Three AIBU threads gone poof in an hour.

OP posts:
Get0rf · 21/11/2011 14:03

Watch it pag.

You may be classed as Someone Like Me.

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:04

Yup most times the OP will commit the same crime but I had a thread deleted which was certainly ill considered (I had been up all night, was desperately unhappy (all the usual sob story)) but which was genuine, heart felt and in fact scientifically accurate.

The first 15 responses were people telling me to fuck off, to fuck off and die, that I was all things unmentionable under the sun (I didn't read much beyond that tbh). The thread got pulled unsurprisingly. I got messages from people afterwards saying, things like 'you aren't wrong but you cant talk about that sort of thing on mumsnet' etc. and I think that's a real shame.

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:05

i like yabat

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:06

pag shit shit shit and triple shit. Seriously.....

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:06

Ah well if you are going to make a total supreme nob of yourself you may as well do it with all guns blazing...

Pagwatch · 21/11/2011 14:07

I posted 'oh do fuck off you sanctimonious cow' a few weeks ago.

It remains one of the most accurate things I have ever posted.

I checked the other day and I have been deleted about a dozen times ever. I am quite the goody two shoes

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:07

Nobody could ever accuse me of doing things by halves...

JessieLeGrund · 21/11/2011 14:08

LovebeingaFirework - Ffs yourself!

Wasn't taking a pop at you, GetOrf, as I love your posts just wondering if MNHQ were being consistent.

ShirleyKnot · 21/11/2011 14:08

You can talk about anything on Mumsnet though - but if you're (and I'm using you in the general sense) going to post something akin to "Poor people should have abortions" then you can be pretty sure that the response will not be that of measured debate. TBH why should it be?

sillymillyb · 21/11/2011 14:08

Ahhh they were deleted! I haven't just spent 10 mins searching for the thread about the ickle angel babies and their inconsiderate mothers staying pregnant. Honest.

Am very chuffed to finally see what GetOrf's comment was, I got to the original thread too late and it had already been deleted. Think you summed it up perfectly! Love that word div!

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:08

out of interest...did you get called on that?

Pagwatch · 21/11/2011 14:08
Grin

I think it was quite magnificent entropy girl

I do stuff like that in real life which is worse.

Get0rf · 21/11/2011 14:09

I saw that thread pag, and completely understand the reasons why.

I think the vast majority of people on the thread understood why you did it.

Entropy you are projecting your own hurt feelings about your own thread which went awry to defend the indefensible.

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:10

It doesnt have to be measured or equal it just has to be not-personal (god Im on a role with talking shite today).

You can say 'I utterly disagree on all possible levels.'

You cant say 'you are a dick on all possible levels.'

Pagwatch · 21/11/2011 14:10

Is that to me?

If it was, it was deleted which was no surprise. But I never got a warning or anything because I don't attack posters as a rule. It was just the most offensive, ill considered, revolting ops I have ever read and quite specifically referenced an issue relating to my disabled son.

Get0rf · 21/11/2011 14:12

Sorry that made no sense.

What I meant to say was I can understand that you were hurt when your own thread went tits up (I never saw that I don't think) - but that doesn't mean that all threads are unecessarily harsh.

Lots of people agree with you btw that AIBU especially is too nasty. I personally think it has its place on MN (and not just because I am a rude old bitch, I do like the forthrightness though).

Peachy · 21/11/2011 14:12

Entropy but that's the thing: on MN you can

Which is what it's USP is frankly

Definitelybeautiful · 21/11/2011 14:12

Oh...is it like a MN rite of passage to get a message deleted then? Ooooooh - after the day I have had I might just manage it....

Pagwatch · 21/11/2011 14:13

You are right for 99% of situations. But sometimes the poster is being vile and 'i disagree with you' doesn't cut it.
Most of the time it does. But we bring our passion and human frailty to the board.
If someone is routinely unpleasant that is bad. But we all have flash points or what kind of people would we be?

ShirleyKnot · 21/11/2011 14:13

Ah, but you can. It'll probably get deleted though.

I understand the rules entropy - sometimes it's quite difficult not to tell a knuckle dragging neaderthal to get to fuck though.

I think there's an element of wanting a row for the sake of it sometimes.

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:14

I understand why people feel inspired to tell others to fuck off, I can even understand doing it in the heat of the moment. I just think that people should be told not to, to face the consequences if they cant stop themselves on a regular basis and that on average threads shouldnt be deleted because people cant help but call the op a fuckwit.

pag yes I think that must have been me being a sanctimonious cow, and while with 20-20 hindsight and a bus load of anti depressants in me I can now agree with you, it was a different story at the time.

Pagwatch · 21/11/2011 14:14

A few x-posts there I think Smile

Whatmeworry · 21/11/2011 14:15

I am now awaiting someone to pop up and be Very Offended with "divot", and that it is now a racist/religionist/sexist/whateverist word.

Till then Iwill use it everywhere I can.

divot

divot

divot....

entropygirl · 21/11/2011 14:15

X-post pag

oh that certainly wasnt me then....

Pagwatch · 21/11/2011 14:16

I am a bit confused tbh. Were you on the thread where I was deleted?
