This person was being a bit of a penis, right?

Two AIBUs in five minutes. Probably need to wind me neck in...

I got a christmas card this morning, not meant for us. I don't even know how it got to my house; my house number is 37, it had 68 on the envelope. Imagine I live on Dave Street, the envelope had Dave Road on it. Hmm

Opened it up without thinking, then saw it addressed to Sheila and Peter. There was a pretty lengthy message in it from Gaynor and Mike, who live in London (I live Midlands) It was quite a nice message and I thought what a shame that Sheila and Peter will miss out on the card! There was a London 'phone number at the bottom so I thought I would do a good deed and let the sender know that their card had not got to the intended recipient". Call went like this:

"Hello?"

Me: "Hello! Sorry to bother you, but am I speaking to Peter?"

Peter: "Yeah"

Me: "Oh good, I recieved a card from you this morning but it was not meant for me, it was sent to someone called Gaynor and Mike. I just wanted to let you know that it has been sent to the wrong address and that you might want to send another one."

Peter:

Merry christmas to you too, bollockchops!

Liking it nativity, or "Peter, I think it may be in your best interests to have a little chat about why you hung up on me".

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 14/12/2011 14:46

I think it's WEIRD how weird is one of the only words that doesn't adhere to the i before e rule...

Sheeter hurt us beyond repair, I'm frankly appalled that the card has surfaced. They know we had to move after the incident Oh and 'Peter'? 'Sheila'? I think a little 'name change' has been brought into the equation too

MrsHankey · 14/12/2011 14:57

But did it have the wrong address on it or was it delivered to the wrong address (you did say it had 68 on it & yours is 37) ?

If one of my friends sent me a card with my address on it and a blind postman put it to the 'wrong' address I'd hope that the person who received it would re-post Xmas Confused

And I'm not Peter or Mike Xmas Grin

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 14/12/2011 14:59

It had wrong number AND wrong street on it. Fuck knows why mine was the chosen house of SheeTer's yuletide greetings.

I'm trying to work the penis and arse into my nordic knitting patterns.

BlastOff · 14/12/2011 16:16

I just got an email back from the teacher! A very, very nice email, mentioning my friend and wishing me a happy Christmas and prosperous new year! I wonder if she is a mnetter?! Seems a huge coincidence if she's not.

If you are a mnetter and it was you, thank you very much! Grin

MrsHankey · 14/12/2011 16:20

I'm not understanding, how do you know its not the correct address for 'Sheila & Peter' ? Do you know the people at No 68?

Realise I'm getting too involved, I have a cold too and maybe have 'lemsip induced head confusion' Xmas Grin

Johntorodegregwallacesandwich · 14/12/2011 16:21

Probably are wifeswappers... sorry if someones already said it!

WanderingSheep · 14/12/2011 16:21

I love this thread! Xmas Grin

I must admit that if someone rang me saying, "ooh, hello I have a card from you but it's not for me, it's for X so you'll need to send them another," I'd be a bit Xmas Hmm and Xmas Confused.

Why wouldn't you open post that came through your own door? If I had a card intended for someone else I would just stick it up with the rest of mine to look like I had more friends.

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 14/12/2011 16:21

Because... for one there is no 68 in our street and for two, there is no DAVE ROAD in my town.

Capiche? Xmas Grin

Oh ok will stop asking confused questions now Xmas Grin

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 14/12/2011 16:24

It is OK, it's been a confusing day...

tinkertitonk · 14/12/2011 16:34

Sorry but I need clarification: just how bad is it to be a penis?

TechnoViking · 14/12/2011 16:39

It's not good to be a penis. Would you rather people referred to you as a good / nice person / good company / helpful, or a penis? Grin

LadyBeagleBaublesAndBells · 14/12/2011 16:49

You will be phoning Sheila tonight though won't you?
This thread can't end like this, and I need to know as people are very concerned.

MabelLucyAttwell · 14/12/2011 16:55

Why couldn't you have just sealed it again with sticky tape

tinkertitonk · 14/12/2011 17:01

TechnoV, thanks but I had already grasped (as it were) the "not good" bit. Can you quantify your answer? I mean, they're pretty sure now that the Higgs boson exists and has a mass of around 125 GeV; how many gigatwats is a penis? Roughly.

TheLaineyWayIsEssex · 14/12/2011 17:09

Loving this thread Grin
did the envelope havd your pistcode on it or another one?

TheLaineyWayIsEssex · 14/12/2011 17:09

*postcode Blush

smackapacca · 14/12/2011 18:55

Send it back to Peter with a lipstick sealed envelope. That'll sort the wheat from the chaff.

thatboysmum · 14/12/2011 19:34

I'm with Dutchy I would have definitely opened it, hung it on my wall and claimed it as mine Smile
I am pmsl at this thread, loving 'sheeTer' and everyone's idea's for peter the penis' reaction!

BarbieDahl · 14/12/2011 19:47

Does your street have a number 68 on it?
Sounds to me like it's been wrongly delivered i.e postman's mistake rather than wrongly addressed. Maybe Sheeter lives at N° 68 in your street?

PrincessFiorimonde · 14/12/2011 19:57

Am Shock at Peter's reaction to your phone call.
