DH has just taken kids swimming, I am at home as I don't like to be in the pool with him. His back is so hairy, children stare. I notice them, he doesn't. I just can't relax and have fun as I just feel sad to see the reactions. In the summer I usually immac his back and then its not so in your face furry. Sigh.

Wow shallow much.

If he refused to go somewhere with you because of the way you looked I bet you would have something to say Hmm

Not nice at all

Ask him if he might shave again but if not get over it

CailinDana · 07/01/2012 13:46

I'm assuming this is a windup. If it isn't I feel very sorry for your poor husband.

ASByatt · 07/01/2012 13:49

"Just got back from taking kids swimming. Thank goodness DW didn't want to come along too, I hate it when I see kids laughing at her dimply bum, it ruins the swim for me as I can't relax and have fun, it's embarrasing."

Well OP, how would you feel about that?

[Footnote - I'm not accusing the OP of having a dimpled derriere.....]

Trills · 07/01/2012 13:51

YABVU

YankNCock · 07/01/2012 13:51

My DH has terrible scars from multiple spinal surgeries AND a hairy back. He hates going swimming because he thinks people stare, and I have to do a lot of reassuring that people don't really care. Thank fuck he married me and not you OP.

BarkisIsWillin · 07/01/2012 13:52

Had to click on this when I saw ASByatt had contributed - ASB just as beautifully written as I would have expected from so accomplished a writer!

openerofjars · 07/01/2012 13:53

See, my DH is too self conscious to go swimming at all because of people like the OP.

I wish he felt able to, because the exercise would be really good for him and we'd love to go swimming as a family, but he is too shy and thinks that people will laugh at him.

fuzzpig · 07/01/2012 13:54

Does he object to you immaccing his back Hmm

SantasENormaSnob · 07/01/2012 13:54

So you are physically perfect then op?

Notalone · 07/01/2012 13:54

Your poor DH. What a shallow person he married. Does it really matter what anyone else thinks of his back. I am sure you are far from perfect yourself. Get over yourself and spend some time with your family rather than being hung up over something so trivial.

TopazMortmain · 07/01/2012 13:54
Sad
Gleek · 07/01/2012 13:59

YABU - and mean!

Plenty of men have hairy backs, it's nothing to be embarrassed about, try having fun with your H and children instead of observing everyone's reaction to his hairy back!

ASByatt · 07/01/2012 14:00

  • BarkisIsWillin - why thank you! Smile

Your charming post is helping to distract me from my shame at having spelt 'embarrassed' incorrectly - clearly time for me to get back to writing my current novel, it's really taken possession of me - you know, like a wonderful children's book? Grin

ladyWinterfell · 07/01/2012 14:03

Honestly guys its Hairy
But your are right, I should try to be less shallow.
But if my thighs were soooo dimply that children laugh, then I might be tempted to get my ass of sofa and exercise.
Does no one else have a DH who can sometimes be an embarrassing slob?
I think ASByatt's post was lovely too!

pictish · 07/01/2012 14:04

This is a wind up.

My dh has a hairy back as well. He hates it and is very self concious about it.
I certainly don't care about it....it's not as if he ordered it, is it? "I'll have blue eyes and a hairy back please!"
It took years for me to entice him to the pool because of it.

If you're for real OP, then you need to grow up.

JustHecate · 07/01/2012 14:10

If the hairy back is so much of a problem, why did you marry someone with one and have children with him? Answer - because you love him. The person. And that's what matters, isn't it?

So he's got hair. Big deal. We're primates. We have hair. There isn't anything embarrassing or slobby about having body hair. You aren't a slob because the hair follicles on your body sprout big black hairs. Right now, it is - fashionable, basically - to pluck, wax and immac yourself down to the bloody bone. But there is nothing wrong with choosing to not do that.

So what if silly, shallow people laugh. That says everything about them and nothing about your husband.

exoticfruits · 07/01/2012 14:11

What a silly reason-who do you think is noticing? Confused

FutureNannyOgg · 07/01/2012 14:12

Does he know you immac his back. The reason I ask is that when I was a student, we immaced an anarchy logo into my flatmate's hairy back when he was drunk and asleep at the kitchen table. We did tell him, he thought it was hilarious, but not as much as when I drew all over body "tattoos" with biro. Oh happy days.

Oh and YABU, let him be proud of his bearyness, it's nice in the age of BSC waxing that he is comfortable as he is.

JustHecate · 07/01/2012 14:12

I think I'd quite like a hairy bloke, tbh. I think it'd be lovely to stroke it and cuddle up to. All manly and a bit like a big teddy bear that hugs back

ladyWinterfell · 07/01/2012 14:13

SantasENormaSnob no I am not perfect - but i do shave my legs.
fuzzpig immacing not too bad, he was not so keen when I waxed it though Blush

MabelLucyAttwell · 07/01/2012 14:15

I have a friend whose husband's back is just black with fur. I think it's rather .... hmmmm .... manly, don't you?

MabelLucyAttwell · 07/01/2012 14:15

And strokeable.

ladyWinterfell · 07/01/2012 14:16

JustHecate you reply as so nice thank you. I much better way of making me get over myself than....well...others.
