Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tiredmum, teaandcake, valiumredhead and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

CheerfulYank · 15/02/2012 17:26

Hey Benchers. :) Nothing new to report, just stopping by to say hi!

DS is still at my parents, so tonight I'm going to do a big clean out in his room and throw away all the broken toys, all the ones with missing pieces, all the bits of paper and tape that seem to migrate there no matter how many times I say to leave that downstairs... Hmm I'm so excited to clean and give it a good vacuuming! :o

Tiredmumno1 · 15/02/2012 20:34

Hiya cheerful, wondered where you had got to Smile at least you get to clean up on peace Grin that's why I am looking forward to the kids going back to school, so I can clean in a bit of peace cos Jamie is no hassle yet Grin its easy to keep him amused at the mo.

And dh changes his job, so his hours will be a lot better, fingers crossed the boys settle into this school, it'll be nice to be able to walk them again, I will do a trial run tomorrow probably to see how quick we can do it.

Tiredmumno1 · 15/02/2012 20:35

on peace Hmm I meant in peace Blush

gomummygo · 16/02/2012 04:23

DH and I are celebrating (nothing exciting, just a personal victory). There has been wine. I just wanted to say that I think you all are wonderful. That is all. :)

Tiredmumno1 · 16/02/2012 10:33

Aww bless ya Gomummy, were you a lil bit tipsy Grin you know that we think you are wonderful as well right Smile

You sound happy, good for you hope you both enjoyed yourselves Grin

ElmoFan · 16/02/2012 11:40

:) Gomummy , Hope you both had a lovely night xx

Hows everyone today ?

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 16/02/2012 13:33

Yay for celebrating!

I think all of you are wonderful as well, and I'm not even tipsy! :o I don't know what I'd do without the Bench.

I'm just up and getting ready for work now...I fell asleep around 10:30 and didn't get up until 7. Shock It feels lovely.

On Monday I'm going to go with some friends to look at a house they might buy...I am pressuring attempting to get them to see how lovely our neighborhood is. :o There are a few kids already within a two or three block radius, and I just think it would be lovely if they could all walk to school together in a few years. And it would be nice in the summer for them to be able to play out freely together, with all of us knowing there is a parent keeping their eye out every few house. The friends own a bookstore and live in a little apartment above it. It's really cute, but they just got a dog who is going to be quite large when he grows up and they have two girls who are getting bigger every day... well, fingers crossed they like it! :)

DH is taking a half day off of work to meet my Dad and bring DS back home. He's had so much fun with my parents. :) I would have let him stay today too but he has a Tae Kwon Do test next week and he really needs to go to class tonight to practice.

What is everyone else up to? Tiredmum tell your DP good luck at his new job!

gomummygo · 16/02/2012 14:10

Grin Morning all!

Cheerful that sounds absolutely idyllic. Hope the house works out for your friends. And good luck to DS at Tae Kwon Do!

DS and I have been out quite a bit lately so today I am in obsessive house cleaning mode. Monica in her glory, lol. I have baked some pie crusts and DS is filling them. Thinks he is hiding the evidence of having eaten some of the berries, but has suspicious blue and red streaks beside his mouth. Later we'll go pie delivering.

I am feeling desperate for winter to be over, which is a bit hopeless for quite some time. I don't know what it is, I'm just sick of the dreary skies and snow, anxious to get planting and see green things grow. This winter has been very gentle with us, (so far, knock on wood), I have nothing to complain about. Just wishing for spring.

More good luck with new job, TiredmumDP!

gomummygo · 16/02/2012 19:44

AAAAHHH.

I respect everyone's right to their religion so long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. And I get that part of Jehovah's Witnesses religion is having to knock on doors. Fine. I am disinterested but polite. Fine.

BUT PLEASE, enough already. How many times in a month do I have to say thank you but I am not interested???? There must be other houses that can fill the need to do this. Can someone develop an address list perhaps so that we can avoid disturbing people a couple of times a week?

This afternoon I am OBVIOUSLY involved in fingerpainting with DS (evident by both of our hands covered in paint, or my painted apron or his painted smock, etc.) and trying to be nice.....can you please be a bit less pushy and get it that I am not into this right now?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH Sorry that was a bit rude but I am frustrated. I think I must have landed on some list, because this last month has been crazy, my recycle bin is full of Watchtower things.

Teaandcakeplease · 16/02/2012 19:53

Can you not answer the door at all? Grin

CheerfulYank · 16/02/2012 21:07

I despise being rude but I have just said "Oh I'm terribly busy and have my own religion thank you," and then just firmly shut the door.

Tiredmumno1 · 16/02/2012 21:17

I know how you feel Gomummy, that is one thing I can't stand, I don't think anyone should be able to try and push religion onto anybody, I think it's rather rude tbh, especially when they go on and on, and won't take no for an answer.

Aww he says thanks for the good luck wishes, I am a bit sad Sad as his hours are now different so won't be round in the day, but he should be back in time for dinner, it's something I'll have to get used to again, me and Jamie will be all by ourselves.

gomummygo · 17/02/2012 04:10

I'd quite love to not answer it Tea, but we have a number of our adopted seniors who tend to show up when they need help as they don't like to talk on the phone Confused, must be a generational thing. Anyway I'd hate for any of them to travel all the way here and have no answer, so I always feel I have to answer the door.

The other side of that is that it is being publicized quite a bit about there being a break and enter thing going on around here where they ring your front doorbell and if no answer, they go round and break in the back door!

Cheerful what do you do if they keep "Yes, but have you thought about..." talking whilst you are shutting the door?

Ah Tiredmum, I bet you and Jamie don't get much time alone together, it will be special time for just the two of you! :) Lovely baby days.

CheerfulYank · 17/02/2012 05:17

I would just say "yes, yes I have" and close the door. "Sorry, goodbye."

Once I purposely gave some Mormon missionaries the wrong phone number because I couldn't just say no when they asked for it. Blush

Teaandcakeplease · 17/02/2012 09:08

A nice man has asked to take me to the cinema or theatre and I'm shitting myself. Ironically he's a pilot. He e-mailed me abut it all and like an idiot I replied with a very scared response.

Now if you want the e-mail trail to review, then you'll have to message me. You can dissect it for me. I need my buddies to help me.

Teaandcakeplease · 17/02/2012 09:10

GoMummy you need to just keep repeating in a firm voice. No thank you I am not interested, please do not call again. Over and over. Be brave. (Says the girl bricking herself about a simple request to go to the cinema)/

ElmoFan · 17/02/2012 10:50

Gomummy - we get a lot of them knocking on our door here as they have a building only 5 minutes walk from my estate . My usual response is "It's against my religion to accept literature on another religion , sorry " and shut the door . Dh on the other hand likes to wind them up by asking them for their address so he can pay them a visit at an equally unsuitable time to push his religion onto them in a likewise manner Blush Q them scurrying away Grin

Tea - I am very excited for you , and nervous too . You deserve to be happy lovely xxxxx

I have been put in a very awkward situation this morning . Received a text during the night from an EX -friend that has brought a situation to a head that i thought was long since settled :(

Aaaahhhhh! tea! I want those emails immediately! How exciting. :)
