I know that this post may have some mixed reviews and may even get me slated but I can,t help it.
Someone I know although she is a genuine case her and her husband have as much as me and dh coming in and with a brand new car thrown in for good measure.
I can only dream of a new car and I work my tripe off 5 days a week as well as dh whilst some people can sit at home and get the same income coming in it seems really unfair.

OP posts:
molepom · 08/01/2012 21:51

I'll swap my ds's disabilities with anyone who's willing to let me have a 10 minute shower in peace that's not at 4am (if I'm lucky).

AmberLeaf · 08/01/2012 21:52

Why is there not a system so that others in difficulty can lease a car cheaply

Wah wah wah!

Because others in 'difficulty' can use public transport if they cant afford to maintain a car.

Unbloodybelievable.

molepom · 08/01/2012 21:53

Then move.

DanJARMouse · 08/01/2012 21:54

Exactly the reason I am having to MOVE HOUSE to be where there is work...... if you NEED a car to get to work because no other transport is viable, then you do what i am having to do, and MOVE.

AmberLeaf · 08/01/2012 21:55

Yep move.

GoingForGoalWeight · 08/01/2012 21:55

Take the matter up with your MP nothngoldcanstay. I ge you are in a difficult situation but be glad you can work when your children are older and you are still not stuck in the house wiping their bums, feeding them when they are 16 and older.

BE GREATFUL

WhingingNinja · 08/01/2012 21:55

I actually think that threads like these should be printed off and sent to Dave SCAMeron.

I want him to see what his outrageous slandering of the disabled in order to justify his cuts and welfare reform bill is doing.
I want him to see the disgusting sickening opinions of the general public towards those on benefits due to disability.

then i want to ask him how proud he feels to know that he is making it not only worse financially for those who have to suffer this bullshit, but also the fact that they are being sneered at, spoken about and judged by their neighbours. That disablist comments are going to increase as he is portraying "us" as lazy frauds and spongers.

I will repeat the question that was asked of him on the ONe show. "how do you sleep at night"?

molepom · 08/01/2012 21:57

Whingin Ninja!

Whoah. What one show episode was he asked that? I missed that one! Would love to see it. Can you remember what day it was on?

DanJARMouse · 08/01/2012 21:57

Whingingninja - fabulous idea. If I had a printer (which i dont because i cant afford one being on benefits!) I would do it in a heartbeat.

molepom · 08/01/2012 21:58

I'll do it as soon as DS is asleep.

Just find out where I need to send it for me please.

voddiekeepsmesane · 08/01/2012 21:58

Custys right in saying "if life isn't treating you kindly - only you can change it"

Because you are not disabled you are able to change your life that is the big difference wouldn't you say.

expatinscotland · 08/01/2012 22:00

I'd be more than happy to give up any and all benefits forever if it cured her cancer.

WhingingNinja · 08/01/2012 22:02

it was a while ago.
Sadly the guy asking it meant it more in the "oh you must have so much on your mind how do you get time to sleep let alone switch your brain off" but i literally squeeled with laughter when it was shown to me.

molepom · 08/01/2012 22:03

Hi Expat, Hows your girl doing tonight?

I'm giving bloodd on Thursday so will sign up for the bonemarrow donation too while I'm there. I just need to ask them a couple of questions first x

molepom · 08/01/2012 22:05

LOL.

Brinkley didnt take it to mean that though by the sound of that gasp and Scameron covered that well.

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 08/01/2012 22:06

Amberleaf - that situation would come under my GENUINELY NEED to sah thought.

When my DH worked ft, and I worked part time, with 1 child in part time care, I got over £500 a month! I was amazed when they told me that - that, to me, is a ridiculous amount to be paying out.

Different circumstances now. Husband earning (thankfully) quite a bit more and I'm a sahm for the moment with our new baby.

Also think the childcare system is shockingly expensive. How on earth are you supposed to work and make any decent money if you have to pay most or all of your wages on childcare?

GoingForGoalWeight · 08/01/2012 22:08

chocaddict you are just ignorant of the facts, You say you work your tripe off 5 days a week?

BEING DISABLED AND BEING A CARER IS 24/7 FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES

It's very hard work, it;s relentless with no real respite. What you make of what you see on the outside - the car etc - doesn't tell the whole story.

You have a limited mind, educate yourself about how disability can affect a person and everyone around them.

Can't you be grateful you have your 5 senses and can write, read, talk, etc.

Honestly there really is nothing to be envious of.

I'm so scared as I'm almost 38 and have been on benefits for years as a carer, no career or savings no holidays, no husband probably never beable to give my DS siblings, but i'm aware people are worse off.

What will become of me?

PresidentWensleydale · 08/01/2012 22:10

I have reported this thread as I imagine have many others to MNHQ, it really is not right that this thread has not been deleted - not nice and ffs mn cop on please.

WhingingNinja · 08/01/2012 22:15

she works her tripe off five days a week? Good for her.

I work full time. Then i rush home to do the second shift. Im a single parent to a child with autism and related Learning delay, low mobility and various other Behavioural conditions.
he doesn't sleep. He doesn't sit still. He doesn't understand mummy is tired and needs a rest. He doesn't just sit in front of the TV so i can put my feet up.

He has a sister too. One who despite being younger helps look after him. who at aged 7 knows to distract him when i am cooking. But who also desperately wants and needs some of mummys time for herself.

and guess what? I still don't get the swanky new car or the plasma tv or the foreign holidays some of you seem to think are given out whilly nilly.

But do you think that for one brief second i feel envious of those that do qualify for the cars? of course not. I just think that however bad i have it, it must be so much worse for those people if they qualify for it.

why is it so difficult to comprehend that the more they get the more they must surely need?

ProPerformer · 08/01/2012 22:15

Right, my final word in this then I am asking for this whole thread to be deleted:

Call me what you like - I really don't give two hoots!!
I am NOT necassaruly agreeing with the OP - indeed, I have a friend who has DLA who used to work but quit because on her min wage job with the hours she could manage and the 'dla' given to her while in employment she was better off not working!
I don't begrudge ANYONE the benefits they are due and totally can see why disabled people get the money and often wish they would get more.

BUT When no incentive is given for anyone to work because even WTC is shit (DH is unemployed at the mo but on min wage job I'd get naff all WTC because I work too many hours) I would be better off if I worked less hours and claimed DLA for my 'Work related stress' I am entitled to claim it but don't - not saying others shouldn't but it's a personal choice. Again personal choice but a work collegue of mine has ME and is an LSA - because she chose to work despite her me her allowance was cut!
In my 'gap year' I worked at a firm that employs loads of 'disabled people' as many can work - my DH has aspergers but will never get DLA or any benefits because of it even though it is a disability because he is able to work and for a high salary - being disabled does not always mean you can't work!
Again I stress I am all for benefits for those who really can't work.

I am totally saddened by all the stories of those having trouble with getting much needed DLA and by those who work hard but live in the sticks and can't move house to be able to not need a car because moving house in this day and age is not bloody easy.

Oh and those of you just on this thread to 'annoy and get at the OP'.....
GROW UP!!! I would be much more inclined to not defend the OP if it wasn't for comments like that. Try to see both sides like I am I am leaning more towards not agreeing with OP but can see her point in a way but.... I'm sorry name calling and petty rudeness is out of order in my book no matter what the situation is.

Right now to make sure this argument is def I over I'm going to mention the Nazis...... (not alluding to anyone or anything, just trying to lighten the mood and because as the saying goes: 'an argument is always over when someone mentions the Nazis'

Now please admin DELETE THE THREAD!!

molepom · 08/01/2012 22:16

I say keep the thread to highlight the issues and ignorance and abuse the disabled and carers have to face on a day to day basis.

Comments like these are made all the time and by MN showing readers what people in that situation have to put up with by keeping the thread can only be a good thing and may even open up a few eyes and cause people the actually think before commenting.

Deleting the thread will only brush it all under the carpet and encourage more people to post more ignorant threads because "it's ok and surely everyone else thinks the same as me on this site".

Up to you MNHQ, what are you going to do?

JustHecate · 08/01/2012 22:16

You know, if this thread had read AIBU to hate black people to be as well off if not better than us...

...It would not be here now.

And if MNHQ insults us by defending it on the grounds of 'debate' I shall immediately start said AIBU to hate black people thread and prove myself right.

maypole1 · 08/01/2012 22:19

The long and short of it is that someone who lies of benefits should not enjoy a better lifestyle than those who work espically as its those who work whom are paying for it.

I my slef know someone who after 13 of not work has now decided to look for work I say decided well been made to due to the changes

She receives
A uniform grant for all four
Free school meals
Half price oyster card for her self
Half price lesuire pass
Half price entry for all counil run holiday clubs
A budgeting lone
Crisis loan
Couminty care grant

Me and my oh both work
I have to srimp all year to get my sons uniform
If I didn't have the money for school dinner he would simply have to go with out my buss pass costs me £20 a week if I don't have the money I have to use my bike
My sons swimming lessons cost me £70 a term if I didn't have the mney he wouldn't be able to go.
If my cooker brakes down I don't get a budgeting lone I use the microwave until I can afford a new cooker
If my house burnt down and I didnt have house insurance I would recive no help let alone a crisis lone
And when I move house I have t beg friends to help me move and furnish the house my self know one gives me up to £1000 to move house

All this ladies children have lap tops the two oldest have the new iPhone 4 and for their birthday in three weeks she has rented the ice rink at a cost of £600
Taken care of by the tax payer she told the social her fridge broke down an applied for a budgeting loan she was awarded £600

We're can I go to get a lone of £600 repayable at £10.57 a week intrest free

He income is more than our working combined and if you include her housing benafit it's more than double which makes me vomit

whinging I saw that in the yearly round up. Hilarious. I think the bloke did mean it because he is from a mining town. He wouldnt say explictitly what he meant but he is a mainstream, light entertainment presenter so I think he did pretty well considering Grin

He hinted very heavily that he meant 'how can you sleep at night you evil wanker'.
