I know that this post may have some mixed reviews and may even get me slated but I can,t help it.
Someone I know although she is a genuine case her and her husband have as much as me and dh coming in and with a brand new car thrown in for good measure.
I can only dream of a new car and I work my tripe off 5 days a week as well as dh whilst some people can sit at home and get the same income coming in it seems really unfair.

This thread also highlights to me how much mis-reading of posts goes on and how hard it is to express how you feel/don't feel about something without it being mis-interpreted by someone!

PresidentWensleydale · 08/01/2012 23:15

MNHQ won't delete this thread because it is "educating".
Don't know about any of you lot but I am sick of educating dick heads, so far in fact that I have'nt even commented other than saying i'm reporting.
Bullshit as per usual, see if I was to start an a thread on race like this one how quick would it go and who would be warned?

GypsyMoth · 08/01/2012 23:15

Thing is, you can't just sit around and claim benefits!!!

You have to be seeking work, actively, if there is no disability. You have to prove you have gone to interviews/applied for jobs/ updated cv/gone on courses.

So which benefits does op..... And as she has done a runner, her supporters, actually mean?Confused

WhingingNinja · 08/01/2012 23:15

boohoo - You are right. There should be help available for those who are struggling. I don't agree that the state should help you set up a business as such, but yes if you are in need there should be help available.

But it isn't the fault of those who do receive help. Don't begrudge those who are in even greater need than yourself the help that they get.

ouryve · 08/01/2012 23:16

Bit late, aren't I? Should have had my free car on DLA bingo card ready hours ago.

WhingingNinja · 08/01/2012 23:17

why should they delete the thread?

If it is ok for the government to slander us in the way they do why should some ignorant fucknuggets on MN?

Jux · 08/01/2012 23:17

FriendofDorothy, do you know what you just said there? "Who doesn't feel a bit narked when they feel as though they work all the time when someone else gets things more easily?"

Let me make it a little bit clearer: "someone else gets things more easily"

Got it, now?

AmberLeaf · 08/01/2012 23:22

Re misinterpreting, the point is she and others like her dont actually know the 'benefit fraudsters' circumstances they just think they do.

Whats really sad is for most this is just about money and how unfair it is blah blah blah

For me and others like me, its about my disabled child who will grow into a disabled adult who will outlive me.

He will one day be at the mercy of a society filled with bastards like those posting on this thread.

That thought is both depressing and terrifying.

Jux · 08/01/2012 23:25

Thatcher introduced the Enterprise Scheme, which helped people set up their own business. You got (depending upon your LA) up to 1yr Housing Benefit and £40 a week for 1 yr. It was, at first, quite highly 'policed'. Things went wrong, of course, and I'm sure there were some people who diddled the system. Can't remember when it died a death. I suppose it didn't convert enough sole traders into employers, but that's a whole other debate.

GoingForGoalWeight · 08/01/2012 23:27

AMBERLEAF

EXACTLY how i feel, just couldn't pen how i felt with such acuracy.

What's the solution?

ElaineReese · 08/01/2012 23:30

I never understand why all The people who are so jealous of benefit claimants don't just give up work and claim benefits, if it's so bloody much fun. Idiots.

Jux · 08/01/2012 23:31

Amberleaf, society goes around in circles though. There has been benefit bashing before and there will be again. In between those times, society is kinder and more generous. You hope that people will learn a little bit.

I think that possibly some of the people on this thread are very young, ignorant and perhaps not very bright. Perhaps the benefits system should be included in the National Curriculum so that children learn about it before they grow up to be ignorant and unimaginative adults.

On the other hand, some people just like a fight Grin

ouryve · 08/01/2012 23:31

This:

For me and others like me, its about my disabled child who will grow into a disabled adult who will outlive me.

My 5 year old has kids his age taking the piss out of him without their parents even trying to stop them. What the hell does he have in store for him as an adult?

WhingingNinja · 08/01/2012 23:32

the depressing truth is that the people leading the country seem to be hell bent on sending us back to the age of the work houses and asylums.

GoingForGoalWeight · 08/01/2012 23:34

Jimmy Carr and Jervais knob do no thelp the cause either.

lovebeinganana · 08/01/2012 23:38

My dd worked as a nursery nurse for many years but when dgs was born couldn't face going back to work decided to work from home as a childminder something she had always wanted to do but never had courage to leave work.

There was a period of 2 months from maternity pay finishing and first child starting so dd asked if she was entitled to any help for those two months that's all she wanted. The reaction from benefits why do you want to work you can get as much on benefits, my dd told them she preferred to work to which the benefits lady replied "you are stupid."

ReindeerBollocks · 08/01/2012 23:41

This the usual benefits type thread, with the disability bashing and unemployment (read lazy wanker) stereotypes?

Shame it's never accurate, or that what they pay some people in benefits saves the Government shitloads.

Shame those 'hardworking' people never think about that.

ohyouknow · 08/01/2012 23:41

think of why the employers don't pay more of a living wage. Divide and rule, and you'll be a fool. Seriously, think about it.

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 08/01/2012 23:42

Don't worry too much. The people who may have been deleted for telling the idiots to fuck off Grin also have children, who will grow up to tell bigots where to go.

ReindeerBollocks · 08/01/2012 23:45

Here's hoping Narky Grin.

GoingForGoalWeight · 08/01/2012 23:48

Carers should get MORE than we get now. Might save a lot of children/adults with disability/illness needing full time care in a Government funded place, win which the costing is astronomical. Might allow us to pay for relief of care in our own homes and help prevent us becoming worn out, frustrated, bored, lonely and in despair. Also we can have a holiday.

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 08/01/2012 23:53

As on every thread like this - I really should c + p it - I feel that I should point out that if all the money fraudulently claimed in all benefits was a puddle, tax avoidance by big business would be an ocean.

Why aren't people angry with those who keep the minimum wage so low and set the ridiculously low level at which income tax kicks in? Why be angry at those getting benefits? Why not be angry at those who allow full time low income workers so little take home pay?

If there are any MNers around who are self employed or whose DPs are, they will tell you what happens if they go a few days over the Inland Revenue deadline for paying their taxes. If you've ever had a letter informing you that they've recalculated your tax owed for a previous year and you owe them £££ how little time do they give you to pay? Huge corporations owe millions and are allowed to negotiate their payment plans! And that's the tax they actually pay.

ohyouknow · 08/01/2012 23:54

don't be angry or have hatred towards your friend, be angry towards the capitalist culture, and your employers who, probably could pay you more. A car is a luxary for most but a necessecity for some. Think about the big businesses who are getting let off millions in tax. And do something about that ...
