Three AIBU threads gone poof in an hour.

OP posts:
Peachy · 21/11/2011 14:16

'So you think someone's a troll, then report it. You think someone is being unreasonable you give them a YABU.

If you personally attack them then you are breaking the rules.'

I think I managed a decade here before a MN deletion: even now it's akin to Pg's and usually I report myself.

But many of the horrible posters here are not troll. They are not worried in the least about shoving their nasty opinions, often about my boys, down my throat why should I offer them more consideration?

Except usually I do. Soemtimes it gets too hurtful, in which case MN deletes as they may.

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:17

I type to slowly / am too terrified of another positive negative foobar

ShirleyKnot · 21/11/2011 14:17

That's not usually the reason threads go poof though.

If you're going to start a contentious thread, using offensive language and basically behaving like a turd? Then TBH I couldn't give the tiniest shit about whether or not half a million people get to read your ill considered bullshit. Grin I'm delighted when those threads that squirt nasty shite all over the place get deleted.

GOOD.

Pagwatch · 21/11/2011 14:17

Just x-posts everywhere

Get0rf · 21/11/2011 14:18

I think though entropy if people do call people a wanker, it doesn't derail the thread. In most cases individual posts are deleted, but the thread remains. It is only if there is rampant trollhunting that the whole thread is deleted.

And what pag and shir said in a far more articulate manner than me.

I agree that namecalling is not big and not clever, but sometimes it is the most rational response in the heat of the moment.

Get0rf · 21/11/2011 14:19

Oh I don't know who said what now.

I blame the tramadol.

ShirleyKnot · 21/11/2011 14:19

See? Stuff like going on about people being "professionaly offended" when people object to racism or diablest language is JUST the sort of thing to trigger a

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:19

Gah! I know nothing of your deleted comment Pag I was referring to my own deleted thread and thought is was possible that you had called me a sactimonious cow on it before the whole thing went poof....someone did but it prob wasnt you..

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:22

What is diablest language?

Pagwatch · 21/11/2011 14:23

No. I have no recollection of any particular thread of yours - no idea what you are talking about tbh.

I can't think of any time I have ever called anyone that other than my deleted post about my ds

Tbh I am not sure that is the kind of thing I tend to post Confused. I would like to think it was pretty rare for me

ShirleyKnot · 21/11/2011 14:24

What do you mean?

Pagwatch · 21/11/2011 14:25

Disablist language is exactly what it sounds like - awful things said about people with disabilities including, but not limited to, the sorts of things wankers shout at people with sn/disabled people in the street.

Get0rf · 21/11/2011 14:25

I don't understand what anyone is saying any more

Is everyone else as confused at me or am I turning into Bruce Forsyth?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 21/11/2011 14:26

Disablist. Shirley has sausage fingers

Pagwatch · 21/11/2011 14:26

Good game. Good game.

Pagwatch · 21/11/2011 14:27

It's not you Brucie getorf. I don't understand and I am only on local painkillers for my broken boob

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:27

Peachy I am not sure I can quite buy that. I mean if someone walks up to you in the street and yells at you then you cant avoid being offended by their stupid attitude. But this is a forum. There are threads I dont open. There are posts I dont respond to. Especially since I have been around long enough now (few months) to see the cyclic nature of contentious issues (you get over excited the first time and post like a mad woman, maybe post the second and then ignore from then onwards).

So to me opening a thread and then feeling 'forced' to be rude, smacks of seeking out that Ross/Brand interview just so you can be offended by it and complain to the DM.

ViviPru · 21/11/2011 14:29

The OP of the benefits thread has posted on the SN board in a very different style - correct grammar and no text speak so its very strange.

I couldn't disagree more OP.

Excerpts from threads you linked to supposedly depicting Mummystar's "very different" posting styles:

" we do sensory diet which makes her body in tact. Before and type of play where he is going to use his hands give him deep compression and massage his hands, fingers. It takes you 4min to do it every 2h and def just before activity. Don't force him, which of course you are not,but rather you play in front of him."

"We did speak to school and headmistress ,specialy when at the start of this sch year she came with jumper written all over, boy got detention but that is not the point. I told her ,they need to work on discipline and manors. .Any suggestions, please,i know its late but my heart is sinking."

Both of the above (very similar IMO) styles were in line with the style she posted her inflammatory thread today.

Please can someone explain as I appear to be missing something here.

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:29

ahh disablist right. Sorry, genuinely failed to rearrange the letters correctly.

ShirleyKnot · 21/11/2011 14:31

Well entropy - That's utter nonsense I'm afraid, and perhaps when you've been here longer than a few months, you will understand how upsetting it is for posters to have to read about their children (children that they LOVE like we ALL love our children) should never have been born or various other variations on that theme.

Christ.

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:31
MincePieFlavouredVoidka · 21/11/2011 14:32

Its the lasck of capital letters and overuse of punctuation in the deleted thread.

OP posts:
MincePieFlavouredVoidka · 21/11/2011 14:32

lack

OP posts:
ShirleyKnot · 21/11/2011 14:32

Oh and furthermore - I find it staggering that you can say that GetOrf and her ilk should be ashamed for telling someone to piss off, when on the other hand you're saying that people shouldn't be offended by disablist labguage.

HA HA HA.

SinicalSal · 21/11/2011 14:33

grrr I hate 'professionally offended'

because (any combo of) youngish white mc nt ablebodied straight men have hard enough lives without being tutted at - TUTTED AT I TELL YOU - for trampling over other peoples' feelings.

It's not fair to impose any minor restriction aforementioned. suck it up, everyone else
