the middle of the night and peed all over the new, expensive, duvet my father had put on my bed. I got the message.

What really got my goat was the next morning when he settled down pleasurably on the new fuller's earth litter bought early on - with an unbearably smug look on his face.

mycatsaysach · 10/01/2012 18:45

yy to worship

Catsmamma · 10/01/2012 18:49

what on earth are you doing with cats if you are not worshipping them?? ;)

dearie me!

BandOMothers · 10/01/2012 19:01

I know catsmamma what was I thinking!

albertswearingen · 10/01/2012 19:05

One of our cats did this when he was younger- only on duvets. So we took the duvets off the beds every morning and he stopped and eventually when we put them back after a few months he never did it again. I think he liked the fact it was clean and soft and super absorbent. Your duvets will smell of cat pee now and as far as your cat is concerned is one large luxurious toilet.
However, my sister just had one of her cats rehomed as he suddenly started peeing on the sofa. The vet told her that some cats are just no good at sharing their space with another cat and even though he and his sister had been together for 2 years he suddenly couldn't cope. He was rehomed and apparently fine now.

inatrance · 10/01/2012 19:26

I feel your pain, my cat went through a phase of pissing and shitting on my sofa. You need some of that enzyme stuff that breaks down the smell, other cleaning stuff can make it worse. If its any consolation he's stopped doing it now!

BibiBlocksberg · 10/01/2012 19:32

"Cat pees on bed....result....he is showered with love and given new bed"

If nothing else, cats are EXCELLENT trainers of 'hoomins' - they could make a fortune if they could talk and share their technique properly.

Also seems to qualify the view I read about that said the little critters never do anything without a reason :)

The contortions I go to these days, having been carefully 'hot-housed' by my two moggies boggles the mind. I'm a very good trainee they tell me - after 4 years nary a water bowl is in put in the wrong place or the wrong flavour food served at the wrong time of day.

My report card does show 'could be speedier about opening front door' and 'must change bedding to meadow fresh clean set twice a week' though Grin

BandOMothers · 10/01/2012 20:12

Grin Bibi I reckon mine would say "Band is suspended until further notice."

OP posts:
BibiBlocksberg · 10/01/2012 20:24

'suspended until further notice' - love it! :)

Just remembered a poster on another thread recently describing her cats as seeing the humans as rude intruders to their house who occasionally make themselves useful by opening a tin/pouch/box.

So true, the possession of opposable thumbs is keeping a roof over our heads I reckon, otherwise we'd have all been evicted long ago :)
