To think everyone wants to have their cake and eat it?

So our country is fucked financially. So we need to make cut backs? But all everyone is doing is moaning about said cut backs and trying to stop them happening.

I am not a big fan of politicians but it seems like they cannot win. It is all very well moaning about what they have done in the past (and I am talking about Labour and the Tories here) but that doesn't help us get ourselves out of the crisis.

Where do people think cut backs should be made? Or are they olnly happy if it is other people making sacrifices not themselves?

Higher tax on cakes. Specifically Lemon curd cupcakes from KandyCupcakes up the road. Or else I'm destined to become a massive financial burden on the NHS.

OrmIrian · 24/11/2011 12:20

How do you eat your cake without having it though? That has always confused me. Are you supposed to nick someone else's cake and eat it when they aren't looking?

Kladdkaka · 24/11/2011 12:21

They should cut back on the tax loopholes and policy decisions that allow people like David Cameron to live lives of absolute luxury while the poor get vital services cut.

ViviPru · 24/11/2011 12:21

Ask Mr. VP. he's often on the receiving end of that sort of treatment, Orm

JeremyVile · 24/11/2011 12:21

Yes, I just want cut backs to affect other people if at all possible. And I dont ant to share my cake. In fact I appeat to have eaten all of the cake already and tbh im a bit fucked off about that.

JuliaScurr · 24/11/2011 12:21

Could try collecting unpaid tax. Start with Vodafone and Phillip Green.

AngryFeet · 24/11/2011 12:22

To be fair I don't think that would generate enough to get us out of the shite but agreed.

I love cake.

1Catherine1 · 24/11/2011 12:27

Personally if I can't eat the cake then I'd rather not have it.

What is the point of that?!!

GobblersKnob · 24/11/2011 12:28

Having cake is totally pointless unless you are able to eat it.

It is the crux of the problem, there is cake everywhere, people therefore feel they must consume it.

WorraLiberty · 24/11/2011 12:28

I don't like cake either, so even if I had one I wouldn't want to eat it.

Therefore, YABU.

CumpyGrunt · 24/11/2011 12:30

What is the point of having cake if you can't eat it? Confused

slavetofilofax · 24/11/2011 12:31

The only things that I think should be completely protected are the things that we all benefit from.

So that would be healthcare, education and the police service.

Everything else is fair game imo. We simply cant afford everything, so we have to prioritise. And the priorities should be the things that affect the greatest number of people.

Kladdkaka · 24/11/2011 12:34

I disagree. The top priorities should be the things that affect life and death, pain and suffering, and human dignity.

Kladdkaka · 24/11/2011 12:35

AngryFeet, perhaps some of these people can make up the shortfall.

NinkyNonker · 24/11/2011 12:35

I always want cake, and I always want to eat it too. I'm dead demanding me.

OrmIrian · 24/11/2011 12:37

I want some cake. If you give it to me I promise only to have it or to eat it. Honest.

ViviPru · 24/11/2011 12:37

OP you were asking for it with that title

slavetofilofax · 24/11/2011 12:40

Kladdkaka that would be healthcare then wouldn't it?

NinkyNonker · 24/11/2011 12:43

In all seriousness, I do know what you mean. On some level most seem to agree with cuts, as long as they don't affect them.

There are cores that should be untouchable though, as have been mentioned already.

AngryFeet · 24/11/2011 12:43

Hmm maybe I should have put 'Why is everyone such wankers?' Wink

OP posts:
Kladdkaka · 24/11/2011 12:43

Not entirely. It would also cover social services, housing and other stuff I can't think of right now.
