To have still not come up with a suitable name for ladybits after 8 years???

I am totally U. Not only unreasonable but indesicive and repressed as hell.

Since DD came along 8 years ago have never called bits anything at all, just struggled to find a moniker that doesn't make me cringe or blush. DD isn't too scarred but DS 2.5 has recently become quite aware of his 'waddi' ( he named it so ) and obv the boys have this girls have that convo has come up.

What on earth do I call it?????

foreverondiet · 07/01/2012 20:57

We called it front bottom when I was little but decided I didn't like that as it isn't a bottom! Decided on Noonie, DD now 8 and although I found it hard to use initially that what we call it here.

re: someone being called Noonie, well, when DC saw Charlie and Choc factory they thought it hysterical that someone called willy wonka as DS calls his penis a willy.

NorthernWreck · 07/01/2012 20:58

I don't see why Fanny is any ruder than Willy.
Think about it-why is Willy pretty much universal, but it's direct equivelant is considered rude?
The thing is, if you say "Willy" to a doctor, she knows what you mean. Same with Fanny. If you say "Lulu" the doctor thinks ???

Your quite welcome Fooffy!

PercyFilth · 07/01/2012 21:06

One problem with fanny is that that Americans think it means arse (or ass, as they say).

rootietootie · 07/01/2012 21:18

fluff for a girl, tosil for a boy in this house.

Blatherskite · 07/01/2012 21:49

We were using 'bits' but recently Dh has started referring to it as a 'DooDah'

I'm not impressed

fit2drop · 07/01/2012 21:51

Well Im gonna call mine Nicholas from now on .

musttidyupmusttidyup · 07/01/2012 22:05

puravida am I misunderstanding? Some one called their child tuppence? Shock
We use Tuppy in this house, derived from Tuppence.

Feminine · 07/01/2012 22:08

Of course living in the US, I have had lots of fun with the word Fanny

"Oh look Feminine, she has fallen and hurt her fanny" or...where is my fanny pack?

My dd3 caught sight of me the other day and said"I like your furry bottom Mummy"

tyler80 · 07/01/2012 22:12

I had to run away and hide my amusement when an older lady remarked to me "my fanny's all wet now" when I lived in the US

(she'd sat down in a wet bench)

nooka · 07/01/2012 22:23

Fanny seems to have died out as a term, I've not heard anyone use it for ages, apart from to snigger when Americans do. I think it's a pity because I agree with NorthernWreck it should really be the equivalent of willy. We tried using vulva but dd seems to prefer just saying 'privates,. ds uses that too, and I think it's fine, a teacher/doctor would know what they were talking about it needed (I do think this is a potential problem with some of the odder terms).

Jins · 07/01/2012 22:29

How come in 8 pages the word chuff hasn't been mentioned?

IheartmyPanda · 07/01/2012 22:42

DS (4), DD (2) - willy and gina (as in vagina)

They know the anatomically correct names (penis & vulva/vagina), but the above are in every day usage.

thepeoplesprincess · 07/01/2012 22:43

Fanny IS crass, and I'm as far from Scortland as it's possible to get.
I just refer to it as 'downstairs' when talking to the girls. Eg Have you washed downstairs?

I call mine my vag or undercarriage.
My friend refers to it as her womanhood.

PS: I thought lady garden refers specifically to the pubes? As in, I'm just pruning my lady garden.

myTHINyear · 07/01/2012 22:45

Yony is nice

DontAskMeSums · 07/01/2012 22:52

Another vote for Fanjo.

Front bottom is yucky.

Penny and Tuppence remind me of slot machines. So wrong.

Mini? Really? After 3 kids - one a ten pounder - does that mean I now have a Maxi?:o

Antidote · 08/01/2012 00:15

Another vote for 'neaf' as in 'underneath', making me wonder if I know FuriousRox

DodieSmith · 08/01/2012 00:44

I grew up calling it a minnie and felt vaguely embarrassed that no one else seemed to call it that. We use fanny with DD and I think it's nice and chid friendly without being a euphanism.

WelshMoth · 08/01/2012 07:14

This thread just made me grin a little when it started and to snigger when I read all the different names that we have, but I'm curious now as to why there's such ambiguity about our female genitalia. Y'see - even there, I'm reluctant to say vagina. Vagina. Vagina. Vagina. Why on earth doesn't this feel right????

Are we repressed? Penis and Willy. Compare this with out MAMMOTH list for our Vagina. It's crazy.

I want someone to write a PhD on this please. Grin

Or at the very least, a brief paragraph explaining why many of us are shy about all this.

talkingnonsense · 08/01/2012 07:48

We used to call ours a Mary-Lou, I'd forgotten till just now! I'd probably say fanny to a child now.

CuriosityCola · 08/01/2012 11:15

Elaine, that is really interesting. I don't consider myself a feminist, but it really put me off calling it a vagina.

Agreed that fanny isn't a good option up here Grin

Op, I think the array of choices shows yanbu!

CuriosityCola · 08/01/2012 11:16

Welshmoth, I could create a similar sized list for boy parts. Blush

GruffalowsMammy · 08/01/2012 11:18

Vagina, jesus surely you don't want your DC's to be repressed as well?

WelshMoth · 08/01/2012 11:27

Um. No, Gruffalows, hence I'm asking the question here. Looking for answer, not criticism.
