.. to NEVER wash DD's hair...

She's 5. She hates it, I hate it and two days later its looks the same as before. I think I last washed it about 6 months ago. I do bath the child once a month whether she needs it or not every few days, and she goes swimming every now and then but I am not sure that counts as she won't get in the pool showers. There must be a mild disinfectant effect of the chlorine tho??

sorry I have to disagree. Fair enough I have had a riding hat on today but my hair smells, it needs washing. If I get sweaty or go the gym, I can smell my hair, I know when it needs washing. I've smelt unwashed hair, it isn't nice. Your scalp is the same as any other skin on your body and it gets oily or dry or flaky. I wouldn't not wash my face, the grime that comes off at night. Hair picks up smells too, I can tell if someone has cooked chips, or been in a
And I am not precious about cleanliness, I shower every other day and wash hair 2-3 times a week

Things like bowel movements are unique.
Or reactions to certain foods.
Or how much each of us is likely to sweat given identical conditions.
Why can't body odor be unique too?
Why this idea that we must all smell the same amount without an equal amount of cleaning?
I believe you Missimac, fascinating!
In my 20s I was incredibly lazy tried not washing my hair for about 3 months and it never settled down to nice on its own, I think I'm stuck with washing it for life, but still far less often than some would contend is essential.

TattyDevine · 01/12/2011 20:11

Just pick the baked beans out of it once a week and get on with your life Grin

I think I like you, OP, and your daughter.

AitchTwoOh · 01/12/2011 20:14

jesus santababy on THIS thread you think I am being snide? Grin (btw that's actually a personal attack but i'll let you away with it...)

sweetsantababy · 01/12/2011 20:22

PMSL at aitch yes you are being snide, don't bother letting me off ta

AitchTwoOh · 01/12/2011 20:28

in what respect, then? i'd like you to clarify.

sweetsantababy · 01/12/2011 20:30

No thanks, rather not bother with you.

AitchTwoOh · 01/12/2011 20:31

ye gods.

stickeywicket · 01/12/2011 20:34

Sounds perfectly fine to me. She'll change as she gets older and you won't be able to get her out of the bathroom. Enjoy it while you can. Also agree about not stressing out doing something just for the sake of it if your dd hates it. Life is too short.

girliefriend · 01/12/2011 20:35

yabu and you have made me feel slightly better about only washing my dds hair once a week!

girliefriend · 01/12/2011 20:42

and no knickers Hmm really? You don't think thats a bit weird?

What does she do for P.E?

Or getting changed for anything?

And knowing that kids aren't always the best bum wipers that is just gross!

Doesn't she get draughty?!

squeakytoy · 01/12/2011 20:44

I am now seeing the correlation between the "towel washing" thread and this one...

Stands to reason that some of you dont need to wash your towels... cos you dont wash your kids! Grin

AgentZigzag · 01/12/2011 20:47

Arf at 'ye gods'.

Gadzooks Aitch, reel thy neck in lass Grin

AitchTwoOh · 01/12/2011 20:48

well ffs, what age is she, 12? Grin

AgentZigzag · 01/12/2011 20:50

Thing is stickey, they can also get worse as they get older Shock

sweetsantababy · 01/12/2011 20:50

Oh you are making me laff. I'm telling on you SSB cos you called me a snide, miss, miss

AgentZigzag · 01/12/2011 20:53

Quite a few Some parts in my head are still 16 Grin

the other bits are 4

4madboys · 01/12/2011 21:07

well she wears clean trousers everyday so no different to just putting on a pair of clean knickers everyday and when i went comando, a lot when younger and child free, do i didnt get draughty. the ops dd is obviously happy not wearing underwear and prefers that.

she also answers the points about pe/getting changed and in the thread and the school are happy with things. she is only 5 anyway its not like it would be awful for her to get changed and be nude infront of others, it what the kids at my school do when they have swimming (in reception anyway and prob yr one)

and i dont think aitch was being snide i think she was pointing out the obvious discrepancy between the fact that some of us dont wash our kids everyday and thats seen as awful and yet checking for nits once a week is seen as ott, ironic just a bit?!

and aitch you didnt answer my question re the trailer thing for cars, i am SURE it was you who had the thread about them?!! or am i being dense? Blush

AitchTwoOh · 01/12/2011 21:09

oh yes it was me and no unfortunately i haven't used it yet. they didn't get it to me in time for the last camp of the season, but oh YES i will report when i get back out there again. mind you, looking at the weather it seems a loooong way away.

ExcitedElectrons · 01/12/2011 21:14

You don't wash her hair and she wears no knickers..?

Well... Hmm

Everyone else on this thread seems to love this idea, not sure why - I think it's disgusting. I hated nits, bath time etc. but bloody hell am I glad my DM washed my hair and dressed me normally.

4madboys · 01/12/2011 21:16

ah good i am not going mad! well i hope you get to try it out soon, we have a camping trip 'penciled' in for easter, but the other year it snowed at easter Hmm so we will be waiting to see what the weather is like! gutted that i dont think we can use it on our car because of the composite boot/back door :(

AitchTwoOh · 01/12/2011 21:19

i know, it's a shame. i think there are a good few cars excluded. the thing is MASSIVE btw.

4madboys · 01/12/2011 21:24

yeah the guy in halfords said LOADS of cars nowadays are made with a composite boot/rear door, ours is a citreon c8 and we are having a mare trying to get the right bits to fit the roof box so the trailer would have been great :( massive is GOOD!! think of all you can fit in!!

CheerfulYank · 01/12/2011 21:29

There's nothing wrong with being naked if that's what you're comfortable with! I personally am not, but some people are. Though if DS comes in the bathroom when I'm naked I don't freak out or anything, just calmly ask for privacy.

CheerfulYank · 01/12/2011 21:29

Oh...are we talking about trailers now? Blush
