To find Jimmy Carr's latest 'joke' really disgusting and pathetic

Jimmy Carr has done it again. Nor content with making deeply disrespectful and horrid jokes about soldiers, he has now made a joke about children with Down's Syndrome and the Sunshine Variety coaches that do so much to help these kids and others too.

I used to like him but he goes too far. I really think that some things should not be joked about. Why do some people feel the need to tell
Jokes like that?

Yet, I am also aware of the fact that we can't censor jokes, but I wish some comedians actually set out to make us laugh with properly funny jokes rather than the nasty shit that Jimmy has been peddling again.

You know, they used to say about Bernard Manning, that he wasn't offensive because he took the piss out of everyone equally.

Jimmy Carr is just this generation's Bernard Manning isn't he?

Sevenfold · 25/11/2011 22:49

oh great so now disabled people just have to suck it up, yay

EleanorRathbone · 25/11/2011 22:49

I don't want anyone to extrapolate from that, that my feelings about Bernard Manning are positive btw.

Yes I agree with SWC.

It really is dehumanising.

Bernard Manning didn't really think black people were properly people in the same way he thought he was.

Jimmy Carr doesn't think people with DS are proper people.

He's not unusual. Lots of people who erroneously believe themselves to be nice, have that sort of attitude.

lordsugarslovechild · 25/11/2011 22:54

The lack of wheelchair access on public transport extremely frustrating.

Glitterknickaz · 25/11/2011 23:03

Blimey so why hasn't anyone called the sn parents on the thread 'professionally offended' yet? My bingo card needs that and 'stifling free speech' for this thread Hmm

Sevenfold · 25/11/2011 23:05

GK it will happen

AgentZigzag · 25/11/2011 23:08

Because the majority of people don't think like that Glitter.

Glitterknickaz · 25/11/2011 23:10

Honestly, ANYONE who thinks these kinds of 'jokes' are ok... Go take a look at your children sleeping. We parents of sn kids have identical feelings for our babies, they are just as much our babies as yours are to you. Now imagine the likes of Carr, Boyle and Gervais with lip curled sneering either an insult or a massive generalisation about your child - which isn't true by the way - based on let's say their eye colour, or something else they or you can't control. This very public statement somehow is then validated in the eyes of their fans and so the contempt and sneers that are already a part of your life escalate all the more.

Is it still ok? Can I laugh at YOUR child for something they cannot help?

and GK .....
then people will weep and wail when they read the terrible stories of people driven to death by hate crimes. but can't see the link.

saintlyjimjams · 25/11/2011 23:13

Ah swc- that makes sense. Bullied himself, so makes himself feel better by having a go at those even lower in the social pecking order.

What a big man Jimmy, what a big man.

Sevenfold · 25/11/2011 23:13

smallwhitecat oh that image made me lol

saintlyjimjams · 25/11/2011 23:14

Glitterknickaz · 25/11/2011 23:16

Good to know I'm not alone with these sentiments then Flora

Glitterknickaz · 25/11/2011 23:19
