Working in very well paid jobs if they can afford 5 kids?

tethersend · 29/11/2011 22:01

Hang on... is the OP Xenia fallen on hard times?

Shock
grovel · 29/11/2011 22:06

Xenia is literate and works. If she lost her job she'd still be literate.

Anyway, it's a wind-up.

Sorry, not read whole thread, but am slightly saddened at where romance has gone. Your poor kids - 'yes, daddy and I loved each other, but we would have been down by £15.20, so decided not to bother'. Eek.

A bit like Jane Austen in reverse - instead of trying to trap the rich guy to support you, you try NOT to end up with the guy so that the state can support you.

Is that progress?

Eeek- lots of messages deleted by mumsnet including one of mine- what did I say wrong HQ? :(

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 29/11/2011 23:24

Thanks mincepie. Bit weird they all use their real names though. Could I not be SoftKitty over there then?

oksonowwhat · 30/11/2011 00:34

zukie, i have two older children in further education so we are in a similar family situation i think. Would you mind, if you don't think i'm being too nosey, explain what benefits you get to receive that much per year? I earn, with loads of over time less than £11,000 a year, i get no council tax or hbenefit, just wtc. I struggle to earn this much money and i am absolutely knackered with no family time at all. I am also always skint. But i was under the impression my incomings would be far less if i did not work. I hope you don't mind me asking?

WinterIsComing · 30/11/2011 00:40

zukie said in her post that she suffers from ill-health so perhaps there is something to be factored in from that angle?

Sorry to hear that you are having such a bad time oksonowwhat Sad

Bad times.

oksonowwhat · 30/11/2011 00:58

Ah yes, i see, thanks winter. Probably a totally different situation then.
Thanks for your comments, yes tough times for alot of usSad I do wonder when all these hard times will stop and life will be dare i say a little easier and enjoyable.

Moominsarescary · 30/11/2011 01:13

I think it will be sometime comming, dp has lost £250 a week since I became pg with ds4, he is self employed and works in construction and every where is paying less. He is lucky enough to still be earning a very good wage but if things carry on his wages could drop to a point where we would be able to claim ctc, if I go back to work my wages will be just enough to pay childcare

I think some people realy have no understanding how much things have changed fianancial for some of us over the last year, through no fault of our own

WinterIsComing · 30/11/2011 01:14

It's horrible, but you should be proud of yourself for working hard to raise lovely children who are doing their best to achieve. It's so difficult and demoralising but what you have done is really something Smile
