And why has the thread about it disappeared. Been on mn for 6 months and keep seeing references to it. My curiosity has got the better of me...

Hully, you can't start like that. You're not 32 and you don't have a new sofa.
You lying troll.

FestiveFrollockingFrenzy · 22/12/2011 20:19

I guess it's the jokes as well, they must go over most peoples heads as they can be cryptic... And require backstory.

BloodyWedding · 22/12/2011 20:20

Shirls- you lie, I accused you up there ^^

FestiveFrollockingFrenzy · 22/12/2011 20:20

I guess no one likes to be left out of a joke when they are part of the audience... If you did it in a room full of people, it would appear cliquey?

OP posts:
BloodyWedding · 22/12/2011 20:20

where have my ^^ gone??

MidnightinMoscow · 22/12/2011 20:21

I recently saw a comment made by one of the said 'royalty' as listed in one of the above posts. It was rude and crossed the line in terms of one of the things you can't say in MN.

However, lots of other posters just laughed and added smilies. If the comment had been made by a non popular poster, he/she would have be hauled over the coals.

Hullygully · 22/12/2011 20:21

I am so 32 and I do have a new sofa.

Are you calling me a LIAR?

BloodyWedding · 22/12/2011 20:21

they've gone again!!!!!

GreenIceAndChristmasHam · 22/12/2011 20:21

This always seems like a strange question to me.

I mean regardless of who is/isn't 'MN Royalty', surely what is meant by the term 'MN Royalty' isn't that difficult to work out? Confused

Hullygully · 22/12/2011 20:21

yeah that sucks huh, midnight?

SantasStrapon · 22/12/2011 20:21

well quite Hully, quite ;)

FestiveFrollockingFrenzy · 22/12/2011 20:29

So I take it, you don't think it's cliquey to make jokes that others can't understand in a forum?

no, just ask for an explanation

notveryinventive · 22/12/2011 20:31

The jokes dont bother me I just ignore those threads as I gont 'get' them, though I have got a couple of references recently. I think thats because Ive started to post/lurk a lot more frequent than I used to. Im enjoying it here and quite would like to stay.

It is hard either (more so in RL IMO) to get to know a bunch of people who have their 'in' jokes and little rules (eg on MN not to talk about P&C parking spaces, or discuss BF Vs FF etc) to adhere to that you dont automatically know, but you still learn eventually and it just takes time.
