No, I am not saying that at all. It is good that she was arrested. But there are so many people out there like her, and I find that really disheartening.

And it is really sad. And I would imagine symptomatic of bigger things.

ExquisiteChristmasCake · 28/11/2011 19:47

Ohhh but as soon as a Muslim is spouting hate speech about British/Caucasian/Christian people the world is up in arms. It works both ways. Despite who holds the views, they are the mere mutterings of ignorant wanker face tosspots.

oldenglishspangles · 28/11/2011 19:49

?

WorraLiberty · 28/11/2011 19:50

Oh right I get you now Quint sorry

Yes, there is a lot of racism out there sadly...I'm just glad this was caught on camera, as much as it's a tiny drop in the ocean.

Like the mugging that was caught on camera during the August riots...that poor Malaysian student.

Muggings go on everywhere, every day...but he kind of got 'lucky' (for want of a better word) that his was caught on camera and caused public outrage leading to arrests.

Absolutely...and so it should.

You just need to read some of the comments underneath the video to realise there are rather a lot of people with the same ugly views as this woman.
They can't all have mental health issues.

Mishy1234 · 28/11/2011 19:58

I don't know if she has mental health issues or not, but she obviously has no regard for her own child if she acts like this.

She's willing to swear and abuse strangers in front of him. What on earth is she like behind closed doors? I shudder to think. That poor little boy.

FreudianSlipper · 28/11/2011 19:58

i get your point. i personally have not seen a puclic rant like that on the tube or tram but racisim is very much part of our society but more often than not it is not always obvious

ExquisiteChristmasCake · 28/11/2011 19:58

Yes Worral, I agree. Utter bollocks to allow racism to work in one way. I'm glad that a British/Caucasian/Christian person has been caught spouting such hate; especially so publically, it makes a change to hearing people who have heard it from British/non British/Islamic/non Islamic/Asian/Middle Eastern/Caucasian/Black people.

How PC do I need to get to make a point?!

oldenglishspangles · 28/11/2011 20:00

I am glad this womans '15 mintues of fame' are getting her arrested.

thebigkahuna · 28/11/2011 20:00

If you watch it with the sound off and ignore her and only look at the other passengers there is actually a brilliant show of solidarity between them.

Every cloud, I guess...

WorraLiberty · 28/11/2011 20:02

You don't need to be PC at all on my account Exquisite

Racism is racism no matter who is spouting it

ExquisiteChristmasCake · 28/11/2011 20:02

*publicly.

Dear God.

JamieComeHome · 28/11/2011 20:02

there's a very drunk back guy who regularly walks home down our road shouting racist abuse at the top of his lungs. He's more disturbed than this lady so everyone ignores him.

LadyBeagle - the irony is, that those people who are agreeing with her are agreeing with someone who is off her face. Which makes them really stupid.

JamieComeHome · 28/11/2011 20:03

black guy

niceguy2 · 28/11/2011 20:07

I'm interested to hear what she will be charged with. As an ethnic minority myself and like most people, I found her opinions to be vile.

At the same time, other than swearing (a lot), I'm not sure what crime she has committed? Not unless being drunk/high and stupid is a criminal offence.

What I'm trying to say is that whilst I find her opinion truly abhorrent, I'm mindful that in this country we have freedom of speech. And just because I think she's a racist cow doesn't mean I feel she shouldn't have the right to say what she wants.

LineRunnerSaturnalia · 28/11/2011 20:11

Public disorder offence.

Maybe even incitement to racial hatred.

TandB · 28/11/2011 20:13

Racially aggravated S.5

JamieComeHome · 28/11/2011 20:15

I'd also want someone to look very seriously at the care she's giving that child

Faithless12 · 28/11/2011 20:17

What's really scary is the people posting about the people who fought in the war turning in their graves. What about all of those black men who fought in the war? I also find it laughable that people genuinely believe black people can't be British.

niceguy2 · 28/11/2011 20:21

I suspect once the press have finished with her, the last thing she'll be bothered about is the crime she's charged with.

During the clip she keeps referring to the fact that it's 'her' country and that Britain is "mine". Perhaps she was mistakenly thinking she's the queen? I wasn't aware a 34yr old woman travelling on a London tram owned Britain. You'd think she'd be able to afford to travel in a car.

omg, just read the comments people are leaving! They are just as shocking! Sad

Some people without MH/drug issues can find their inhibitions are easily lowered when in a postition of relative anonimity. They can be far more extreme, aggressive, offensive or dismissive of other people's feelings/humanity when sheilded by a screen for example. But an awful lot of them will be far less forthcoming with their vitriol when they are no longer "invisible/untouchable". Unless they are in a gang which offers safety in numbers.Or sure that their audience will concurr.

Some people with MH/drug issues can find their inhibitions are just as easily lowered even when deprived of anonimity. Regardless of the fact that a lack of "invisibility/untouchability" and gang could lead to real life retribution given that the audience is highly unlikely to appreciate their views.

It is that profound lack of inhibition when expressing highly provocative opinions when deprived of anonimity and a posse (in conjunction with visual and verbal clues) that leads me to make room for possible MH issues and/or drug abuse in the case of the woman in the vid. Not her status as a racist.

GwendolineMaryLacedwithBrandy · 28/11/2011 21:33

Dear God. I'm actually far more depressed reading the comments than I was watching the video. How do people become so full of hate?
