picture the scene if you will...

you are working a 7 day week. today you have worked a 9 hour day, starting at 7am, with hardly a break, you missed lunch as you were so busy.

you arrive home in the evening and you pass your DP/DH as he is going to work as you come in.

you cook a meal for your 2 teenagers, one of whom is 20 tomorrow. As that meal is almost ready, you call your 2 to come and get their meal.

as you are serving up the meal your 20 yr old shouts to you " what did you call me for? you said it was ready, i am busy"

would you:
A) serve him his meal with a sweet smile and an apology for interrupting his busy schedule?
B) make sure that before he left the room he was wearing his meal.
C) tell him to bog off back to his busy life and scrape his meal into the dog.

please do tell me what you would do, as i am most interested to find out if i was unreasonable. i chose one of the options above....i will tell you which one later.
thankyou

Definitely C.

Or possibly D. Eat it myself and hand him a saucepan/ cookery book

marriedandwreathedinholly · 01/12/2011 19:28

D). Do you know what I have done today, I am exhausted, how dare you treat me like a servant, some of your father's traits are inherited and I can't blame your grandmother. Sit down and be pleasant and if you can't take it upstairs and remember to bring the empty plate back down. Don't ever speak to me like that again. Don't ask me for any money this week because you won't be getting any.

Can you tell I've got an older teenager.

Poor you. >>>>>>>hugs

I agree with Grimma,
he is old enough to do some cooking.
Is he in employment? education?

WoTmania · 01/12/2011 19:28

C (B very tempting though)

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 01/12/2011 19:29

If he's going to uni next year there's no better time to start preparing him for the realities of life. If you don't treat people with respect there are consequences.

cocoachannel · 01/12/2011 19:29

C. And get him cooking for you sometimes. Good practice for uni.

ISawPINOTSnoggingSantaClaus · 01/12/2011 19:30

C

Oh god I so have this to come in the future.

Malificence · 01/12/2011 19:30

None of the above, I'd be wondering why DH hadn't cooked a meal my tea !

HohohomoaneeInAManger · 01/12/2011 19:30

C here too, although when DH has had a hissy fit about something to do with dinner i have whipped away from him and put it in the bin before, as we dont have a dog.

cambridgetinsellyferret · 01/12/2011 19:30

C if I had a dog. Followed by no meals at all thereafter.

exactly mildynarkypuffin....

he is learning that as we speak. I have tried to teach this, but he is probably operating at 2/3 of his chronological age....in fact his 14 year old sister is more mature, but he has aspergers like i say, so i accept that, i just wont accept him being bloody rude to me.

He is doing a foundation degree with his 3rd year done at lincoln uni next year and he works part time as a computer programmer.

a few more answers in the straw pole and i will come clean and tell you which i did...

I would have done C and also gone ballistic.

CuriosityCola · 01/12/2011 19:37

C! Grin

Deafworm · 01/12/2011 19:37

B or c

rhondajean · 01/12/2011 19:37

The apsergers would put a slightly different slant on how I handled it, I would skip B and go straight for C.

AwayinaKayzr · 01/12/2011 19:38

B or C.

Please don't say you did A.

SantasNutellaFairy · 01/12/2011 19:40

I would have done c.

StopRainingPlease · 01/12/2011 19:42

Option d) - tell him to move out Smile

AnnieLobeseder · 01/12/2011 19:43

C

And it's poll, not pole. Sorry. A straw pole would be a weak and feeble thing and blow over.

ThatVikRinA22 · 01/12/2011 19:45

oh my word! poll! thickie! i was so cross i typed it fast before engaging brain....sorry to all the pedants!

This thread proves the need for families to own a dog! Grin

EdithWeston · 01/12/2011 19:47

A straw pole spun like a minor version of a Wicker Man. Perhaps you could tie him to it and ignite it?

PrincessIncognita · 01/12/2011 19:47

C I think.

EdithWeston · 01/12/2011 19:48

"spun" ?? I meant "sounds"
