Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tiredmum, teaandcake, valiumredhead and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

Ooo I like that one!!! I think whatever I did for book day DD would use again, she loves dressing up but I should save my money Blush I have an MOT and road tax due in March.

CheerfulYank · 09/02/2012 20:49

This is cheaper, but I don't know if the postage would be a lot since it's American?

Tiredmumno1 · 09/02/2012 20:56

Could ex dh dip into his pockets and pay?

Tiredmumno1 · 09/02/2012 21:00

another one

Teaandcakeplease · 09/02/2012 21:00

It's only a book day though Tiredmum. I'm just loving the dresses.

Have any of you seen the thread in chat about curtains? An awful lot of people are admitting to leaving their curtains closed all day I haven't said anything too confrontational on there, from fear of being flamed. But I hate the thought and look of houses where people keep their curtains closed all the time. I love the sunlight shining in. Houses which always have their curtains closed look depressing and I couldn't bear the thought (being a sahm) of being in a dark house all day. Some say it is to save on heating costs, but do they not then spend money on electric for lighting?

Tiredmumno1 · 09/02/2012 21:00

How old is she now tea?

Tiredmumno1 · 09/02/2012 21:01

Grin I should stop getting carried away tea, I shall stop encouraging you now BlushGrin

Tiredmumno1 · 09/02/2012 21:02

I like having the curtains open so I can be nosy enjoy the light

Teaandcakeplease · 09/02/2012 21:03

DD is age 4, that dress isn't small enough, she likes reds, golds, pinks etc. I think that dress would be too dark for her Grin LOL. She is such a girlygirl. I love the boys Tudor outfits too, I can enjoy dressing DS up too when he starts school in due course Smile

I think I'm going to go and have a Brew and watch some television

CheerfulYank · 09/02/2012 21:04

I know! My friend was over helping me clean and kept closing the curtains. I can't stand that, I have to fling them open every morning.

I get depressed and sleepy in dark houses. Blush

Teaandcakeplease · 09/02/2012 21:04

I always imagine these darkened houses with people shuffling about and mess everywhere, when they have their curtains closed. You imagine if they do not care enough to open their curtains that the inside must be interesting too

Teaandcakeplease · 09/02/2012 21:05

Did she Cheerful? Did you have a word? Wink

Teaandcakeplease · 09/02/2012 21:07

I was depressed in that awful dark flat in Surrey. That was where my marriage broke down and H began his affair. Awful dark place Give me bright sunny places anyday.

Tiredmumno1 · 09/02/2012 21:38

Aw tea that sounds like a dark and depressing place, is the snow lighting the place up now.

Just stick with your original idea regarding the dress, I think that would be fine Smile

gomummygo · 10/02/2012 19:40

Blush I'm that depressing person! I love them closed. DH hates it. We compromise here, in the really cold or really hot weather (does make a huge difference as they are three heavy layers), he's happy to keep them closed, the rest of the time they are open during the day.

I have an odd love of my window dressings Blush and feel cosier with them closed. I can promise you there's no mess though! Grin

Tea can/would you rent dresses? I had to dress up in period clothes on a number of occasions as a child and my mum would rent them from a costume designer? They are so adorable though, I love your original #3!

Teaandcakeplease · 10/02/2012 20:09

Can anyone see your curtains are always closed though GoMummy? I think if I lived in freezing temperatures and surrounded by snow for most of Winter I maybe the same as you. It is seriously cold in your neck of the woods x

gomummygo · 10/02/2012 20:38

No, I suppose no one could see unless they came well into my driveway. I don't mind them open so much in the summer, but do need them closed to keep the heat out when it's really hot as we have no a/c. In the winter it is insanely bright all the time as we are surrounded by fields of snow on all sides which reflects the light - DH likes that quite a lot but is a stickler for keeping the heat in/cold out so he is torn! Grin Not me, I'm happy to be snuggled in my cave, as DH calls it! Blush

Think we must have very poor quality windows though as when the curtains are open you can really feel the cold come in.

I will admit to loving it in the spring when I can take all the curtains down and wash and air them on the clothesline and obsessively clean every crevice of the windowframes Grin But they're back up the same night!

I always wondered what it was like though, if you live somewhere with sidewalks where people can walk by your house...do they look in if your curtains are open? Does that bother you? Or other apartments across the street at the same level, iykwim?

CheerfulYank · 11/02/2012 01:55

I've got a bit of a front yard, so people can't really see in during the day. But during nighttime they could a bit better when I have the lights on, so I keep them closed then.

Tiredmumno1 · 11/02/2012 11:52

Morning buddies, what have you all got planned for the weekend, is it a busy one or a nice lazy one Grin

ElmoFan · 11/02/2012 12:19

Oooh definitely a lazy one here Grin Going to start cooking a roast dinner with all the trimmings soon < yum>

Hows Everyone ? :)

CheerfulYank · 11/02/2012 15:44

Chris O'Dowd is adorable in that movie! :)

I don't have a lot of plans for the weekend either...want to get lots of cleaning done, and rest a lot...I've been soooo tired lately.

ElmoFan · 11/02/2012 16:28

Looks like the movie will have to wait until tomorrow night , dh has just been called into work to work a late shift :( it was meant to be his day off .

Chris O'Dowd is really cute isn't he :)

Roast dinner here as well Elmo, feels like a comfort food day. Not a lazy one at all here Tiredmum, unfortunately. Today I've mostly been working on DH's car and hope to finish tomorrow. Envy @ people with heated garages today. Stupid cars have too many plastic parts now and they snap when you try to work on them in the cold. Grr.

DS got up at FOUR this morning and decided that it was a perfectly good time to start the day despite my pleading. He is still full of energy, and I am full of coffee.

What's making you so tired, Cheerful?

CheerfulYank · 12/02/2012 00:26

No, nothing like that! :) My sleep has just been out of order lately, which is my own fault...when DS is asleep at night and everything's quiet I have a really hard time going to bed because I can do whatever I want. Blush
