I am totally U. Not only unreasonable but indesicive and repressed as hell.

Since DD came along 8 years ago have never called bits anything at all, just struggled to find a moniker that doesn't make me cringe or blush. DD isn't too scarred but DS 2.5 has recently become quite aware of his 'waddi' ( he named it so ) and obv the boys have this girls have that convo has come up.

What on earth do I call it?????

It would be good if there was a direct equivalent like willy. Why isn't there? I mean, there are millions of words, but none of them quite work and they're all very indirect.

I think it is a feminist issue. In my house growing up, it just had no name at all. Wasn't even mentioned.

I always revert to my 10 yr old sniggering self when american tv chat about slapping on fannies

I know I am prob being a prude, like I said repressed as hell and painfully aware that one step on the 'eeek that's a bit of an embarrasing subject' roundabout will prob lead to the kind of information provided to me as a young un on these matters. As in none whatsoever. Think 'Carrie' I want to be one of those cool, nothing makes me blush types but ya know, stuff does!

Good heavens I have just searched for 'vulva' on wiki (shield your eyes, girls, it starts with full-frontal photos!) and well me oh my, I can't believe I'd actually forgotten that 'vulva' really is the anatomical term for our outside bits!

However, it is an anatomical term, isn't it, and it's for the same reason as yellowraincoat described that I say lulu. Tis a real name, a 'fun' word and actually I think there would be no confusion as to what DD was talking about if she used the word.

I've heard it called flower too, but its mini all the way in this house, I do realise that does bring in more car confusion!!!!

I have heard it called a tuppence and I recall my nana telling my oldest sister to keep her halfpenny , pronounced a'penny" covered when she started going out as a teen.

we call DD's her penny and when i was little my mum called mine/my sisters tiddles but that makes me feel like retching so penny it is in our house

i have also taught her the 'real'/anatomically correct names so she can choose...she chose penny
