We adpoted 2 Siamese brothers aged 6 about 9 months ago...LOVE them both...they're gorgous . BUT one of them keeps pissing on our bed and on DDs bed. He's a pissy panted little shithead and I am THIS close to handing him back!

He has been to the vet incase there was something wrong...no...all fine...he has been given a beautiful litter tray with door all of his own and has the best litter in it....his brother has his own tray too and has no problem going in it. Both trays are changed regularly.

Both of them eat the same food and have plenty of water...they have a daily constitutional in the garden and a lot of love. So why does the little urinator keep on pissing where he shouldn't??? I just bought a new duvet the other day and it's too big for the washing machine!

I have washed the pissy part with very hot water and bio stuff...and it now smells fine and is hanging over the radiator...WHAT CAN I DO???? I am asking here as the litter tray is full of people saying "Get Feliway"

No. I won't buy bloody Feliway....He's a mickey taking little craphead and I have spent enough money on his bladder. NO. AIBU to give him back? I cant and wont give hime back really but just need to vent and hope some advice comes my way.

My vet recommended taking the lid off the tray. I couldn't go for that but got one that had an opaque top so more light got in (apparently they like to see what they are doing) that and Feliway has stopped my cat crapping on the carpet instead of his litter tray. He never peed outside the box though.

cozietoesie · 09/01/2012 20:18

zukie

If the OP had an entire male he'd be too busy off outside doing the two things male Siamese do best to ever pee inside!

BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 20:23

He IS neutered and the thing that cozie says is interesting...whenever Itake the lid off the tray to change it, the pissy cat leaps in...I will remove the lid....cozie he loves hs brother but they do have this thing where the pissy cat will "mount" his brother...and bite his back....I always say "No!" as it looks weird and it's not nice...he's dominating him I guess? What can I do though? They do love one another...in a cat way...they cry for one another when they are apart...say if pissy cat is indoors and good cat is out...then pissy cries by the door till good at comes in!

Mounting his brother and biting his back?

Oh my.

BlackCatsAndPurpleDogs · 09/01/2012 20:26

if he is a housecat mainly -

Feliway (you say you don't want to hear it, tough shit, you don't want him pissing on your bed more)

3 litter trays, 1 up, 2 down. You need one per cat and one left over. Make sure at least one tray is the walk-in enclosed type, plus change the litter, he may hate the one you picked. I have has success with the crystal type as a lot of cats hate the clumping type, they refuse to use it if their paws hit clumps)

Put them on a mainly wet diet. Dry diet is not good for cats, can cause lots of urinary problems.I can recommend the tins of Animonda Carny or Smilla from Zooplus, they are fantastic plus they deliver. look at the reviews, it is cereal free and good for urinary tract.

Give him a month or 2 on Zylkene, calms down stressed cats (you cannot tell if cat is stressed just by sight alone) Buy from Viovet here

Anything else just ask Smile

issey6cats · 09/01/2012 20:26

if hes a whole tom cat this will be territorial behaviour he sees your bed as his place and washing the bedding will reinforce that he needs to mark it again, getting him neutered will cut down the hormone led territory marking, he would probably go in the litter tray more without the lid as not all cats like a closed litter tray, change the type of litter some cats like the wood pellets some like the clay type one, pump it into the kids to shut the doors and keep them out of your room, i put mine in the bathroom at night as its an easier room to clean, feliway dosent always work, and if nothing else works get him an indoor cage put his bedding in that and put him in there at night

BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 20:27

Cozie Yes! He does that...what? Is it terrible? It's not daily...

cozietoesie · 09/01/2012 20:28

I think you may need to consider an only cat situation, OP. I suspect they might both be happier. (They'll adjust real fast, trust me - particularly when they're allowed to sleep with you.)

cozietoesie · 09/01/2012 20:29

It's not 'terrible' bandomothers - it's just 'not usual between brothers' - or between male cats even!!

Did you ever find out from the rescue why they were given up?

JellyMould · 09/01/2012 20:30

First, get feliway. Why don't you want to? Second, when you wash anything he has pissed on, use a specific cleaner like this: www.deteracat.co.uk/cat-urine-eliminators.html. Otherwise he's likely to piss where he's pissed before.

WoollyHead · 09/01/2012 20:30

This sounds vile. I'd get rid of them.

cozietoesie · 09/01/2012 20:34

Try various of the suggestions above BandOMothers. Something is wrong for him, I think - drawing on years of living with Siamese. You've just got to work out what it is.

Best of luck, anyway.

Oggy · 09/01/2012 20:41

Ours did this for a bit, it was the wrong kind of litter, we got wood chip instead of the gravel kind. As soon as we went back to the gravel type litter she went back in the litter tray.

Picky little beggars, cats!

Ilovefluffysheep · 09/01/2012 20:41

Might not like the litter you're using? I foster for the RSPCA, and have found kittens in particular only really seem to like using clay, whilst the older cats are quite happy to use wood chip (which I much prefer). I had persisent weeing from a set of kittens a while ago, put a litter tray in with clay, and instantly cured the problem!

Give it a go, they really can be fussy little sods, and something this simple might solve the problem! Oh, and take the door off the litter tray, at least until they've started using the tray properly!

BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 20:42

Oh God I can't get rid of him! And woolly you're obviously not a cat or even an animal lover! Animals come with all kinds of issues...many pee in the home and there's usually a way round it.

cozie are you suggesting my cat is gay and into incest? Shock Surely it's not that unusual???

OP posts:
mummymccar · 09/01/2012 20:45

Sounds like a domination thing. The brother is making the tray his own and so your cat doesn't feel like he has anywhere else to go. Separate the litter trays, buy some Feliway to relax them (really does work, I promise) and spray some 'urine-off' on the underneath of your mattress. It won't do anything for you but it makes the cat think that the territory has already been claimed so they won't urinate there anymore. We did this when we bought a new air-bed and timid cat peed on it. We sprayed this stuff and she has never done it again.

BandOMothers · 09/01/2012 20:45

Cozie the resuce woman told me it was a bit odd...the lady who had owned them had obvously looked after them very well for 6 years...she had all ther papers...they had a tonnes of toys...nice beds etc....she just booked them into a cat hotel thing and informed the rescue they were there...and said if they ddn't get them at the end of the week then she would be dumping them! I wondered if she had mental health issues...now I think she''d only gne nuts with the piss!

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 09/01/2012 20:49

we had this problem with our two rescue moggies, who were supposed to be "inseparable".
cat one was being bullied by cats in the street, whom he seemingly could not avoid, despite cat 2 avoiding them. He reacted by bullying cat two, and pissing everywhere in the house, up to 3-4 times daily. we tried feliway, zylkene, physical health checks, the works.

we couldn't cope, and returned cat one to the shelter. they advised us that after 3 weeks there he was rehomed, where he is the only cat, and apparently the problem has completely resolved. cat two is sooo much happier now that cat one is elsewhere.

cozietoesie · 09/01/2012 20:51

Ah well. Try a different litter; try taking the top of the 'other one's' tray; clean newspaper underneath and put it somewhere quiet and out of the way; don't let the 'good' brother use it if you can and keep it ultra clean; 'urine-off' is suppose to be good and Feliway can work, especially if there's tension between cats.

And maybe let the 'not so good' cat sleep in bed with you if he wants? (All my cats always have. They regard being forced to sleep apart from their people as punishment!)

whomovedmychocolate · 09/01/2012 20:51

Hmm I have a rescue bengal who is on home three because he's an annoying little shit so I feel your pain. We discovered Ziggy has a talent for pissing over the plug hole in the basins. Fine most of the time but he likes to do it when you are on the loo. There's something deeply wrong with this Hmm

In ref to your problem - did you have a cat before who slept on your bed - could he be picking up on the smell.

Have you considered asking on Freecycle if anyone has some spare Feliway to try for a week to see if that fixes it before you invest in some?

OldMumsy · 09/01/2012 20:53

Siamese are very needy and clingy, and loud. Wonderful animals but a lot of work. Having said all that I would have his nuts off quick smart! Smile

cozietoesie · 09/01/2012 20:54

PS - and yes, that behaviour he's exhibiting with his brother is an attempt to dominate. All is not well there between the two of them - so if none of the suggestions work, I'd think of contacting Siamese Rescue and splitting them up. Sorry for that.

WoollyHead · 09/01/2012 20:55

You don't have to be an animal-hater to find the idea of cats pissing all over beds totally and utterly unacceptable Smile.
