This person was being a bit of a penis, right?

Two AIBUs in five minutes. Probably need to wind me neck in...

I got a christmas card this morning, not meant for us. I don't even know how it got to my house; my house number is 37, it had 68 on the envelope. Imagine I live on Dave Street, the envelope had Dave Road on it. Hmm

Opened it up without thinking, then saw it addressed to Sheila and Peter. There was a pretty lengthy message in it from Gaynor and Mike, who live in London (I live Midlands) It was quite a nice message and I thought what a shame that Sheila and Peter will miss out on the card! There was a London 'phone number at the bottom so I thought I would do a good deed and let the sender know that their card had not got to the intended recipient". Call went like this:

"Hello?"

Me: "Hello! Sorry to bother you, but am I speaking to Peter?"

Peter: "Yeah"

Me: "Oh good, I recieved a card from you this morning but it was not meant for me, it was sent to someone called Gaynor and Mike. I just wanted to let you know that it has been sent to the wrong address and that you might want to send another one."

Peter:

Merry christmas to you too, bollockchops!

Who cares? So, you tried to do a good deed, he hung up on you.

Not like he called a cuntchops or anything is it?

dutchyoriginal · 14/12/2011 20:10

Baubles, have you phoned Sheila yet? -I- People won't be able to sleep if -I- they haven't heard the conclusion. Also, think of poor Gike, who have probably already sent their card and are now wondering why they haven't gotten anything back.

Oh, and very much aaawww about the offer! :-)

SantasStrapon · 14/12/2011 20:28

No number 68 on Bupper's road. And the actual road doesn't exist, Bupper's road name is just 'close' to it.

RTFT.

dutchy I am still favouring the Flashmob Carding.

I'm glad you posted this thread, because I was wondering if we were going to do Janet and Roys this year. I guess someone has!

LadyBeagleBaublesAndBells · 14/12/2011 20:42

Well sorry Baubles, but you have to phone Sheila.
You owe it to her.

FabbyChic · 14/12/2011 20:45

I dont think he was being a penis you probably sounded like a nutter, it wasnt addressed to you but you opened it. All you had to do was readdress it in another envelope and send it on. YOu chose not to why not I have no idea.

thisisyesterday · 14/12/2011 20:46

why did you not just stick it back in the post box?????

seriously, if i had a phone call from someone telling me that i'd think they were loopy or that it was some kind of scam.

so no, i think it was you that was the penis. sorry

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 14/12/2011 20:50

FabbyChic, I know you post and run so won't see this in all probability but READ THE THREAD YOU FUCKING SPANNER.

What do I say to Sheila though? Plus the card is all covered in curry.

thisisyesterday · 14/12/2011 20:54

ok clearly i was way too late to the thread lol

am pmsl now reading it though

agree that the sender has just accidentally put road instead of street though

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 14/12/2011 20:57

THERE IS NO 68 of this street.

NOR A DAVE ROAD.

Help me.

So you don't think my suggestion of 'The Manchurian Candidate' is at all viable?

In other words - Peter is a sleeper and your phone call was engineered to trigger his response?

instantfamily · 14/12/2011 21:05

Ah, Lexi, remember Janet and Roy?!

dutchyoriginal · 14/12/2011 21:06

Sarah, you're right, that would be fun. :) In addition to the MN Secret Santa thing, we could also send random cards to Gike and Sheeter other MNers.

LadyBeagleBaublesAndBells · 14/12/2011 21:07

You just ask for Sheila and repeat what you said to Peter which obviously I would never do because I'm not a nutter for the purpose of this thread.
You started it after all Xmas Grin

KittyAnne · 14/12/2011 21:15

Write in the card that his penis lengthening operation went well and the STIs have now cleared up, though the anal tearing is still giving problems and is really itchy. Then go into detail about the explosive diarrhea and how those trousers are now a write off. Pop it in a new envelope and re-send to the intended recipients.

smackapacca · 14/12/2011 21:23

Hmmm I've been thinking alot about this. I think you should address a card to The Gikes. Go on to Google street map, pick an address similar to yours then send one signing it from the Sheetas.

Trust the universe to do the right thing.

StealthPolarBear · 14/12/2011 21:29

So I know who Mike and Peter are now, but am confused as to where dave fits in? Is he carrying out a clandestine affair with both Gaynor and Sheila, while cleverly making both Peter and Mike think it is the other that their wife is shagging?

Lexilicious · 14/12/2011 21:51

instant Grin and yes dutchy last Christmas some mn-ers did send Christmas cards with a lovely slightly oversharing round robin variant included to mad aunts, dodgy friends of family etc etc - inspired by a poster who got a card every year addressed to Janet and Roy.

This year I have two cards in my hall for Carole and Albert (moved out 2 years ago). My neighbours know the sheltered housing they're in, so they'll get passed on.

Lexilicious · 14/12/2011 21:54

(Janet and Roy thread was in chat. I thought it might have been a classic but clearly it didn't attract enough MN royalty pass the MNHQ lawyers' risk assessment)

I've never seen The Manchurian Candidate :( I generally only deal in films where Eddie Murphy dresses up in a fat suit.
