Worst children's film ever.

Taking the children to see all and sundry, along with her ne'er do well mate with the funny accent.

Look into Julie Andrews eyes and see the axis of evil.

Fly a kite off.

And I have never seen The Sound of Music.

More Julie Andrews giving poor children the creeps.

But she's practically perfect in every way.

PlumpDogPillionaire · 21/11/2011 21:16

Couldn't agree more, Get0rf. Andrews is like an earlier incarnation of evil munchkin Nicole Kidman. Though at least with NK they got her ambience right and put her in 'The Others'.

Never seen the Sound of Music Shock
Speechless.

IHeartKingThistle · 21/11/2011 21:18

Those are my two favourite films in the world. I'm not going to like this thread, am I?

Tee2072 · 21/11/2011 21:20

You think the movie is bad, you should read the book. Terrifying, she is.

Hassled · 21/11/2011 21:21

I like Mary's approach to childcare. She wouldn't be caught saying "No, darlings, please don't do that" as Jane and Michael create havoc. She would either join in and make it considerably worse, or she'd give them short shrift. That's the sort of inconsistency children need.

Panzee · 21/11/2011 21:23

Have you been watching ?

BroomForMyChin · 21/11/2011 21:23

Yabu she uses an umbrella as a form of transport! She is The Dude.

Get0rf · 21/11/2011 21:26

I did read the book tee (Mary Poppins) when I was a child. She is bloody HORRIBLE in the book.

Then I saw the film and all of Mary's simpering niceness hides a psychopathic nature. It is a scary film. You may as well sit there and watch the Exorcist as a child.

YY to cold blue eyes like Nicole Kidman, and strangely Katy Perry.

What happens in Sound of Music? Doesn't she annoy a load of kids AGAIN and run away from some nazis.

I don't supposed she gets killed in a barrage of shellfire at the end, like Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan?

YANBU. It's jolly holiday with Mary.

RedBlanket · 21/11/2011 21:35

SOM is ace. She makes them all outfits out of flowery curtains. How can you not love that?

Get0rf · 21/11/2011 21:36

She would help us all if she strangled herself with said curtains.

I am a horrible person aren't I. Sad

Hassled · 21/11/2011 21:37

What happens in the Sound of Music? Everything. It's a microcosm of life.

It has nuns, singing nuns, angst and navel-gazing, stroppy kids, curtains, teenage lurve, a handsome naval captain, puppets, adult lurve, Nazis and finally Switzerland. What more could you possibly want from a film?

CaveMum · 21/11/2011 21:40

I'm sure I saw an interview with one of the older children from SOM who said Julie Andrews swore like a Marine on set!

I'm with Hassled - nuns, nazis, what more does a film need?! Grin

SecretNutellaFix · 21/11/2011 21:42

The Sound of Music is based on a real life escape from Nazi Germany.

The film is bloody annoying though.

Tee2072 · 21/11/2011 21:56

There's a cuddly Mary Poppins doll?!?!

::faints::

ScatterChasse · 21/11/2011 21:56

YABU, I love it! Especially at the end, when the name unscrambles and it's really Dick Van Dyke again!!

She is a bit scary in the bit where she sings them to sleep whilst apparently darning a yellow octopus though.
